Bishan Park - An Escapade

Image
Recently, I have incorporated jogging in my morning routine. And it's good feeling to even just jog for 15 minutes. And bringing my family to Bishan Park adds up the morning fun. Around 8 am, Bishan Park has cool and refreshing air. Eve and Gwen will usually cycle to Bishan Park. Kate and I will take public transport and we will stroll and admire the greens while we walk to another bus stop to hop onto another bus service. The playground has no one and Kate will be so enthusiastic to comment that she is the first one to arrive! 4 of us. Kinda tough to get a wefie pic Sand playing is one of the relaxing activities that my children can play, apart from the usual swings, slides and climbing of obstacles. The best part is they can actually create their own imaginative world of sandcastles, without even me directing them. Eve will be near them drawing simple landscapes of the park. For me, I will be doing my jogging and some statics at Bishan Park. It's really enjoyable. I...

Bishan Park

Bishan Park certainly has it's beauty and the fusion of nature and man-made river is well planned! We managed to walk across a small part of the Kallang Basin River, that cuts across the Bishan Park. I'm just so proud that Kate is brave enough to walk with me through the rocks across the small river!  Amazingly, there are so many small fishes and the river water is warm. Kate is so delighted to see the fishes and we hold hands together as we crossed the rocks! It will be great if we can bring some small fishing nets and a container, to let the children try their luck in catching small fishes!  It's been awhile since we brought Steady down to Bishan Park and he's really so happy to come here! Josh and Kate were feeding the fishes with the bread and Steady also wants to be fed too! So comical. Really feel that we should make more effort to come to Nature Parks in Singapore. Totally calming, relaxing and therapeutic. To add on to the wonde...

Catching Fish

Image
We were walking along Bishan Park and happened to coincidentally see a group of people casting their fishing net, catching fishes at the large canal!  I was so amazed by their catching skills and didn't expect to know that there are so many edible fishes to catch at the canal! We walked along the Bishan Park, to a place where there are steps down to the canal. Josh and Kate were adventurous enough to want to walk the stairs down by themselves!   Is it fish or fishes? Both of them were so curious to see how the actual fishing was done! I, myself was also fascinated by it! Eve was at home taking care of Gwen when we were outdoors. Otherwise, she would also can get to see a glimpse of how fishing can be done at canals! A fish being caught!   Josh and Kate were amazed that fish can be caught just like that from the canal and into the bucket. Poor little fish (opps)   Look at the red bucket! It's actually filled with fishes and I c...

Walk in Bishan Park

Image
On Sunday morning, I decided to bring Josh and Kate to Bishan Park! They are all so excited!! And we even brought something new this time - Bread! We intend to feed some of the fishes there. They cycled there and we went down to the large drain along Bishan Depot. The children were so happy to see large apple snails, and Josh even pointed to me the apple snail eggs! He remembered the name too. So proud of him. This small park connector is so amazing. It connects the main road to the Bishan Park, overseeing the Bishan Depot. They threw the bread crumbs one by one. Strangely, the small fishes didn't eat any of the bread. After awhile, Kate realized it and I discovered her eating the bread instead.  Think she didn't want to waste them! So funny right? Love her! Kate puts the bread crumbs into the drain, Each has their own bread plastic bags. Caught in the act! Feed herself while feeding the fishes! My Kate just makes me laugh out loud! Bisha...

Rainfall and Fun!

Yesterday, I brought my two children out for a Bishan Park walk and it's really a cool morning, just that it was cloudy. They both cycled to Bishan Park and there were so many people exercising! Everything was so fine and at the bridge, someone gave us bread. To eat? No. It's to feed the fishes illegally. We did and the children love to see the tortoise and fish eat the tough solid overdue bread! It started to drizzle slightly and we headed to the nearest place to eat. MacDonald's! What do you expect? The only fast food restaurant happily beaming at you early in the morning! That's really once in a while breakfast. Josh reminded me that it's one time and he even told Kate that we are going to have breakfast at MacDonald's! She didn't really understand what's that, so she didn't show any excitement! We bought Breakfast Deluxe ala carte because I do not want them to eat hash brown and drink tea too. We went to a nearby shelter and it was really nic...

Bishan Park adventure

Image
Can you imagine that a guy with two kids stranded at a Bishan Park connector? How can that happen?! We were happily strolling along the Bishan Park connector and viewing the train depot, the big Kallang river (or drain) and the scenery. Josh's riding skills on his balance bike has improved tremendously! Now, when crossing small road paths, he will automatically alight from his bike, and push it across. I'm just so glad that he knows what he is doing. Can't wait when all of us can cycle together in two wheels and venture to different parts of Singapore at night! Josh and his Bike and the Angry Bird Bag. He is so confident in the bike. After taking this pic, he passed me his bag. -_-! Happy children! We then decided to rest awhile at the benches. Kate resting on the bench. She really loves to lie down anywhere! Here comes the horror story! Later, I noticed that it started to drizzle! Oh no! I didn't have an umbrella. We are quite a distance from...
