#2-The Note

So here is the last birthday letter that Shawn ever wrote me. A few things you need to know before reading. 1. He always called me his Angel 2. His career was hard and we never knew what was going to happen next or where we would be moving to, 3. After watching Titanic about 20 times and me crying during every time we always said "You jump, I jump" to each other, we said it and also wrote it in every letter that we each wrote. 4. Last year he got me the Journey Diamond necklace. 5. Shawn's nickname was Hoss, 6. At the time of this letter we had been trying for a baby for about 5 months. Here it goes, I've never shared any of Shawn's letters with anyone ever before.

Angel,
I know this hasn't been easy in any way shape or form. However, despite all the bullshit we go thru on a daily, weekly, monthly, and seems now yearly bullshit, I can't imagine anybody else I would want to go thru this with. That being said while the journey has been less than desirable, we are just getting started. I can't imagine anybody else I would have rather gone thru the journey with. I hope this will celebrate our past journey and we can realize that our journey together will only get better, and the best part of OUR and OUR FAMILIES JOURNEY has yet to begin.

I love you Angel more than you will ever know or I can convey to you!

Love Hoss,
P.S.
You jump, I jump
P.S.S.
I can't wait to start our family together with you...
Our journey has yet to begin...

There it is my last birthday note from Shawn. I hope by my sharing this letter shows you all how great of a husband he was to me. He loved me so much and I know he still does. So far my birthday hasn't been as bad as I thought it was going to me. It still SUCKS, but not as bad as I was thinking it was going to be. I think Bo is keeping me occupied! My family and I went out for lunch and it has been a pretty low key day, just how I wanted it. Several friends have also called and told me happy birthday today as well. The "Coach" also called me bright and early first thing this morning to tell me too.

Well that is my post for today. Again, I hope you can see by the note how special Shawn was to me. Maybe in the future I will share some more of our notes.

Thank you ALL as well for the birthday wishes!!! You have been great!!!

Happy B-day Jenny! I know this cant be an easy day for you but I hope you are enjoying your day as much as possible. Your dog is the cutest! I wanted to tell you too that you and my dog Ellie (the little one) share the same b-day! I had to sing her happy b-day this morning. Ah.. the things we do for our pets! I'm glad you have lots of notes from Shawn. I'm sure they are very comforting to read. (((HUGS)))

Happy Birthday!! I'm glad that your day is being celebrated the way you had hoped it would. It sounds like Bo is great company and keeping you busy. Young puppies are a lot of work, I learned that when we got our little one. I really don't have any suggestions. It's going to be rough at first, but Bo will get used to things and be able to sleep better. Before you know it he'll be waking you up a only a couple times a night. Oh, and thanks for posting the letter from Shawn. I look forward to reading more letters you post, as you see fit.

Wishing you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY, despite the circumstances.

Just remember, after today ... you've climbed another hurdle.

Hugs,
Emily

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I've been following your blog for a while, but I don't think I've left you a comment yet. I was hesitant to read your post today because I was worried that I'd cry like a baby reading your note. It was quite the opposite, though. My heart smiled. I am so thankful that you have such wonderful memories of your husband. Even though he isn't on Earth with you, he will always be with you and in your heart. Thank you for sharing something so personal to you.

Hug that precious, little Bo and let him give you lots of licks. We adopted our youngest dog at 4.5 weeks, and I know a tiny puppy is so difficult. You'll look back to this time and smile - even with everything you're having to face each day - that puppy will bring you joy.

Jen, his letter is beautiful and the overall message that your blog sends just hit me like a ton of bricks. My hubbie and I have been ignoring each other because of a stupid fight over something so trivial since yesterday morning, I need to phone him NOW to make amends.
Thanks for sharing!
xx

I hope you found a way to have a good day even though I know it was very difficult.

Puppies are worse than babies in that they pee all over the floor, at least babies do it in diapers!

I would look into crate training Bo. And sometimes you have to just let him cry. If you pick him up every time he whimpers he'll never stop....

Happy belated birthday! I've been reading your blog and praying for you since you left your meessage Oct. 15 at Bring the Rain. You're an amazing lady, Jenny. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and reminding all of us not to take our "normal" for granted. Obviously, Shawn loved you very much and was a lucky man to have found the love of his life. Enjoy the new love you have found in Bo and know that you are in the hearts of many. Love and hugs! An Illinois friend

Jenny-
I am (again) amazed at how many things the two of us appear to have in common. My husband's nickname for me is Angel, too. He is a note writer as well, and I cherish all the letters I have from him much more today, thanks to you.
Happy low-key birthday. That's how I like them best. Quiet and in the company of a pup. I am thrilled that you have Bo.
