Double Digits for Our Eldest

My Amanda turned 10.   {pause for dramatic effect}  I know, I am kinda freaked out that my first BABY is 10!  I mean HOW exactly did that happen so FAST!?! ;)  Amanda is possibly the sweetest and most helpful girl on the planet!  She decided that this year she would rather have just a few friends come over for a sleepover than have a normal Birthday Party, and probably since we haven't had a sleepover at our house yet...in a bout of insanity I agreed! ;D LOL

Amanda's first Bday gift, from my BFF Kristine
and her girls Emma and Gracie!
One of our fave books Pride and Prejudice,
and a $10 Wizard 101 gift card...

THIS is how she felt when she found out that
this $10 gift card gives her 6000 credits on Wizard 101!! LOL

When the girls started arriving they all played in the backyard, since it WAS July in the desert luckily it was overcast! Sam got out the hose...and all of a sudden it became a water party! Unfortunately noone had swimsuits! They didn't care, and we had plenty of summer dresses to share for the evening!

Elizabeth did NOT appreciate being sprayed
full blast in the face by Sam...imagine THAT!?! ;)

They were soaked to the skin, and loving every minute of it!

OK, so Amanda wanted a sea blue/green cake that looked like the ocean, with ocean creature candies on it...all I could find were swedish fish. The 10 candles actually do make the #10...not too impressive, but I tried- as a matter of fact Josh thought the idea of a green cake was disgusting! LOL, but Amanda said "It's PERFECT!!!" so I guess the Birthday girl knows what she wants!

Thanks to my handy dandy kitchen shears
these swedish fish looked like they were
jumping in and out of the 'water'...well...sortof! ;)

Amanda even wanted the inside of the cake
to be sea colored...um, yeah, I just kept changing
the coloring until she said it was the perfect color!
{gulp}
blech!

Amanda chose Costco Pizza for dinner, I love that girl!

Singin' Happy Birthday to Amanda
(Izzy was FREAKING out,
she hates that song for some reason!
She starts yelling and crying every time we sing it! LOL)

Luckily there is no inherited-asthma for this kid,
the candles were out before I knew what was going on!

Amanda was AMAZED at the sparkly,
glue covered pinecone that Emily made for her! :)

Our Gyrlles. I love it when they get along! :)

Emily's friend Julianna scored with a new book and book light for Amanda! :)

*MUUUUUWAH!*

Tali gave Amanda some GREAT girly froo froo!
She LOVES it! :) (Thanks Brit!)

Amanda can't wait to spend her Bday money from sweet Becca!

Watching the new iCarly while we painted our
fingernails and toenails! QUITE the girly shin-dig.

In keeping with our 'Ocean' theme we watched "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightening Thief" chowed down popcorn and candy they 'bought' with the shells from the 'find the shells game! ;)

Sam being a good sport and getting buried by some crazy girls!

Amanda was HAPPY that she got the requested
french toast and bacon for her Bday breakfast.
I aim to please.

Veeeeeery excited she is finally opening the gifts from the family,
after most of the party guests went home.

Emily made Amanda yet another card,
she is quite a crafty creature! :)

Here is my now 10-year old girl. Wow, how time flies!
She asked for books and BOY oh boy did she get them,
and obviously she could NOT be happier!
A girl after my own ♥ :) 7/31/10

Stolen Shoes

My highest high-heeled shoes...
worn by my 2yr old.
Nice!

It isn't soo weird that she could get her feet into them,
but that she could STAND up after she got her
chubby little tootsies in them!
Like wearing high-heeled snow-shoes.

She tried for a good long while to
buckle the strap, but since they are
only about twice as big as her whole
foot...she eventually gave up on that.

I love this girl. You know it is funny but I think
she may walk in these shoes better than I DO! LOL ;)

She was all ready to go outside for a walk,
impressive huh? ;)
Although the BEST part is that she was
JUMPING in them, and they stayed on!
How does she do that?
I don't think that I could!
She is a girl of many talents.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that
I will have to safeguard my shoes the SECOND
that my girls feet are big enough to wear them,
they ALL steal my flip flops already,
and so it begins...

Izzy vs. The Watermelon

I walked into the kitchen and saw this:
Yep, Izzy was rolling the watermelon out of the pantry.

She really wanted to pick it up, and gave it a good try...
almost actually picked up the durn thing a few times.
Amazing.
(er...um, pay no attention to the little boy
in his Thomas the Train underwear
standing in the pantry)

When you can't pick it up you roll it across the kitchen floor.
She thought it was great fun.

She, however, was NOT happy that I
told her she couldn't roll it into the front room.
Big mean Mommy!

Even with the dirty face,
WHAT a beautiful,
crazy,
silly,
insane,
watermelon-rolling,
super-funny girl!!! :D

4th of July = Sparklers

I just couldn't bring myself to go out
and fight the crowds to see fireworks,
so we just did some sparklers this year
(although now that I think of it...
we actually waited a few to do even them,
MAN I am SO not on the ball lately!)
Anyhoo...
Please forgive the fuzziness:
(someday I want to get a DSLR camera,
unfortunately that requires $$$
and knowledge of how to USE one! ;)
Josh was in charge of lighting these beasties.
I was in charge of making sure that Sam
didn't damage anyone with his.

The girls love to write in the air,

nice swirly that Amanda made here!

Sam has advanced to double-sparklers...
and noone got hurt!
AMAZING!

Izzy didn't want ANYTHING to do with holding one,
which is probably a good thing,
she is dangerous enough without fireworks!
She did like watching them though!

The itsy...NOT-so-bitsy spider!

We hates them my precious.
Yesssss we hates them.

Yep, that is most certainly a Black Widow.
I vanquished it with 1/2 a can of spider spray.
(yes, I could have used  far less...
but can you SEE the nastiness of this thing???)

Just for size reference, those are MY fingers.
And the ONLY way I got ANYWHERE near
that nasty beastie is that this was the NEXT day
when she was most seriously and 100% dead.
//shudder//
Oh, how I hate them.
