Here's an update for the month of June... so far!
On Sunday, June 1, Samuel had his Sparks Awards night. He earned a beautiful green ribbon for finishing his first book and completing the review. We are so proud of him! He says that his favorite verse he's learned this year at Sparks is 1 John 4:14, "The Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world." He had fun this year seeing his buddies AJ & Callie each Wednesday night at Awana.
On Tuesday, June 3, was another remarkable night for our family - Samuel lost his first tooth! His bottom-left-front tooth was wiggly for weeks, and with a little help from Dad & a washscloth, it popped right out and he was SOOO excited! The tooth fairy came that night and left him something super special, since it was his first tooth, and all... a game for his V Reader. :) The tooth fairy also left behind a trail of pixie dust leading from his bedroom door, right up to the pillow!
On Thursday, June 5th, we celebrated this momma's birthday. And what could be more special than watching my oldest graduate from his Super Pre-K class? Here is our little graduate - off to Kindergarten in the fall. We are so proud of you Samuel!
Wednesday, June 11 was Samuel's official last day of school. It's "Aloha Days" so he donned his Hawaiian gear. He loved this beachy-straw hat of his Dad's and wore it the whole day. Here he is posing with Miss Denise, one of his three teachers.
Miss Kendall Rose turned 5 months old on June 9th! She is still just as kissable as ever. She still coos, laughs, smiles at everyone, and can brighten anyone's day. She had her 4 month check-up (we were a little behind schedule - we blame it on the fires) on June 3 and she weighed 15 pounds, 12 ounces (65%), and measured 25 inches long (47%) and head circumference of 41 cm (33%).
Here is her 5 month old photo: "Look Mommy, I can grab my toes!"
In other Kendall news, she is very ticklish like her big brother Micah, mostly on her neck and under her arms. She loves her milk, and wants to eat every 3 hours or so. She still loves to be swaddled to sleep, and her nap schedule varies, mostly depending on how loud or quiet her big brothers are. But no matter how long she naps, she's always in a good mood when she wakes up. Sleeping at night also varies - once she went 11 hours straight! But, I would say the norm is more like 2 wake-ups at night...
Here Samuel is helping Kendall practice learning to sit up by herself. She can only hold it for 1 or 2 seconds before tipping over... my guess is she'll be there by 6 months old!
Today we put sissy in the doorway jumper for the first time! She loved the new environment and the music & lights, but hasn't mastered the jumping yet. Time will tell!
On Saturday, June 7, we had our annual hula performance at the Del Mar Fair. It was opening day, so there was a good turnout! This year I was joined by two of my nieces, Leia & Laylie, up on stage! Aren't they adorable little keiki dancers?!
We had fun performing several new numbers - especially this Samoan dance. Our annual hoike performance has been postponed until the Fall (due to the fires) - so more on that (videos too!) when the time comes!
Last, but not least, we had a very nice time celebrating Andrew on Father's Day! We are so blessed to have such an amazing Daddy in this family, and are so thankful for the wonderful examples of great fathers we have in our Grampy & Grandad!
And what about Micah, you say??? Just wait for tomorrow, its his big day!!!
