Framing the Bathroom Mirror

Hey, girls!!! We want to warmly welcome a very talented guest writer, Wendy, to the Project!...She turns a boring, old mirror into a chic and sassy one with only VELCRO...So, go get some Velcro and have your local hardware store cut the wood to the size you need and BAM! You've got a great new, stylish mirror and probably made the equity in your home go up, too! Yes! Don't you love that!

Hi everyone, I'm Wendy, my blog is Wendy's Favorite Things. I am so excited to visit today and share with you how to frame your bathroom mirror. You know the one, the big ugly sheet of glass hanging on your bathroom wall. It seems we pay attention to every other detail in the bathroom. The walls have a pretty coat of paint, we have matching towels, candles, nice jars of lotions, etc. I could go on, but you get the picture. Then we come to this
.

I know, it's not very attractive. It's so big and heavy and stuck to the wall. But what the heck can we do with it?

Well, for around $40 and a couple of hours the above mirror now looks like this.

It is so simple you will want to frame every mirror you own. I buy the little squares so I don't have to do a lot of angle cutting. By using the squares you can make a straight cut. Don't worry if you don't have a saw, my Home Depot has a saw right there in the trim aisle. Just take your measurements with you and cut them there, maybe you can find some nice young man to cut them for you.

Here you can see I have my board painted and cut to the length I need. Next I place my first square in the corner and attach it to the mirror with Velcro. IF you are wondering how well this sticks in a room full of steam, don't worry, I framed my mirror in the master bath several years ago and it is still attached.

This mirror is 4'x 3' and I used 5 feet of Velcro. They sell it at Home Depot and I think it was around $5 or $6 dollars. Make sure you buy the Velcro that has the sticky back.

Here's a tip, attach the two sides of Velcro together and stick to your trim. Then peel off the sticky paper and press your trim to the mirror.

Then just work your way around the mirror and when all the sides are done, you end up with this.

And there you have it. Now go out and buy some trim!
