Life

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -- Mark Twain

I try! But it's hard because there's too much to explore! :)

Oh that's a great quote! Of course, I probably should not say that as the waters rise where I live. I may need that boat of which he speaks....

I love Mark Twain. He has so many memorable and wise quotes. Words to live by. Though today, so many people are scared to take chances, me among them. Though this could also apply to creative endeavors rather than physical journeys.

As you know Dan, Sam Clemens is perhaps my favorite writer. And, as you also know, I've spent my life dancing on the edge. In October I'm planning to fly to Bucharest to spend sometime with a woman with whom I've been communicating for several months now. I'll will have to tell you about her. I think you would really like her.

Well, Stickup, for me I think life is just chancy by nature. I guess it is safer to sit at home than stand on the edge of a cliff, but then, even there, chance can play in. A plane crashes through your roof. The chances of that are slim, but it does happen. It all comes down to calculated risks, and whether one has thought through the scenarios, perhaps. I am willing to take calculated risks, but I won't lay my life on the line for blind chance.
