All Black

All Black è un modello studiato apposta per usare un filato nero, un pochino spesso e lucido. Il risultato mi piace tantissimo perchè non è banale pur essendo semplice e poi da tempo volevo regalarmi uno sfizio così!

All Black is a pattern designed to use a medium thickness yarn, in a shiny black colour. I love it because the result is interesting though simple and I‘ve been desiring such a whim for so long!

Il classico millefoglie

Come capita spesso conservavo un magnifico ingrediente in dispensa da diversi anni e, pur non essendoci una data di scadenza, mi sembrava ormai giunto il momento di farci qualcosa di buono. Ma quale ricetta usare? Alla fine, delusa da tante proposte originali ma poco adatte, mi sono buttata sul classico.

Facile ma non banale, traforato quanto basta, ma soprattutto capace di valorizzare i colori e le delicate sfumature di una preziosissima matassa tinta a mano!

Un classico scialle triangolare non può mancare nel repertorio di ogni knitter, ed ecco servito il millefoglie a modo mio!

I’ve been keeping a wonderful ingredient in the pantry for years and, although there is no expiration date, it was high time to do something good with it. But which recipe to choose? In the end, bored by so many original but disappointing ideas, I jumped on the classic.

Easy but not trivial, lacy as required, but above all capable of enhancing the colors and the delicate nuances of a precious hand-dyed skein, here is served the millefoglie in my way: a classic triangular shawl can not miss in the repertoire of every knitter!

MenoUno è servito!

Alla fine c’ho preso gusto, ed il risultato mi piace assai! Complice il tepore e la luce di questa bellissima giornata ho fatto le foto ed ho caricato il modello di MenoUno su Ravelry.

In the end I enjoyed this knit a lot and I like very much the result! Helped by the warmth and light of this beautiful day I took the pictures and loaded the MenoUno pattern on Ravelry.

Medusa

Medusa è una soffice mantella lavorata in tondo. Si inizia dal collo avviando le maglie in modo tradizionale oppure con l’avviamento decorativo a due capi riportato anche nelle istruzioni. La sfilatura delle maglie darà un effetto estremamente leggero e arioso al bordo inferiore.

Medusa is a top-down cape knitted in the round with circular needles. You may choose to cast on using the long-tail method or the double-strand technique explained also in the pattern notes. In the lower part dropped stitches create an open and airy effect.

Il mio Amaryllis

Con una tradizione familiare importante, una nonna e una mamma che sanno far fiorire le pietre, avrei dovuto esserci portata… invece niente! Eppure ci sono state stagioni della vita in cui sono riuscita a coltivare e a godere della bellezza dei fiori! Ora non ho un posto ed un’esposizione adatti… mi giustifico e mi assolvo!

E se a Natale non avrò questo Amaryllis… mi consolerò con il mio…

With a strong family tradition, a grandmother and a mother who can get flowers from rocks, I should have had a natural inclination ... but nothing! Yet there have been seasons of life in which I was able to cultivate and enjoy the beauty of flowers! Actually I do not have a suitable place and exposure ... I justify and absolve myself!

And if I cannot have this Amaryllis for Christmas... I will console myself with mine ...

Pensando ai regali

Non sarò mica l’unica a pensare già a qualche lavoretto veloce da fare per Natale, o no? Ho dei gomitoli soli soletti, tutti colorati, che si prestano bene per questo collo da fare all’uncinetto in una sola serata. L’ho chiamato “Colorama” e l’ho reso disponibile su Ravelry sperando che ispiri anche voi!

Hopefully I won’t be the only one who’s already thinking about quick Christmas gifts! I made this fancy cowl crocheting a single skein of a colourful yarn and I called it “Colorama”and it’s now available on Ravelry. I takes an evening to be finished and maybe it could be inspiring for you too!

Soffici pennellate

Un’idea semplice per valorizzare un filato sfumato in modo graduale come il Sesia Duffy, oppure per mescolare una tinta unita ad un gomitoli variegato in modo molto vivace. Il pattern è Ariel, ora scaricabile singolarmente da Ravelry.

Carolyn e Noemi

Le emozioni che dà il blog sono tante e diverse. Quando penso di esserci abituata, ecco che scopro qualcosa di inaspettato e tenero!

Due bimbe, Carolyn e Noemi. Stessa età e giochi, ma un oceano le separa. Amano leggere ma in lingue diverse. Altro particolare in comune, le loro mamme sferruzzano... e poi mettono le foto in rete.

Per me è una piccola grande gioia accostare le foto, e pensare che cosa meravigliosa è intrecciare i fili di lana e i fili delle nostre vite. Così simili. Così lontani.

Writing a blog can give you a variety of emotions. And just when I think I got used to this, then I discover something unexpected and tender!

Two daughters, Carolyn and Noemi. Same age and games, but an ocean to separate them. Both fond of reading but in a different language. Another thing in common, their moms do knit ... and post pictures on the internet.

For me it’s a great little joy to place these photos side by side, thinking how wonderful is to weave the threads of wool and threads of our lives. So similar and so far.

Sviluppi

Desideravo da tempo rendere più complete le istruzioni del top Corolla ed ora finalmente ce l’ho fatta! Il pattern singolo è disponibile su Ravelry con le istruzioni dalla taglia S alla XL anche in inglese. Sono soddisfatta di questi “Sviluppi”!

I was longing to make more complete the instructions for Corolla sleeveless top and I did it at last! Now the single pattern is available on Ravelry with instructions in English for sizes S to XL. I’m happy with these improvements!

Onda

Un cardigan semplice ma d’effetto. Una costruzione interessante sia sui ferri circolari che su quelli dritti. Onda è adattissimo a queste prime giornate d’autunno e sono felice di condividere nuovamente questo pattern su Ravelry.

I "Sockni"

E alla fine ho ceduto ai "Sockini", calze per piedini... non proprio piccolissimi.

L'idea è nata durante la preparazione di Manualmente. Ho scritto le spiegazioni pensandole per la tecnica del Magic Loop, le ho spiegate e corrette durante i workshop, ed infine ho messo tutto in bella copia!

At last I gave in and made "Sockini", tiny baby socks...

I was arranging things for Manualmente exhibition, and I wrote down instructions to make socks with the Magic Loop technique. I tested and edited them during the worshops and finally I wrote a fair copy!

Techno Sock

Il ricordo di #gioiadarte ancora freschissimo e la voglia di condividere ancora tutto mi hanno spinta a sistemare il pattern Techno Sock preparato per l'occasione e caricarlo come schema free su Ravelry.

E' una specie di calzino, simpatico e veloce da fare. Si adatta facilmente alle dimensioni del vostro tablet, e vi consente di portarlo in giro con praticità, afferrandolo per il bordo a coste!

Denti Aguzzi ovvero “knitted lace in the round”

Anche se a volte ci vuole tempo, è una piccola soddisfazione abbinare filato e modello!

Lavorando il mio Nori ho capito, purtroppo a mie spese, quanto sia impegnativo il “knitted lace”. Bisogna infatti lavorare i gettati e le diminuzioni sia sul diritto che sul rovescio del lavoro. In tal modo si ottiene un motivo molto delicato in cui i fori sono separati da un singolo filo. La maggior parte dei lavori traforati si classifica invece come “lace knitting” che, tecnicamente parlando, è una lavorazione più semplice. In quest’ultimo caso il motivo è infatti eseguito solo sul diritto, mentre il ritorno è un tranquillissimo ferro a rovescio. Ad un occhio esperto la differenza è evidente perchè i fori risultano separati da due fili intrecciati!

La cosa bella è che, se lavorato in tondo, il temutissimo “knitted lace” si addomestica moltissimo! Utilizzando un’unica bellissima matassa di Malabrigo Rios, ho provato a realizzare un collo traforato in tondo, e così ne è venuto fuori il mio “Denti Aguzzi” che, vi assicuro, abbaia ma non morde! L’unica raccomandazione che faccio è quella di avviare il lavoro in modo molto morbido, possibilmente usando la tecnica del German Twisted Cast On .

Sometimes it takes a lot to combine yarn and pattern stitch, or maybe it’s just a mattern of inspiration.

Working my latest lace project Nori, I realized how difficult “knitted lace” could be You have to perform yo’s and decreases both on right and wrong side od work, thus obtaining a lace mesh with holes being separated by a single strand of yarn. If lace pattern is worked on right side of work only, it’s called “lace knitting” and produces holes separated by two twisted threads.

Could knitted lace be easier if worked in the round, always facing the right side of work? I decided to give it a try with a small project requiring one single skein of a gourgeous Malabrigo Rios yarn. So, this is how my Denti Aguzzi cowl was born. It’s easier than it seems! All I have to recommend is to cast on very loosely, using if possible the method called German Twisted Cast On .

Per continuare a condividere

Qualche volta torno indietro nel tempo a rileggere vecchi post su questo blog un po' antico...le foto delle "bimbe" molto più bimbe di adesso, gli entusiasmi da cui mi sono lasciata catturare, le emozioni e le soddisfazioni che ho provato a condividere. E le malinconie, le paure che ho dissimulato anche a me stessa, sono pure qui, come buchi che non sono riuscita a riempire, e che forse prima o poi dimenticherò. Rimarranno solo le cose più belle!

Nel weekend di san Valentino vorrei festeggiare l'amicizia tra knitters, perchè pur tra alti e bassi i nostri progetti ci spingano sempre avanti! Andando su Ravelry dal 14 al 16 Febbraio potrete scegliere e scaricare gratis uno di questi modelli.

Sometimes I go back in time and I read here and there old posts in this aging blog... I'm surprised by the pics of my girls, I hardly remember them being so young. At times I was so enthusiastic about things and so proud to share my satisfaction. But here, in the voids I didn't manage to fill, I meet my fears and sadnesses as well. I'm sure I'll forget them, only the best part will last in the end!

Il “pattern” è servito!

Il maglione della cicatrice di Harry Potter è stato finito e indossato con piacere durante le vacanze natalizie, ed ora anche le spiegazioni sono pronte e disponibili su Ravelry. La foto della mia pattinatrice "in action" non sarà perfetta ma mi rende orgogliosa, e non solo perchè indossava il maglione più magico che c'è...

My HP'scar sweater has been Sabrina's favourite outfit during our Christmas holidays. The pattern is available through Ravelry. Her photo although blurred makes me proud for many reasons, not only because she was wearing the most magical sweater I ever made...

Il rosso porta bene…

E allora meglio crederci! Di sicuro è un colore allegro e particolarmente gradito in questo periodo. Questi guantini sono stati un regalino super veloce, lavorati durante un lungo viaggio ma pronti all’arrivo! La ricetta è velocissima e vi rimando a Ravelry per tutti i dettagli… però giuro che i prossimi li preparo con largo anticipo. Magari inizio a Ferragosto!

Red is my favourite colour, it brings good luck, is strong and energetic and fits perfectly with the season. These mittens are a quick gift, made during a long journey and ready to wear at the arrival!
