Make a Special Card for Women’s Day 🌸 Watercolour Butterflies Tutorial

Happy Women's Day!

In today’s video I’m sharing a special handmade card for Women’s Day (8th March) created as part of a lovely craft collaboration celebrating the amazing women in our lives 💐

For this project I used the Chloe’s Craft Magazine Box Kit and created a delicate design with stamped butterflies and flowers coloured with watercolour paints. The soft colours and elegant details make this card perfect for celebrating a mother, sister, friend, colleague or any special woman in your life.

5000 subscribers card for PaperMona / Creative Stamping 118

Today, I have a very special personalised card. A friend of mine PaperMona recently reached 5000 subscribers on her YouTube channel and I made a card to celebrate this achievement. I used a free gift from Creative Stamping magazine issue 118 'Wings & Things'. It is a stunning stamp set collection, perfect to immerse yourself into the world of colouring. The floral butterfly is just perfect and I had to use it for the focal element on my card.

Joy fold card - #FFCchallenge2023

Today, I have something super exciting for you. A friend of mine (PaperMona) started a new challenge this year and every month will be dedicated to a different card style, for January 2023 we have a joy card. There are four amazing crafters taking part in it, every month we will post a video with a different card style, February will be easel card. This challenge is just for fun, if you want to take part in it, just create a joy fold card until the end of January 2023 and post it on your social media with #FFCchallenge2023.

For my project, I used a butterfly stamp from Pink Fresh Studio that is a free gift with Simply Cards & Papercraft issue 239.

Blue and purple whimsical birds

Today, I have a third whimsical painting in my new collection.

This mixed media painting was a lot of fun to create and I absolutely enjoyed playing with the watercolours. I painted the canvas black and used gold acrylic paint to create the frame, I used watercolour paint for the birds, butterflies and flowers, I fussy cut them and used liquid glue to adhere them on the canvas.

Whimsical purple butterflies

Today I have my second mixed media painting of 2021.

I used a stencil and texture paste in the corners of the canvass, then painted the background using metallic acrylic paint. All the butterflies and flowers were painted using watercolour paint, fussy cut and adhered on the canvas, I also added some light green thread :)

Butterfly spinner card

I hope you have a great day :)

Today I have a special nameday card with a spinning butterfly.

I heat embossed the swirls and used ink blending technique to add the green and yellow colours to the background. I die cut all the letters using Tonic Studios 'Cirrous' Simple types from gold mirror card. The butterfly stamp comes from Card Making Magic stamp set. I used black embossing powder and coloured the butterfly with ZIG markers. I just had to add these tiny gold gems around the butterfly and on the side of the card.

Torn edge rectange frames

Today, I decided to make some birthday and nameday cards for my family.

I used 2 embossing folders: Brocade and 3D Seamless Wave by Crafter's Companion. I created the flowers using an ombre paper pad that I received from an amazing cardmaker Paperfect Dublin, here is a link to her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Paperfect-Dublin-361592854713185/ and Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paperfectdublin/, she is a very talented cardmaker and I am so happy to see her beautiful creations.

I also used Distress Oxides to add colour to the background and I created the frame using 'Torn Edge Rectangle' nesting dies by Crafter's Companion.

I could not decide on the colour scheme so I made three cards :D

Spring butterfly in soft pastel

Happy Friday!

I hope you have a fantastic day.

The weather is so beautiful at the moment and staying at home makes me try new techniques. I used soft pastels to create this drawing and I love this technique. Using Rembrandt pastels made it easy to blend the colours together and actually it was much quicker than expected.

I really recommend trying something new.

White butterfly - pointillism

I have been working on pointillism recently and I have to admit that I really like this technique.

Here is 'White Butterfly' painting which is A4 size, it took me over 15 hours but I'm really pleased with the result. As you know I absolutely love butterflies so it had to be a butterfly :)
