First Snow of the Season~

Something to say about this winter around here is that there has been NO SNOW!!  My kids are dying.  They really love playing in the snow and building our big snow hill.  The second there was even a hint of snow my kids were all dressed up and ready to play.

Well, at least two of them were.  They were so happy to just play outside in snow finally!
Ethan was very patient with Ezra helping him build his very own snowman.

Ezra is just a little bit crazy!  He mostly loved throwing snow and eating snow.  He really loved his snowman even though it didn't last very long.

They played until it was melted.  What a fun almost wintery day.

Mason Skiing

There is an amazing program at one of the ski resorts that offers adaptive skiing for children like Mason.  He loves it.  This time was especially fun because we all came to ski/snowboard with him.  Unfortunately for me, Ethan forgot his snowpants and coat so he had to wear mine which meant I got to watch.  It was OK for me though.  I loved watching my 3 boys ski.

The lift they took wasn't really long.  I actually walked up the mountain to the top so I could see them get off  the lift.

Ethan was SOO excited to ski with Mason.  The best ski day ever!

Mason's 'buddy' was nice.  Mason needs someone who is loud and exuberant, but he still had a great time.

At the top of the lift, ready to go!

The group... Spen, Mason's buddy - Ryan, Ethan, and Mason.  Ready to go!

It's actually really cool to watch how they do this.  Spencer really wants to work as an instructor next year.

My little skier!  He's had so much fun.  I think he really loved having Ethan and Spencer ski around him.

Video of Mason skiing!

So, I finally edited our video Spencer took of Mason's skiing adventure.
It's not too long, but for optimal viewing I suggest pausing our music at the bottom of the blog!
Let me know what you think!!

Mason's first time skiing!!

So there is this really cool program at Snowbird called Wasatch Adaptive Sports. They do all sorts of things for children with disabilities and adapt activities for these kinds of kids to participate in something that you would never think they could do! Last week between Dr. appointments and tests we signed Mason up to participate in the skiing program they have at Snowbird!

His friend/therapist's name was Alison and Spencer said she was fabulous! Mason had such a great time.

They only go up a small lift from what I understand, but Mason went at least 15 times!

I was nervous that he would scream and get scared and cry from something so new and fast and different. I was completely wrong I guess! He had such a great time! We signed him up to go a few more times this season. I'm so excited to be able to go with him to see him ski! I never thought I'd see Mason ski! Isn't that fantastic!!

Ethan Skiing

This year Spencer and Ethan got season passes to Sundance. They have already used them enough to make it worth it! They love going together. Spen is trying to capture some video and pictures of Ethan, but he's just too fast!!!

Mase joins the sledding fun!

With all of this snow Kilimanjaro reached an all time record! It was over 9 feet high this week! We have all had so much fun sledding. (All but Ez. Ethan can't understand why I won't just try to take him down at least once!~)

Ethan and I spend hours sledding together. Today I felt a bit sad that Mase was just inside playing with his doors. Ez thankfully slept through it all, but Ethan and I decided to 'snow suit up' Mase into a 'snowman' to come out sledding with us. He only went down about 10 times wit me, then I was just too tired! He's a heavy kid!

Thankfully Spen came home and gave Mase a few rides. He just laughed and laughed. He laughs so hard that it's no longer audible! I love it. He loved being pulled around on his back on the sled too!

Ethan is becoming a real daredevil! I'm so happy that we have enough snow to make the platform at the top safe! He's really good at keeping the rule that he can only sled with supervision from a grown up though!

We have spent hours and hours in our front yard sledding! It's so great for me, I don't have the guilt that I physically just can't take everyone sledding myself - we just play in the yard!

Kilimanjaro Last night!

I know, I know... All I have blogged about is our sledding hill! It's so much fun though.

We Spent a while shoveling out of last night's storm and afterwards we got to enjoy some fun sledding!

Surprisingly, Ethan is the one who got the cold the fastest. Now I just have to go take more pictures after shoveling today's storm away!

Vesuvius update for Huge Snow today!

After a HUGE snow day today we spent a lot of time building up our sledding hill!!

Ethan and I spent all morning sledding and shoveling, now that Spen is home he is taking over for me!! Ethan is in heaven with his hill!

Ethan is good enough to mind our rule of no sledding without a grown up there to help and watch.

We finally got it packed enough that we can sled down 'doubles'. Ethan even talked our neighbor into sledding down with him. :)

Perfect for the Christmas break!

Vesuvius 2008

If you saw our blog last year, you know that we built our own sledding hill in our front yard for Ethan. Yesterday and today we finally got enough snow to start construction on the new and improved Vesuvius!

I have to say, we are all pretty excited about it. Mason only tried last year's hill a few times, but I think this year he'll be more excited about it. Ez will have to wait!

Ethan is fearless I'm afraid... He's going to have to start wearing his ski helmet when he is playing with just his friends and not his dad! When it gets too dark he brings his sled in to do some "stair sledding." I don't think I'll elaborate!
