Our beautiful Kendall Rose

With joyful hearts, we are so thankful that God has now blessed us with a family of 5.  This post is about 21 days past due (which is understandable with three children now)... but, we finally wanted to write and post pictures of our beautiful Kendall Rose.

The last picture of Kendall still inside me.

Our precious daughter was born Thursday morning, January 9, at 5:10am.  She was perfectly healthy, with 10 littler fingers, and 10 tiny toes.  What a beautiful sight she was!  Although we were unbelievably exhausted, we just couldn't take our eyes off of her.

She weighed in at 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and measured 19 1/2 inches long.  Our tiniest baby yet!

It was a joy to have the two big brothers Samuel and Micah meet her for the first time at the hospital.  Samuel fell right in love.  :)
 Our new family of 5!

We've been asked by lots of people how the adjustment is going for our kids to having a new baby sister.  So far, things couldn't have gone any better.  We haven't witnessed any acting out, or major setbacks.  Samuel is my best helper and loves to hold her when Mommy has to hop in the shower or get food on the table.  Micah, being 2 1/2 and a boy, hasn't really taken much notice of her, which might actually be a good thing.  :)  But each time Kendall cries or fusses, Micah is usually the first one to tell Mommy that "baby kan-da-wose" needs me and that I need to go and hold her.  Only a couple weeks have gone by and he's already looking out for his little sister!  :)

On her day 8, we had our friend Lisa Lain come and take photos of our Kendall Rose.  We highly recommend Lisa's work to anyone looking for some amazing photos!  As you can see, Kendall is truly a model baby!  God created a gorgeous baby beyond words!

Kendall is now 3 weeks old, and she has started smiling with the cutest wide-mouthed smile.  :)  She is also starting to "coo" a bit.  She has two specific "wakey" times during the day... usually from 7:30am to about 10am, and again from 5pm to about 8pm or so.  The rest of the day is spent nursing, napping, and being changed.  She loves to nurse, but spits up a lot.  So, she does best with smaller, more frequent feedings.  She is a very happy, sweet little girl.  She sleeps just as happily in the swing or the carseat as in someone's arms.  We've given her 2 bottles so far and she has taken well to them!  As long as I avoid ice cream or any other super rich or gassy foods, Kendall will sleep very good for a 3 week old at night.  On average she'll wake about 2-3 times at night.  The best is when she lets us sleep from 10pm to about 2 or 2:30am.  :)  After that much solid sleep, I feel as if I could start my day right then.  :)

Overall, life is going great, as long as I take it slow.  :)  Most of my day is spent snuggling the little babe, nursing her, kissing her, smelling her sweet skin and holding her.  And I thank God for every moment of it.  Because, as I've witnessed twice before, these precious newborn days go by so fast.
One of the first mornings home, while Andrew was still off of work, and I'm sure I was full of new mom emotions, I was sitting at the breakfast table and holding Kendall, looking at her and then at all my beautiful family.  I couldn't help but just start crying and told Andrew with tears in my eyes that I just didn't want to let her go.  I'd be perfectly content being the one to hold her all day, and I didn't want to share her with anyone.  Because I don't want to miss out on any moment of what could be our last baby's infancy.  Then Andrew turned my tears to laughter when he said it was a good thing that tax season is coming up, because I'll be getting plenty of my own holding time in!  :)  And he sure is right.  But I still feel the same.  What a joy that I get to hold my beautiful daughter all day.

I'll work hard to post more pictures and possibly some video of our little darling soon!  Until then!

It's catch-up time!

Thanksgiving... Moving... Christmas... New Years...& 9 Months Pregnant!

I'm sure you can probably guess why we haven't posted anything in some time!

Here's a quick post of pictures and words to catch you up on the past couple months of our lives...  :)

This past November we started a new tradition by filling out these homemade leaves with what we were thankful to God for.  Almost every night at dinner, we would talk about what we thanked God for, and would write them down on the leaves and filled the wall with them.  :)

On November 25th, we got the keys to our new house.  Although we didn't move in until the first weekend in December, we thought it would be fun to spend the night, "camping out" in our new house together for the first time.  It was really empty, but lots of fun!  We all slept together in the same room and we had a blast just thinking about all the fun times that lay ahead for our family in this home.  Thank you Lord!
The photo below was taken the last night in our rental house.  The boys slept side-by-side in the same room  on their mattresses (which they also did for the first couple nights when we moved into the new house!).

Since it was only 2 1/2 weeks away from Christmas when we moved into our new home, one of the first things we did (after unpacking a loadful of boxes) was to pick out and decorate a Christmas tree.
Samuel & Micah also picked out their very own kid-size tree for the first time this year.  Samuel decorated it all by himself and it served as a fancy night-light upstairs for a couple weeks!  :)  This was taken Christmas morning... looks like Santa delivered a couple of presents under this tree too!

And don't forget about baby sister!  This was taken at 37 weeks, 2 days.
 Christmas morning...  :)
The best shot we could get of our family on Christmas day :)  I love it!

Our New Year's Day was extra special since we got to celebrate Andrew's birthday!

And in case any of you were wondering, this was taken of me at 38 weeks along.  Currently, there are 9 days left until her due date, so she could really come any day now!  :)  If anyone wants to take a guess about her birth date & time, there will be a prize for the closest one!
Most likely our next post will be about our new baby girl!  Stay tuned, everyone!
