Sewing, sewing and more sewing

I have been keeping super busy with this and that projects over the past few months.  I still can't find a balance with kid activities, sewing, and blogging, so I have just stuck to sewing for the most part.

These pictures are in no particular order.

This adorable Double Irish Chain baby quilt was pieced by my mother and I finished up the quilting on it for her as her health isn't the best right now.

I made these cute durable totes for my kids teachers at the end of the school year.

These blocks are from a Quiltoberfest from 2011 I think.  I started them then, and finally finished them up a few months ago.

This is my Sew Swap It mystery quilt.  I love it.  I sent it out to be quilted.

I used up some fat quarters along with some bright Kona for this pretty that is waiting to be quilted.

Our church moved into a building of its own back in December and I have added a few wall decorations.

I made a new purse from my scraps of another project.

My Mariner's Star wall hanging.  I entered this in our county fair and received Judges Honors.

Sweet baby Emma, has a long road ahead.  She was born on Tuesday.  In the womb she was diagnosed with Trisomy 13, severe cleft pallet, and only has 2 chambers in her heart.  Please pray for her and her family.

My sweet Minnie Mouse,  who could say no to that face when she asks for me to make her a Minnie Mouse dress.

Have a Blessed day my friends,
Debbe

A little story of some squares

There once were some squares (a medium flat rate box full to be exact) that were purchased to finish

A labor of love that looked like this when it was finished.

Which left almost the entire box of little squares, which made their rounds in my sewing room for a good 4 years.  Until one day I was asked to make a 'scrappy table cloth' out of little bits of fabric.   I was quite excited actually even though everyone I told thought I might have fallen off the deep end.

So the little squares found a mate and made pairs.

I then decided that they needed some mixing up and hand mixing wasn't going to do, so into the dryer they went for a few minutes.

Looks about perfect to me.  So out they came and went from twosies to foursies and so on and so forth until all 1,200 came together to look something like this.

A border was added and it was quilted.

The lighting is bad, but you can see the simplicity of it all.

This pretty table cloth went home with it's owner yesterday and is all happy with its new surroundings.

After all of those tiny little squares, I wasn't committed to any psych wards and I have been inspired to bust out an old project from October of 2011 after all that.  I will share when I get the last 3 blocks finished up.

Life's been crazy

Hey all, I hope you are doing well.   My life has been on the extreme side of crazy lately and and hopefully it slows down soon.  Right now I'm thankful that we rent from a great property management company.  A while back we smelled mold in the place we were renting, the smell eventually went away or we got used to it until the day we got a whole lot of rain in one day and then the smell was back and never went away.  We even invested in these cool odor eater air freshener things.   We once again had the maintenance people come out (after my foot almost went through the floor in one spot near a wall) and they had some 'friends' (the mold experts) with them.  So in a period of less than 2 weeks we were told we had to move and were in a new place with all of our belongings.  We have been in the new place for a little over a week now and no one has been sick, had bloodshot eyes, or any other allergy related symptoms.

Living in a receding sea of boxes could be worse.  One day I will be able to get my sewing machine back out and sew.  I already have projects lined up.

This is just all my sewing room stuff.  I have learned that I am a pack-rat.

Have a great day and I hope to be back posting pictures of sewing projects soon.

rambling...

Wow, it has been a while since I sat down and chatted with all of my followers.   Life has been so busy the past few months.  Lots of finishes, a few revelations, and lots of family time.  So I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.  I love facebook so that I can keep up with most of you, when I don't have time to sit and read.

As most of you know I started back to work in March of last year and that has put a stop to a lot of my  me time, but in return I have done a few commissions and have one on the table already this year.     I'm thankful for having a job outside the home so I get out and get to talk to others.  I love staying at home, or at least having the freedom to stay in yoga pants and a t-shirt all day.
