Camping with the Whites

We just returned from a weekend of camping in Valley Center at the Woods Valley Kampground. Yes, they spell it with a K! We always enjoy camping and love any opportunity to go. This campground was located about 1/2 mile away from Bates Nut Farm, which happened to be hosting a craft fair & car show that weekend, which was fun too!

Although we've taken Samuel camping 3 times before, I'd say this time was the most fun for him so far... particularly because this was his first time camping since he learned to walk. That certainly made it a lot easier on us! He had fun exploring the campsites and playing with his cousins. Our two sites were surrounded by huge oak trees and situated next to a small running creek. Around camp we played boccee ball, took the kids to the playground, went bike riding, ate "camping food" and relaxed!

Going for a bike ride... (Sammy loved riding behind his Grandad (aka Gaga) & next to Leia in this bike-cart-type thing.)
A friendly game of tetherball?!
This is our sweet niece Laylie, trying to see how far her socks stretch!
They have a lot of animals at Bates... everything from goats, donkeys, & pigs, to peacocks & turkeys! These two were both showing off for the audience.
Sammy climing up the fence to get a better view of all the animals (with a little help from Andrew, of course).

And this is a cute shot of the two of them mowing the lawn Sunday afternoon after we got home.

Strawberry Picking

Last week we went strawberry picking with the MOPS group from our church. It was a beautiful, warm day, perfect for this outing! Sam loved holding his own bucket and picking the strawberries off the plants... afterwards, when looking in the bucket it was easy to tell which berries he had picked because they were either too white, or they had holes indented in them from his little fingers squeezing too hard! :) It was funny listening to all the other moms reminding their kids to "only pick the red ones!!!"

Now its just too bad Sammy doesn't like to eat strawberries! He doesn't like the taste, I guess... hopefully one day that will change, we'll see!

Happy Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter celebration this weekend with family & friends.

Samuel had fun on Saturday morning with Mamoe, Grandad & Auntie Jillian & his cousins at the Encinitas Easter Egg hunt... we practiced picking up eggs and putting them in his Easter basket at home beforehand, just so he could get the concept down. Sure enough he picked them all up, but then proceeded to empty his basket throwing all his eggs back on the floor (he thinks they are balls), so I was hoping he wouldn't do that at the real hunt! Here's some photos of the egg hunt on Saturday morning... he ended up with 5 eggs! :)

Here is Leia & Samuel giving hugs before the Easter egg hunt!

The cousins with their Easter baskets... Sammy wasn't too thrilled about posing for a picture.

Then we hit the road and drove up to visit our friends Adam & Ali, and their sweet kids Noelle & newborn Elias. Elias is such a sweet baby boy! Noelle & Sammy had a Easter egg hunt in the yard and once Sam figured out there were M&M's inside, he was all about finding more eggs! Unfortunately I left the camera in the car, so no pictures to post, but we had a great time visiting with our friends! We spent the rest of the weekend with the Davidsons, and had a great time at church on Sunday, then with the whole family that afternoon.

Samuel on Easter morning with his basket. He must've been so excited about it being Easter morning because he woke us up so EARLY that day!!! You can tell he still has his "morning face" in this photo... hehe!

Samuel got to try out a trampoline for the first time and he LOVED it!

And the weekend wouldn't be complete without one last egg hunt. Sam was a pro at finding eggs by now! What a joyous holiday! We loved rejoicing with all of our family & friends that Christ is risen!
