One of the problems I see facing Black America is this notion that to be a good Christian, you must be a Republican. I don't see Jesus being a Christian Conservative. First of all, he was an illegal immigrant in Nazareth. Second, he was a carpenter, so he was probably in the union. Jesus believed in health care 'cause he healed the sick for free. He fed the hungry and hung out with the poor. He didn't favor the wealthy 'cause he turned over the merchant tables at the temple and he told the rich man to give away all his stuff if he wanted to follow him. And he believed in the government taxing 'cause he told a disciple to "give unto Caesar what is Caesar's" He was wrongly convicted and given a death penalty. And last, he hung out around 12 men. Odds are one of them disciples was gay!

Happy Mother's Day to ALL Mothers

Yesterday was "Birthmother's Day"- a day created to honor those whose children are being raised by someone else. I chose not talk about birthmother's day yesterday with my kids, choosing instead to share today- a day for ALL moms- with their first mothers as well.

Our First Season of Gymnastics...

Has ended and she loves it more than ever.

For her final meet:

Floor 8.1 (the judge was brutal)

Bar 8.3

Beam 8.3

Vault 9.1 (her first 9 ever!!!!)

4th place in her age bracket in the all around competition. (she missed 3rd by 0.1 points)

This is her beam routine

Of course, gymnastics doesn't actually end- she will be moving up a level and increasing her time in the gym by another hour.
