Race for the Cure
Today I ran in the Race for the Cure. It was a lot of fun and the perfect day to race. I finished in 34min but I think that time is a bit off because with so many folks running it was hard to get going so I ended up walking for about the first 1/2 mile but then the crowed thinned out. Anyhow, for not really training I feel I finished pretty well.

Catch phrase
On the news the other day they did a segment on new words being used by teenagers. I realized I am no longer among this group when I didn't know a single word on their list. However, here are some of my favorites that I plan to weave into my current vocabulary.
1. Agnorant - being both ignorant and arrogant at the same time (this is my personal favorite)
2. Multislacking - slacking at multiple tasks at the same time (for instance I'm blogging when I should be typing up my notes, working on my law review tech check, sending out resumes, or taking a shower)
3. Bluetool - people who have a bluetooth ear piece and feel compelled to always keep it on their ear even when they're not talking on it

Tagged
So I got tagged. It's kind of weird if you ask me. It's like when you'd send out those emails to all your friends asking a zillion irrelevant questions in an effort to get to know them better. Anyhow, here's the question:
What were you doing 10, 20, and 30 years ago?
For someone who isn't 30 yet I think this is kind of funny. Furthermore, exactly when do they mean during those time frames? Do they mean Oct. 15, 1997, 1987, and 1977? Or are they looking for a run down of the whole year? Heaven knows I have no idea. Some days I have a hard time remembering what I had for breakfast. Furthermore, what do they mean by "what were you doing"? Do they mean for a job or where you were living or something else? Ok, so maybe I'm being too literal.
Oct. 15, 1997 - I am a senior in High School looking forward to graduation.
Oct. 15, 1987 - I am 7 years old... I don't even know what grade I would be in.
Oct. 15, 1977 - God is planning me!

Bedding
Clay and I have decided to join the wonderful world of the king size bed. We've been married for 3 years and decided it's time to make the major commitment to the BIG bed. You would think this would be a relatively simple task, but in the world of memory foam v. latex, traditional mattress v. sleep number bed, it's been a bit crazy. We finally figured out what we wanted and decided to look for bedding. This is where it REALLY got complicated.
Clay and I are simple folk. We don't like big flashy patterns we both want something simple that goes with our current decor in our room because heaven knows I don't have time to repaint right now. Luckily I painted in a pretty neutral color scheme so off we went to go shopping. What a nightmare.
We started our shopping online (like a good American) and only found a couple of things we liked but we were more surprised by the price tags. Who knew that a single duvet cover would cost $300. (It's two pieces of fabric sewn together for crying out loud!) Let alone 2 pillow shams for $100 and a bed skirt for $150. And these were NOT made of gold.
So we decided to be traditional and actually go shopping. Unfortunately we didn't want our bedroom covered in paisley or flowers. It seemed everything we found was just to foo foo for us.
Next we decided we would go to places off the beaten track. Clay found a couple of bedding specialty stores for us to try out. We knew we were in the wrong place when the duvet cover alone cost $1800. (No that does not include the bed or even a pillow sham.) At this point we were ready to give up.
However, we re-discovered JC Penny on our way home and found a set we both really liked. Now the new bed is ordered and we've got bedding. Hopefully by next week we'll be sleeping peacefully on our new bed. Who knew that shopping for bedding was such an ordeal.
