i love browsing other blogs and finding out about artists that are new to me. while on bloesem the other day, i came across
kate neckel. this is my favorite illustration from her blog.

i really like things with black birds. i dont know why but i always find myself gravitating to them. so when i saw the blog oneblackbird i had to check it out. diana fayt has a great new etsy shop and i wish her great success!

when i saw this on loraine's blog grijs, i immediately thought of my latest bag. both the colors and the shapes remind me of this:

i took a trip to this amazing place a while ago. the entire garden is the work of niki de saint phalle. she was a sculptress and fascinating woman! if you are in rome or sienna it is worth the short side trip to visit! she also has an exhibit in garfield park conservatory, in chicago until october which is worth seeing.

here are some of my favorites from my friend amanda sears. she's an artist, actress, and fashion stylist currently residing in chicago.
her work consists of acrylic paint, various pumices, and industrial polymer.

"i am inspired by the collision of industry and nature; glamour and simplicity; a bold burning sunrise meeting rust and decay on the underbelly of forgotten train tracks."

my friend sue just finished this mural of saint sebastian in her bedroom.
it's taking the place of a typical headboard for her bed. i think this is a great idea.

. . . i am managing some computer time while i'm away -- in between beer tastings.

i know women love shoes but i LOVE shoes. i go crazy for their elegance, their ability to change an entire outfit, an entire attitude. isnt it fantastic the way amazing shoes can make you walk with a little more confidence, and make your body look better than ever before...shoes can literally change who we are for a day, we walk around feeling slim and sexy in amazing heels and so confident in the right pair of heeled boots.
so of course when i saw these shoes, by artist marina dempster, i went crazy thinking of how amazing it would be to wear these, even if only for an hour. i would wear them to some amazing party, with incredibly creative people and all night long i would walk through the people looking at my shoes and feeling like a woman who could change the world. thank you marina dempster, these are fantastic! if you have a minute check out her paintings,sculptures, and toys.
