Birds & Fish

Yesterday we had a fun mommy & son outing and visited a little bird sanctuary in Del Mar.  Samuel had a really fun time looking at all the colorful exotic birds & feeding them.  They also had a little koi pond with tons of huge fish which Sammy had fun feeding as well.  His favorite fish was the big yellow one.  Sam brought his own little wallet, filled with quarters, and used his quarters to buy the bird & fish food.  :)

He seemed a little nervous at first, but when he saw that they were nice birdies, he really enjoyed himself.  His favorite bird was "Bella" the white bird, who was really gentle and let us hold her, pet her, and ate sunflower seeds right out of our hand!

We followed this by a little visit to Fletcher Cove playground & beach for a picnic lunch, then swung by Daddy's office on the way home to say "Hi" & tell him all about it.  It was a beautiful day and we loved every moment of it.

Truck Painting, Car Rides & Tea

Yesterday morning was a little too wet to go out and play, so we had some fun doing a little all-boy art project with 2 main ingredients: trucks + paint.  :)
Sam loved "brumming" his cars & trucks in the paint, then across the paper
So fun!  His artwork is now proudly displayed in his room.  :)
Micah enjoyed his first ride in the little tikes car today.  Sammy did a good job pushing him around the backyard.
Our little driver!
Today was a beautiful day to enjoy tea at the Pannikin with my mom, sister & niece.  I've been wanting to do this for such a long time!  I am so thankful that I get to live so near to them.  I'm also thankful for the little bits of time during the week when my first little angel is at preschool, and I have just the second angel in tow.   Here is my little cherub relaxin' with his cousin.  I love these precious moments.  So sweet!

Look out world, here comes Micah!

Happy 9 months little Micah Caedmon!
Micah turned 9 months old on Sunday, the 18th.  This morning we had his 9 month well-check at his pediatrician's office.  Everyone at the office thought he was just so adorable and healthy, and the nurse who called us back said she was hoping that he was the "Micah" she was calling for, because he was such a cutey!  :)  The nurse was guessing he'd break the 20 pound mark on the scale... (little did she know that's what he weighed at 6 months old!)  When in fact, our little tank weighed in at 23 pounds, 13 ounces.  Micah is measuring 30 1/2 inches tall, and his head measures 48 cm.  That's 96%, 99%, and 97% respectively - - he earned straight A's!  Way to go little buddy!  Micah got 1 shot, and 1 toe prick, and also took a vision test, which he passed.

As far as milestones, our little guy is definitely on the move now!  Look out world!  Our last post of Micah crawling showed him taking just two or three "crawls" before falling down.  Well, last Thursday, on March 15th, he really started getting around on all 4's.  Now he's an crawling pro, exploring the house, and following his Mommy, Daddy & big bro all around.  Here's a little video for proof (not the most crawling distance, but you can get the idea).  :)
Micah has three teeth... the two on the bottom, and his third tooth, surprisingly, is the one just to the left of the top center two teeth.  :)  Kindy funny that it came in that order!

So far Micah loves to eat baby food, puffs, freeze dried yogurt bits, cheerios, small bits of banana, and yogurt.  We're planning to experiment with more table foods soon, so we'll keep you posted on that.  Here he is eating from a snack trap for the first time.  :)
Lastly, Micah has said his FIRST WORD!  It happened while he was sitting in the highchair during dinnertime on March 16.  Anyone want to take a guess?  Okay... if you ask me, his first word was "dada."  But, if you ask his Daddy, it was "ta-ta."  :)  Either way, its so cute to hear his soft, sweet baby voice talking!
Happy 9 months sweet boy!  We love you so much!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This year was a fun St. Patrick's Day for all of us.  That morning Samuel woke me up telling me all about what the leprechauns did around the house and to his bedroom!  In case you didn't know, leprechauns are mischevious, messy, and silly.  They do things like turn potty water green, mess up toys, scatter laundry and toilet paper about the floor, flip chairs upside-down, and toss couch cushions throughout the room - - all in the middle of the night while everyone is asleep.  But what's the one good thing they do?  Leave a little present somewhere hidden in the house!  Sam was quick to find his lucky treasure... a new green hot wheels truck!   (See picture below!)
Sammy showing off some of the mess that those silly leprechauns left behind!
The day started out with some yummy green chocolate chip pancakes.  Sammy loved them, but was a little hesitant to try them at first.  :)
My two lucky charms - all decked out in their green and ready to spend the day at Mamoe & Grandad's house for our 5th annual "hooley" (Irish party)!
(p.s. Thanks to Mom, Jillian & everyone for the delicious food and super fun day!)
And to end it all, a sweet little Irish blessing...  :)

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Micah Started Crawling!

That's right, everyone!  Micah has officially started crawling.  :)  He took his very first crawling steps last Tuesday...  and in this video you can see him taking some baby crawling steps all on his own!  (Here he only takes about two or three "crawls" before falling down...)  We are very proud of our little buddy and excited for his new baby milestone!  :)

We love you darling Micah!

Home Days

Every month, we set aside one weekend and call it our family's "home days."  We've been doing it for a couple years now and I love it - especially during the busy months.  The concept is that we save one weekend a month for us.  We don't really go anywhere, or make any big plans with anyone, and what's left is a whole weekend of time for us to reconnect as a family - - to catch up on things around the house - - and to enjoy these simple, precious moments together.  Because life just goes by so fast!  As our lives get busier, I find myself enjoying our home days more and more.

Here are a few highlights from this weekend.  :)

Samuel & Micah already "wrestling" like brothers...  actually, its more like Sammy wrestling Micah...  but pretty soon our little tank will be able to keep up for himself.

It was such a beautiful weekend, we couldn't help but spend the day enjoying outside.  I love taking advantage of brotherly moments... here's a sampling!

One of my favorite things about February & March is that the jasmine is in bloom!  It smells soooo lovely and it hits you as soon as you take a step outside.

Sammy helped me pick some to put in a vase inside.  :)

I love this picture.  My two darling boys, and their twenty precious toes.

What better way to end this post than with a video?  Here is Micah blowing a whole lotta raspberries for you all.  :)

Cookies

This afternoon while I was putting Sammy down for a nap, he says to me,

"Mommy, wake me up with a cookie.  And come in and put it in my hand, and close my fingers on it, and put it in my mouth, and I will wake up and take a bite!!!"

Haha!  My little boy is so creative.  Who wouldn't want to wake up from a nap in that way?!  I know I would!  So, just because I love my little guy so much, I'll see what I can do.  :)
