Happy Birthday Samuel!

Hard to believe that our little Samuel turned TWO on Thursday, August 19th! Both his birthday day and his birthday party (on Saturday) was lots of fun! We love Samuel and are so proud of the sweet, fun & special boy he is! Sammy is our little treasure from heaven.
On Sammy's birthday, Andrew met us for a picnic lunch & some playtime at a park. Mamoe, Aunty Jill & Sammy's cousins met us there too. Below is Sammy's first birthday present from his Mamoe & Grandad - a Geo Trax train set! Sammy loves trains and was so excited to play with this, he forgot all about the playground. :)
That afternoon we took Samuel to Toys R Us to pick out his birthday presents from us. He loved running all throughout the store looking at all the toys. And what did he pick out? More trains of course! (We got him a couple expansions for his new Geo Trax set, and a big remote control thomas the train!)
We decided against the Barbie Convertible... but he sure did love sitting in it!
Then we took Sammy out for a birthday dinner. Here he is with his birthday dessert!
On Saturday we had all of the family over for a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party!
The kids had fun designing their own t-shirts with puffy paint
And everyone decorated their own Mickey Mouse sugar cookies
Jillian made the most delicious cupcakes and individual Mickey Mouse birthday cake for Samuel! She is so talented!
Here's Sammy trying to blow out the candle on his cake. It took him a lot of tries, but he finally succeeded! Unlike his 1st birthday where he barely touched the cake at all, this time Sammy devoured his little cake, starting with Mickey's chocolate ears!
Sammy got lots of fun presents. He wanted to stop to play with each one before opening the next! Here he is with his new toy vaccuum. He LOVES this new toy! (I love it too; I hope it will make vaccuuming for me easier now, as he always insists on having a turn every time I try to vaccuum. Now he has his OWN vaccuum! We'll see how it goes?)
And Sammy also loves his new Cars tricycle - with pedals! (He can't quite reach them yet, but that doesn't stop him from riding it all throughout the house & the back yard!)
Last, but not least, here's the whole birthday party gang, with their Mickey ears on! Samuel is sooooo loved his all his family!

WOFOFF '10

Hi everyone!

Its been a while and we've been keeping busy with lots of fun summer things. We just returned from our annual weekend of full-on fun & fellowship with some of our dear college friends. This year 9 adults and 5 kids gathered up in Sacramento and we stayed at one of our friends' parents' house. We decided to book flights on southwest.com rather than make the 8+ hour drive, and thanfkully we were able to take advantage of one last flight with Samuel flying free as a lap child before he turned 2 (with just a few days to spare!). The way up the flight was pretty empty, so Sam was able to sit in his own window seat (buckled into his car seat) and happily watched the movie 'Cars' on the way up. The flight back was more full, so he sat on our laps. Although he was an angel both ways, I'm still thankful the flight was so short!

Anyways we had a wonderful weekend with our friends and wanted to share some photo highlights of the trip!

Each day we played & cooled down in the pool... Sammy had fun trying to swim between his Mommy & Daddy... and all the guys had fun doing tricks off the diving board. :)

It seems that at this age the boys really enjoyed copying each other with whatever they were doing. Here are Evan & Samuel rolling around on the grass. ;)

And here is a nice shot of the three little guys - Samuel, Evan & Tyler. They really had fun playing together all weekend!

The two sweet girls, Lena & Evie, enjoyed playing together too! We're looking forward to meeting baby girl Wisner so she can even the numbers out for next year!

And each night after the kids had gone to bed, we danced it up with the Wii game "Just Dance." Hmmm... I wonder why Andrew didn't win this round? Unless the rest of us are just really behind?

On Saturday we checked out the Railroad Museum in Old Town Sacramento. We had a great time seeing all the old steam engines. The kids loved climbing into the cars and seeing all the trains.
Then we had a picnic lunch outside amongst the Women's Suffrage picketers.
We also were treated to a fabulous dinner by our friend Ben's parents! After dinner we took a walk in their neighborhood and saw some race horses. Here are the three boys together looking at the horsies.

We wish we could have stayed up there a few more days, but weekends just go by so quickly. We love all our friends so much and we're already looking forward to next year's trip, wherever that may be! :)
