Once upon a time - A.B.Studio

Hi there! It's Friday and that means a new process video on my YouTube again! This time it's a scrapbooking layout for A.B.Studio.

I went with neutral tones in this one and finally documented a photo I've been saving for years and years. I have a folder with "scrapbook these" photos. As you may have noticed, I've done just a few layouts during recent years so the photos in that folder have been waiting for quite a while. This photo is of my husband reading a bed time story to our two daughters before they headed out to the tent to sleep. I'm not that keen to camping so we were camping on my mother-in-law's garden!

If you want to see how the layout is made, please see the process video below.

I mixed two collections, "Diary" and "Cream" here as they both had papers with lovely neutral tones. The bigger pieces are from "Cream" but the decorations are from "Diary". You can see the A.B.Studio materials listed below.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely weekend!

My Sweet Baking - A.B.Studio

Hi there! It's again Friday and that means a new process video! This time it's a layout for A.B.Studio. I used the new "A piece of cake" collection here.

As you may have noticed, I'm not doing that many layouts anymore these days. It's partly because my girls are so grown up now that I don't feel comfortable using their photos and stories in projects that come to the internet. I let them document their own things. But sometimes a collection fits so nicely to an old photo, that I just have to do a layout! That was the case with this one.

I've had this photo of my daughter baking in my "scrap these" album for so long - according to the date about six years. So, when I got this baking inspired collection, I had to finally make a page with this photo. I had a pair of photos of both of my daughters baking, but I guess I've done the other photo into a layout back in the day, but this one has stayed in the album. They were baking at their grandmother's house, with headscarves like my grannies used to do it.

As you could see from the video above, I used gesso, Modeling Paste and inks to create that background. While the gesso layer reminded me of flour, tossed across the baking table, I wanted to add some color on top. I tried to mimic the purple / pink tones in the collection with my ink choices.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a great weekend! Be safe!

Ps. Remember the FB live happening right now (in Finnish) and the other tomorrow (in English)! Now I'm live on my blog's FB page (link) and tomorrow at Finnabair's group (link)

Loved, Brave, Persist - A.B.Studio

Hello there! How are you doing today? It's been a bit hectic at work here, but hopefully there's smoother days ahead. Today I'm sharing a layout I did for A.B.Studio. This one is made using one of the new collections called "Rustical Time". You can see all the used A.B.Studio materials with links underneath the next photo.

The person in the photos is my daughter and these snap shots are taken some years back at a running event. She was quite anxious about the race, but we walked the cross country route before hand and she did well.

I added some mixed media layers to the background but they don't show that well as the paper is so deliciously rustic and grungy on its own already. But there's some white crackle paste and Distress Inks through stencils and some stamping there.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a great week!

Happiness is in the moments - layout

Hi there and happy new week! Today I'm sharing another black and white layout that I did as an example for the workshop I'm keeping at Craftaamo, a Finnish crop in the autumn. You can see the workshop announcement post here (link) and the first sample layout here (link).

I was actually crafting some elements for this workshop today. Or rather, my Cricut was. I'm always enjoying the kitting stage in a workshop. It's so fun! Like wrapping tiny little gifts and putting them together! I still need to source a couple of things and then I can start kitting. Not that there's hurry as there's several months until the workshops, but I want to send the materials in by post to make it a bit easier to travel there.

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great week! And stay safe everyone!

Honey and a hat - layout

Hi there! Yesterday I blogged the announcement (link) that I'll be keeping two workshops at Craftaamo craft event this autumn. One of them was a canvas workshop and the other this layout. The registration to workshops in the event was yesterday.

I was asked to do a layout workshop for the event and as I haven't done that many layouts lately, I wanted it to have a twist of some sort. Not sure where the black and white theme arose, but I thought that was the solution to have it a bit different. The layout starts with pieces of solid cardstock, but in the end there's patterns on both!

The photo in the layout is my younger one, several years ago. There was an event with hats in the kindergarten and I made that little hat(ish thing) on top of a diadem. She got to choose the colors and trims and was really happy with the result.

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great Tuesday and stay safe everyone!

See the World - A.B.Studio

Heippa! Today I'm sharing a layout I made for A.B.Studio. It's made mixing "Follow the Rabbit" collection with "Around the World" collection.

The photo in the page is taken in Norway. It's a stone fence near a tiny church facing the mighty sea. If I'm correct the place is called Varhaug Gamle Gravlund. I've been there twice and I'm mesmerized by the place. The church is so small that only a couple of people fit inside. But outside is a field of green and then the vast horizon. Such a beautiful place!

I wanted to highlight the greenery so I picked up a green paper from the "Follow the Rabbit" collection and paired it with a neutral one. To add some grandeur to the page I painted the chipboards with a bronze tone. If you want to see how the page came into being, please see the video underneath!

As you could see from the video, I was mixing green with bronze throughout the page. While I concentrated most of the mixed media touches on top of the green paper, you can see those layers better on the white as the final composition covered most of the background! But, that's how I work. It's not totally about the finished piece, but about the journey. That's how I've ended up in the place where the photo is taken, too. On a journey from Egersund to Stavanger.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a pleasant weekend!

So Much Love - A.B.Studio

Fri-yay! And you know what that means? A new process video! This time it's a layout for A.B.Studio using the new "So much LOVE" collection. I used the neutral papers of the collection as the background and then layered the flowery ones on top.

As you could see from the video, I added mixed media touches to the background. I've recently been very inspired by the PaperArtsy Infusions, so I used them here together with green metallic watercolor. To add a lace looking pattern to the background, I used an A.B.Studio stencil before adding the colorants.

What you could also see was my little boo boo, a mistake. I was thinking of using the bigger flower pieces in the background and then layering smaller ones on top - kind of saving the smaller ones that way. But luckily I was able to mend my mistake! It's a process anyway!

Thank you for stopping by today! Have a great weekend! Stay safe everyone!
