These are a few process involve.
** base on my knowledge**
Polish ( Johore/ Sarawak)
-the raw media is just a normal aluminum/glass disk, too rough to do anything much
.
.
.
Plating( Johore/ Sarawak)
- plate it lah, I think it is nickel plating
.
.
.
Texture (Penang)
- er, this department is more like a cleaning the disk, make sure it is practicle, bacteria free
.
.
.
Sputter
- the part where the magnetic layer-the part where data is stored is"SPRAY ON TO IT"
thickness of each layer is about few nanometers thick
.
.
.
Lube
- coat a protective layer over the magnetic layer
.
.
.
Test
- test the media. It's like they will write data in, then try to read it again
.
.
.
Bagging
.
.
.
Shipping
.
.
.
Installation of HArd disk ( PJ and Thailand)

WHY CAN'T WE TOUCH THE MEDIA?
The write n read head of the hard disk is actually not touching the media, the distance between them is about 5 nanometer, whereas our fingerprint is about 10 nanometer. Hence if there is a fingerprint, the head will crash while the media is rotating.... that's why
