FAVOURITE EMBELLISHMENT?

Morning Everyone,

A little late with my post today for As You Like It where the theme is "Favourite Embellishment".

If I don't do a full on fancy card my favourites are pearls or enamel dots, which ever suits the card best.  I have used pearls this time as they are more elegant looking and balance the card off as I thought the white space looked a bit too bare.  I have used my CraftAddiction slatted circle die and flowers from Spellbinders.  The birthday tags are also from CraftAddiction and the colour scheme of turquiose and gold is to enter into their Facebook page challenge.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I would like to enter:

Early visit to the dentist this morning for a check up and thankfully all clear. That was one reason why I'm late with my post. I really don't like going and worry about it beforehand.  Anyway, better late than never!

See you soon and thank you for visiting.

TOOLS R US

 Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It and we are asking "who is your favourite person to craft for?".

I love making for all family members, but I have chosen hubby this time.  He knows I don't really like/make many masculine cards so when I make the effort for him he really appreciates it.

For this card I have used tool dies from Sweet Dixie.  I have die cut them in snippets of red, grey and silver mirri card and arranged them around the die cut numbers.  The sentiments are from a Woodware stamp set also containing diy tools.  He is definitely a Mr. Fix It so I thought the words were very apt for him.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I would like to enter:

Snippets Playground - all tools and numbers are from snippets, but no photo sorry.

I hope you can join us.   Thank you for your visit and I will be back soon.

FAVOURITE COLOUR

 Morning Everyone,

A new challenge starts today at As You Like It and we would like to see a project using your favourite colour.

Blue has always been my favourite colour.  This has graduated to purples too, but I used blue for this card mainly because I found the image partly coloured in a folder recently with a blue hydrangea.  Not sure why it was there though, but best to get it used!

The cute little kitten is from Di's Digistamps and I have coloured with copics.  The large circle die is from Spellbinders and I've used old papers from stash to complete the card.  The sentiment is from a Penny Black set and I've made the two enamel type dots by adding  glossy accents to die cut circles.

The sponsor for the prize is:

Thank you for popping by and have a good day.

CUTE OR ELEGANT?

 Morning Everyone,

Today sees the start of a new challenge over at As You Like It where the theme is "Cute or Elegant?".

I do like to make cute cards for children, but more often than not my makes are floral.   I make quite a few for an elderly aunt to give to her friends.  For this card I have used a Stampin Up layered peony in cream and used snippets of green and brown papers for the die cuts.  The sentiment is heat embossed in gold and from MFT.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I would like to enter:

Snippets Playground - Snippets used were green leaves, square, sentiment and scalloped brown paper, but no photo sorry.

I hope you can join us in the challenge and you can pop over here to see the inspiration from the rest of the DT.

Have a good weekend.

FAVOURITE DIE?

 Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It and we are asking you to share a project using your favourite die.

I use quite a few dies but for this challenge have chosen my Waffle Flower postage collage as a favourite.  It's very flexible and can be used as it is or cut up to create any style of card you wish.  It can also be used for any small stamps and not just the stencils that co-ordinate with the die.

I have used the spring flowers stencil on this one, cut them out and used a butterfly die and small flowers.  The sentiment has been heat embossed in gold. The colours of the tulips and small flowers look blue in the photo, but they are purple. I used little snippets for the butterfly and flowers, but no photo, sorry.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I would likje to enter:

Simon Says Weds - Anything goes
Snippets Playground - Snippets used for the flowers and butterfly

Thank you for your visit and I hope you have a good weekend when it gets here.

FAVOURITE OCCASION?

 Morning Everyone,

We're back at As You Like It after the Christmas break and asking to see your favourite type of card to make.

Mine are birthday cards. They're the ones I make the most and when they're for a family member I like to make them according to their interests when I can.

This one was for the grandson.  He's mad about Spiderman and his friends and I found this image on Etsy. I tend not to colour images for little ones as they are quicker to make and they don't know whether it's hand coloured or not.  This is a larger than normal card, A5 size, and all I had to do was print out the image and find papers to match, which are from a Doodlebug pad.

I hope you can join us for the first challenge of the year.  Thank you for visiting and have a good day.

CHRISTMAS

 Morning Everyone,

A new challenge is starting over at As You Like It and the theme is anything Christmas.

For my DT card I have chosen to have a play with a new die from Concord & 9th called Ornament Inlay die.  I die cut it first in the off white cardstock and then, after I decided on the colours, added snippets of coloured card to the die and die cut again and again.  The only bits I haven't used snippets on are the holly and leaves as I wanted a soft green so used ink on those.  The circles in the middle are silver mirri card although they look black in the photo.

The sentiment is from a Woodware set and is heat embossed in silver.

We look forward to seeing all your Christmassy projects.  I think I'm about done with mine now.  I've been stamping the insides of my cards this week, which is my least favourite job.  I suppose I should complete the insides as I finish a card then I wouldn't have them all to do at once!

I would like to enter:

Snippets Playground - The blue, peach, corners and berries were all snippets,  although I didn't take a photo, sorry.
Christmas Kickstart - Anything Christmassy
Creative Inspirations - 'Tis the Season
Crafty Calendar - Christmas

Have a good day and thank you for visiting.

GOLD, SILVER OR GLITTER

 Morning Everyone,

A new challenge is starting over at As You Like It and we would like to know whether you prefer gold, silver or glitter on your cards.

I do like all three, but when green and red are involved I prefer to use gold as it suits them better.  For my card I have used a wreath die from CraftAddiction and cut it out with differing shades of green designer paper.  The poinsettias are from a Spellbinders set, the bow from Alex Syberia and the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. I've added some gold glitter paste on some of the leaves and gold enamel dots to finish it off.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

Busy day here today, well every day seems to be busy on the run up to Christmas!  I hope you have a good one whatever you may be doing.

FAVOURITE EMBELLISHMENT?

Morning Everyone,

A new challenge starts over at As You Like It and we would like you to share a project containing your favourite embellishment.

Mine are definitely pearls and enamel dots.  They're not too bulky for posting and add a little bit of extra prettiness to a card.

I have used Pinkfresh Studio washi tape for this card and cut the pieces out with their respective dies.  The sentiment is from the same company and has been heat embossed in gold.  Sparkly enamel dots used this time as I didn't have the right colours in pearls.

I hope you can join us.  Thank you for visiting and have a good day.

FAVOURITE CRITTER?

Good Morning Everyone,

Back again for the start of a new challenge over at As You Like It where we are asking you to share your projects containing a favourite critter.

Not in real life as I would freak if there was one in the house, but colouring wise I do love these cute mice with their big ears and they are easy to colour too.  This is a digi stamp from Di's digi designs. I've had it for ages and never coloured it up before so thought it was time.

I have used copics to colour and papers from a pad which seems to have gone walkies so I can't remember the make.  After I'd coloured quite a bit I had an ink mark where it couldn't be hidden so I fussy cut the image and glued it to another die cut circle.  I thought it was ruined at first but then thought they would be fairly easy to cut out so that it what I did.  The sentiment is from a Penny Black set.

RIBBON OR TWINE?

 Morning Everyone,

It's time for a new challenge over at As You Like It and and we are asking whether you prefer ribbon or twine on your projects.

I've had several attempts at my photo for this card but can't seem to get a good picture.  I've settled for this one, it is a bit darker than in irl but the others were too light.

Just lately I've been using more twine as I find it easier to tie a small bow and it's not so bulky as ribbon.
I have used a Spellbinders set called Hello You.  Die cut everything with coloured card and used ink for the darker shady bits.  The frame is from Pinkfresh Studio and the die inside the frame is an unbranded one from Amazon.    The orange paper is from a LOTV pad and mini tags from CraftAddiction.  I do like how you can imprint the words on these rather than having to use a stamp.

SQUARE OR NOT AT AYLI

 Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It and this week wold like to know whether you prefer to make square cards or not and don't forget to give your reason why please.

I do make both square and rectangular cards but square are my favourite as there seems to be more space on them to fit things in.  I usually make 6" square, but this one is a 7" and I definitely needed it for the large sentiment which is from Memory Box.

The cocktail glass etc are from Spellbinders and I have cut it out with gold card and then used coloured card for all the extras with a bit of inking on them for more depth.  The sentiment has been cut twice, once in white and once in gold and I've offset it a tiny bit so you can see the gold.  Some pearls and a little pearly heart finish it off.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I hope you can join us and you can pop over here to see the inspiration from the rest of the design team.

Have a good day and thank you for your visit.

FAVOURITE DIE?

Morning Everyone,

It's the start of a new challenge at As You Like It and we are asking you to share a project containing your favourite die (and don't forget to say why please).

Just lately mine seems to be this arch die from Spellbinders.  It makes a change from the usual square, rectangle etc and looks good on whichever shape card you choose.  A smaller arch die has been used to cut out the middle and make the frame.

I have used it with a digistamp by Louise Dunne which you can buy from CraftAddictionUK.  I've coloured him with copics and to insert the background die, which is from Memory Box, I have fussy cut him up to his scarf and slid the tree die and snow layer underneath so there are 3 layers under the arch as well as the red mat layer.  White glitter has been added to the trees and glitter glue to the snow.  The labels are also from CraftAddiction.

LAYERED OR FLAT?

Morning Everyone,

I hope you're having a good week.  Today is the start of a new challenge at As You Like It  and we are asking whether you prefer your cards to be layered or flat and don't forget to say why please.

I love having layers on my cards but if it is being posted I try to make them as flat as possible.  They don't have to be very thick to have the price bumped up.

For this card I have used an image from a LOTV art pad and die cut with a Creative Expressions square postage stamp die.  This was adhered to a piece of pink paper to match the image, another larger stamp die, some lacy trim and a piece of deep pink for the backing paper.  No embellishments as I didn't think they were needed, just a sentiment also from LOTV.

The sponsor for the challenge is:
I hope you can pop over and see the inspiration from the rest of the DT.
Have a good day. I have quite a busy one today so no time for crafting I'm afraid.

FAVOURITE COLOURING MEDIUM

 Morning Everyone,

A new challenge starts today over at As You Like It and we are asking you to share a project using your favourite colouring medium

Copics are my favourite markers mainly because I have used them from the start of my crafting journey and I have lots of colours.  I would like to try pencils some day but I never seem to have much time or, if I'm not happy with the results straight away, patience either!

For my card I have used a Gina K designs stamp set call Wishful Florals, cut them out with their dies and adhered them to my silver frame, which I think is an unbranded die from Amazon.  I've had it for ages so can't quite remember where it's from.  The sentiment is heat embossed and from Pinkfresh Studio.  Clear and purple dots were added for a bit of sparkle.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

with a prize for the lucky winner

I would like to enter:

FAVOURITE SEASON

Morning Everyone,

It's the start of a new challenge over at As You Like It and we are asking you to share a project which relates to your favourite season.

Mine is Spring.  I love it when the garden starts to wake up again with lovely Spring flowers after being so bare in the winter months.  It also means we are on the way to warmer weather.

For my card I have used three freebie images called Spring Botanicals from Uniko and coloured them with copics.  I have layered them up with co-ordinating colours and adhered them to wood effect white card.  Green and white twine and tiny labels from Mama Elephant finish it off.

CATS OR DOGS?

Morning Everyone,

A new challenge is starting today over at As You Like It  and we are asking whether you prefer "Cats or Dogs" and don't forget to say why they are your favourite please.

Mine has to be dogs. I've never owned a cat and dogs are such good company and loving pets. We lost one of our little boys last year but still have our ruby KC Cavalier, Charlie, who gets thoroughly spoiled by hubby.

Whilst having a browse on Etsy for something, can't remember what now, I found these fun images of dogs so thought I would have a play with them.  You get 10 different images for your purchase and they're on sale for £1.77.  I thought I would go bright and used MFT zig zag and balloon dies and also a MFT sentiment heat embossed in white.  All the brights are cut out from snippets.

NON CARD PROJECTS AT AYLI

Morning Everyone,

A mew challenge starts today at As You Like It and the theme is  to share your favourite "Non Card Projects".

The only thing I am making at the moment that's not a card are these knitted poppies.  Our village church has put a request in the local magazine for them as they want to make a cascade from the top of the church tower to the ground for Remembrance Day in November.  I thought that gives me plenty of time to make a few so found two different patterns on the internet and these are the first four I've made.

I've actually run out of wool now as I didn't have a full ball so am awaiting a delivery of more tomorrow.

Have a good day and I will be back soon.

FAVOURITE 2 COLOUR COMBO

 Morning Everyone,

We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It and we would like you to share a project featuring your favourite 2 colour combo.

I have chosen yellow and green as I think it's so clean and fresh looking.  I have used another Altenew layering stamp set called Wildly Loved with various shades of yellow and cut everything out with their respective dies.   The sentiment is from Crafter's Companion, which I've cut in a gold cardstock and a few gold sparkly enamel dots were added to finish it off.

The sponsor for the challenge is:

I hope you can join us and I look forward to seeing which is the most popular combination.

I'm up early today as I have a hair appointment at 8.30 and then playing tennis later today. Hope it's not going to be too warm.  See you soon,

SENTIMENT OR NOT AT AYLI

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope everyone is well. We have a new challenge starting over at As You Like It and we are asking whether you prefer to have a sentiment on your cards or not (and don't forget to say why please).

I always put a sentiment on my cards.  I think it finishes them off and it's also the first thing the recipient reads.

I have used these cute dies from Honey Bee stamps again called Bundle of Joy, but this time for a boy. I've just had a look at my last one and can't believe it's 2 years since I made it! Where does the time go to.  I've used the same layout as before, but with snippets of more boyish papers.  The Congrats die is from Creative Expressions and the strip underneath made on the pc.

I would like to enter:

Crafty Calendar - Add a Sentiment
Crafty Catz - Anything Goes
Penny's Paper Crafty - Anything Goes
Snippets Playground - Baby clothes and hangers are snippets, but no photo, sorry

I look forward to seeing your entries, have a good day.  I am cat sitting this week while the daughter is away and go twice a day to feed him so that's what I will be doing next.

See you soon,

Lynne x
