I have finally joined the crowd. I made my very first batch of jam. And all the jars sealed! Hooray! I had to wear the cute apron that Shannah gave me - I always feel like a cute little housewife when I wear it.

Backfired
I was commenting on Kim's blog the other day and I read a comment someone else left. It talked about a game called "Pertinent, Not pertinent". It was during the time when we were trying to get everything put away. I decided Nick had too much stuff, so I started throwing some of it away. Then he started digging through the garbage and rescuing his stuff.
In a vision of sure greatness, I imagined playing this game with Nick. In my vision, he was happily throwing away all his old college textbooks, clothes, and other random things he hasn't touched in years. So I tried it that very day. I would hold something up and ask him if it was pertinent or not pertinent. It worked for a few minutes, then he started going through MY stuff. Not cool.
Even now, a couple weeks later, he still gets me. I found THE cutest pair of shoes the other day, but they weren't pertinent. And when I wanted to make cookies - you guessed it, not pertinent. One day I'll get him good...

Weekend News
For some reason, I feel like I can't post anything without a picture. Well, I have no pictures from the weekend, but I do have some news. Well, not really "news" - I just want to share the happenings of this past weekend.
I really wanted to go see the new Batman movie this weekend. But, they were talking about the premiere on the news and showed pictures of people standing in line for hours to get in, so Nick said no - too many people. And I didn't have my batman suit. So instead, we scrounged up ALL the pennies, nickels, and dimes in the entire house (the quarters all went in my purse) and went to the coinstar machine and got some cash. $16.66! Impressive I know. So we bought some ice cream (Dreyer's Take the Cake - heaven!) and rented a couple movies at the Redbox.
10,000 BC and Cloverfield. We watched BC on friday night. I really enjoyed it. We only had to stop it a few times so I could explain to Nick what just happened. And of course, he fell asleep at the end so I had to tell him how it ended. But he liked it too. Then we made a long list of fun things we wanted to do on Saturday. Of course we had to fit in studying for my test and preparing Nick's sunday school lesson (his new calling - 16 & 17 year olds). But on Saturday we got up and neither one of us wanted to do anything on the list. So we just kinda bummed around and drove each other nuts. We had to get out of the house, so we went and returned BC. Exciting, I know.
Then we watched Cloverfield. HORRIBLE! Do not watch it! It made us both sick. It was an hour and twelve minutes of someone running around with a video camera - not even kidding. You know the type: they move too fast, bounce around, don't really focus on anything. Then throw in a giant spidery monster attacking Manhattan. Total waste of a dollar plus tax. Nick did get a good nap in though. He doesn't watch movies very well - he always falls asleep.
It was just before 9:00 when we finished the movie, so we decided to go and return it so we wouldn't waste another dollar plus tax on a stupid movie. Then we went to Texas Roadhouse! Heaven. I live for their rolls and loaded sweet potato. And the steak is good, too.

Idaho and Trailer Girls
Last weekend, I got to go to St George to see my girls. We had so much fun! Annie, Toni, Shannon and I went to breakfast. We put the camera on a rock - hence the weird angle :)
Toni Mae gave me this huge bubble wand. It is amazing! It makes tons of huge bubbles, and you don't have to keep redipping. And get this - it smells like berries! It's true.It was an insanely long drive (took me 10 hours to get home!) but it was totally worth it! I miss St George!

Spring Fever
Last night Nick wanted cupcakes with fluffy white frosting. Instead, we made cupcakes with pink, blue, green, and yellow frosting. They were so cute, I just had to take a picture!
I hate to brag (ok I really don't), but they taste even better than they look! Yummy...

The Hinckley Challenge
I got an email today about the Hinckley Challenge: to read the Book of Mormon in 97 days. This is to honor President Hinckley, who was 97 when he died. There is a website set up for it www.hinckleychallenge.com. You create a log in, and then you can enter in your progress everyday and it will tell you how many pages you have left, and how many per day to meet your goal. It can't hurt, right? It will be a challenge to do it, especially during this semester, but it will be good for me. I'll put my graph on the page so you can see how I'm doing (and it will keep me motivated).

Twilight
I just finished Twilight last night. So intense! I can't wait to read New Moon...
Which Twilight novel character are you?

You're Bella Swan - You are intelligent and kind but not quite sure what you want out of life yet. You have a feeling there's something more out there for you. You're attracted to those who are real and avoid the fake. Sometimes you're a bit accident prone, but your true friends will always be loyal to you and come to your aid when you need it.
