Clay and I have decided to join the wonderful world of the king size bed. We've been married for 3 years and decided it's time to make the major commitment to the BIG bed. You would think this would be a relatively simple task, but in the world of memory foam v. latex, traditional mattress v. sleep number bed, it's been a bit crazy. We finally figured out what we wanted and decided to look for bedding. This is where it REALLY got complicated.
Clay and I are simple folk. We don't like big flashy patterns we both want something simple that goes with our current decor in our room because heaven knows I don't have time to repaint right now. Luckily I painted in a pretty neutral color scheme so off we went to go shopping. What a nightmare.
We started our shopping online (like a good American) and only found a couple of things we liked but we were more surprised by the price tags. Who knew that a single duvet cover would cost $300. (It's two pieces of fabric sewn together for crying out loud!) Let alone 2 pillow shams for $100 and a bed skirt for $150. And these were NOT made of gold.
So we decided to be traditional and actually go shopping. Unfortunately we didn't want our bedroom covered in paisley or flowers. It seemed everything we found was just to foo foo for us.
Next we decided we would go to places off the beaten track. Clay found a couple of bedding specialty stores for us to try out. We knew we were in the wrong place when the duvet cover alone cost $1800. (No that does not include the bed or even a pillow sham.) At this point we were ready to give up.
However, we re-discovered JC Penny on our way home and found a set we both really liked. Now the new bed is ordered and we've got bedding. Hopefully by next week we'll be sleeping peacefully on our new bed. Who knew that shopping for bedding was such an ordeal.

King sized bedding is terribly expensive. The sheets are horrendously priced...I couldn't believe it! :) Glad you finally found something that suits the two of you. You should send pics! :)
This is why our bedding is years old. ;)
I'm glad that you found something that you like. JCPenney has come through on more than one occasion for me. They are the only department store in our area that carries maternity clothes! I hope you sleep comfortable in your "big" bed.
