Thinking of You in Mauve

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? On Tuesday I didn't have a good day. I had lots of phone calls to make about my parents. I also received a call from the Care Company to say that we owed too much money.  I had just paid an invoice. Lastly I heard that my uncle had died the night before. My poor cousin lost her mum recently as well. I decided the least I could do would be to make a card.

This is a design I have made before. There is always room for improvement. Plus there are usually new goodies to use. I decided on mauve for the card. I embossed white card and coloured it with a Distress. Yes I still have them and I still use them.

This is a Spellbinder's cross. The set has proved very useful over the years.

Finally I added the Ivy Spray dies from the John Next Door range. They are so easy to use and they go round an object beautifully. I kept them white as they showed up nicely against the background.

This card went in the post on Wednesday my cousin should have received it by now. I know some people don't make this type of card. I like to, as it gives me time to think and reflect on the people involved. I have also used this design for ordination cards.

Today I am helping at a Felting Workshop. Tomorrow I am at an  Arm Knitting workshop before we dash off to Aldershot to see my in-laws. I wonder how long it will be before we have to stop doing things.

Have a great weekend

Crafty Catz Challenge blog - Embossing Wet or Dry

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you have had a good week and are ready for the weekend. My week hasn't been too busy so I have been able to make progress with the wedding makes. I did enjoy the Felting Workshop and I go the chance to make another picture. Mine aren't as good as my friend's but they are fun to make.

Being Friday the new challenge starts on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog and the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Wet or Dry Embossing. I went for dry embossing. The fabulous sponsor this time is Star Stampz.

I used two different Rose Embossing folders from Creative Expressions for the background.

There are many wonderful images in the store if you click on the logo you will be taken there.

This image is called Balloons and Ice Cream and is available HERE.  I printed onto Neenah card stock and I coloured the image with my Promarkers. I used one of the shapes on my ScanNcut to cut out the image.

The balloons were cut with a Tattered Lace die.

This is another Tattered Lace die.

Have great weekend.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you have had a good week. When this post goes live we will be on our way back from Glasgow. We have had a few days away to celebrate my birthday well you only turn 60 once. No longer being tied to school holidays is just brilliant. I will be back later and I will be able to catch up with everyone.

Being Friday the new challenge starts on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog. The theme is Anything Goes and the optional twist is So Cute the sponsor this time is Di's Digi Stamps. The Design Team used their own images for this challenge. The prize is $12 voucher to use in the store. We also have a Guest Design Team call for June. If you are interested just put GDT after your name when you enter the challenge. We are a very friendly bunch 🙂

I decide to make a simple card with an aperture for the image. I use a leaf embossing folder for the background. Just to warn you I have lots of scraps of this blue card left over from the wedding invitations I made recently so they will be featuring in lots of my makes.

There are many wonderful images in the store if you click on the logo you will be taken there.

I decided to use one of Di's images that I already owned. This image is called Hedgehogs Bluebell Fun and it is available HERE.  I printed the image onto Neenah card and coloured it with my Promarkers. The frame I made with my matting basics rectangular dies from Spellbinders.

Aren't these hedgehogs just so cute.

Distress Oxides Easter Cards

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I so glad that the snow has gone and that it is a little warmer.

I am in a few groups on Facebook and I saw some cards made with a technique using Distress Oxides. My first thought was I won't be able to do that. Anyway I visited the blog in question and there was a link to a video tutorial. So I had a look and I thought yes that is achievable. So I had a go with what I had in my stash.

I cut some Neenah card stock to the size I required.  Then with my stamp press I stamped the daffodils with Perfect Medium and heat embossed them with a white powder. With three shades of Distress Oxides I inked the paper with some cut and dry foam starting with the darker colour and working in to the lighter colour.

I buffed the ink off of the white embossing. Then I took a paintbrush and some water and I lifted the colour from the daffodil as I went I dabbed with kitchen towel. I put some yellow  Distress Oxide on my mat and added water I used this to paint over the daffodils.

The Happy Easter is a Clarity Stamp and it was heat embossed with a gold powder.

Here is the video that I saw on my friends blog. I found it very  useful.  I didn't realise how easy it is to put videos on your blog post.

Here are all the cards together. I think I have enough Easter cards now. This was a a fun technique it was good to get the inks and stamps out again. These cards are nice and flat for posting.

I would like to enter the Easter Challenge at Moo - Mania and More ,Challenge 12 at the Craftaholics R Us Challenge blog , challenge 372 at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge blog and challenge 139 at the Creative Moments Challenge blog.
Enjoy the rest of the week.

This is something of a sad post for me. I have decided to step down from the Emerald City Crafts Challenge blog. I would like to wish her all the best for the future I am sure there are some very exciting times ahead for Linda and the rest of the team.

The new challenge starts today and as usual the theme is Anything Goes and mixed media projects are welcome.

The paper I used came from Set 3 of the Mademoiselle Digital Designer paper. The embossing folder is from Tattered Lace.

Linda's store is worth a visit there is Ephemera, Digital Papers, Stencils and much more. If the click on the logo you will be taken to the store.

The images I used came from the Mademoiselle Ephemera collection.

This is a Creative Expressions die.

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

This is my second post with a bit of news. I have joined the Design Team at the Winter Wonderland Challenge blog. This is my first post for them. The new challenge starts today and the chosen theme is Embossing wet or dry or both. The sponsor for this challenge is SheepSki Designs.

I opted for dry embossing using an embossing folder this one is called Falling Snow by Creative Expressions. I added the sentiment with the computer. I wanted to make a DL  card and I knew there wouldn't be much room.

There are many wonderful images in store click on the logo and you will be taken to the store.

This image is called Huddle and is available HERE. I printed onto Neenah Card and coloured with Promarkers. I did add some glitter

Enjoy your weekend.

Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) theme Embossing

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? We are nearly at the weekend. I really shouldn't wish the time away should I? There is so much coming up though. I still have quite a bit to make for the wedding which is about five and a half weeks away.

The new challenge starts on the Moving Along with the Times challenge blog and the theme is Embossing.

I managed to get my hands on 'That Embossing Folder'. The one that came free with a magazine and everyone wanted it and it sold out. It has been made available again and that is how I got one. I just had to use it for this challenge.

I used the Sue Wilson Just for You Oval die set to make the sentiment. The central piece I embossed with the lower portion of the folder.

Here is the detail of the embossing folder. I embossed it three times and cut our the elements and them put them together on the card.

Karen asked if we saw the wall of fame, in the Cavern District of Liverpool, on our last visit. I thought I would share my photo of it I hope Karen pops by to see it.

To me this card looks a bit French. It would be quite easy to recreate in lots of different colours.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Home for Christmas

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? Somehow my afternoons are becoming very busy and not much crafting is happening that isn't what I expected to happen. Tomorrow we are off to see Mamma Mia at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton I am very excited.

I was thrilled when I received the free gift with Simply Cards and Papercraft this month. There is an embossing folder, some dies and some stamps. Here is the card I made.

The brick paper is some textured white paper from my stash that was inked with Distress Ink. The door and the frame were created with the embossing folder. I embossed it  in white and cut out the whole frame and then I embossed it in black and cut out the door. I did a black door as our daughter's new house has a black door. The knocker and the letter box were stamped with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a silver powder.

The wreath was made with the dies that came with the set. I did have a lot of fun sticking the berries on.

The lamp was stamped with Perfect Medium and heat embossed with a copper powder.

The urn and the foliage were stamped and cut out by hand.

Here you can see me and my husband on the front row of the audience watching Sue Wilson at Ally Pally last weekend. Yes we were on telly again. It was wonderful watching Sue demonstrate.

I was rather pleased with how this card turned out. All I added apart from card was a sentiment cut with some Britannia dies.

I hope enjoy the rest of the week.

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Make it Pearly

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you had a great weekend. On Saturday we went to the Newbury Craft Show and after we met our daughter and her fiance and his parents for a meal and a spot of shopping. On Sunday we had a day catching up on bits and pieces in the house. It is good to have days like that.

On the first Tuesday of the month a new challenge starts on the Unicorn Challenge blog the theme this time is Make it Pearly.

I started by making a circular aperture in the top layer and this was embossed with folder that came free with a magazine. I found a pale pink mirror card in my stash to mat the layers and make a frame for the image. For the mat at the back I used the Bed of Roses folder by Creative Expressions.

The image is from a very old Kanban kit can you see she has pearls on her headband. As the mat is raised on foam pads she is recessed behind.

These flowers are made with punch that embosses at the same time the leaf was made with the same type of punch.

This is my stash from the Newbury Craft show.

This is my stash with the raffle prize I won.

Have a good week and there is always our challenge to join in with.

Happy Crafting

Unicorn Challenge Blog - Mystical and Magical

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

Well this is my first day back at school. It is also the first day of the first challenge on the new Unicorn Challenge blog. Please come and support us. The theme is Mystical and Magical. Please come and join us in this new venture. It is a monthly challenge starting on the first of each month.

This is my Design Team card for inspiration and I chose to use my mermaid stamp from LOTV.

I chose to use blue and aqua coloured card for the mats to give the card a marine feel.

The mermaid was stamped with black Archival and heat embossed with a clear powder. Then she was coloured with Promarkers. The frame was cut with a Sizzix die. The Black frame was embossed and I rubbed gilding wax all over it and buffed it with a dry wet wipe.

Before I assembled the card I added a large ribbon in green

Please join us for our very first challenge.

I hope you have a great week.

Happy Crafting

Best Wishes

Hi My Crafty Blog Friends

I am well and truly back the washing is all sorted and lots of other jobs have been done. I am slowly catching up with my crafty projects. It did take me a while to get back into the swing of  things, I am lucky that I get so much time to play in the summer.

Sadly while we were away the lady who plays the piano for most of our church services had a stroke and was taken into hospital. She is quite poorly and it will be a while before we know how much she has been affected. I decided to make a card to send to her.

I wanted to make something bright and cheerful and I also wanted a musical element to the card. I remembered a card I had made before in browns and I decided to adapt the design,  I made the backing paper first by stamping both sizes of butterfly from Visible Image in four shades of Distress Ink they were then heat embossed with a clear powder and the whole page was inked over in two shades of blue Distress Ink. I do like my Distress Inks.

For the topper I found some free printable pink music paper on the internet. I cut it to size with one of my Tonic square dies this made cutting the mat for it easier. I stamped the Visible Image Inkcognito Butterfly with Perfect Medium and I heat embossed it with some gold powder. On some separate card I stamped the Large butterfly which was heat embossed and then inked over with two shades of Distress ink this I cut out by hand, I found a small "Best Wishes" stamp for the corner. The topper was mounted on foam tape. I cut  tattered lace musical notes die four times and added them to the design.

I do hope this card cheers the lady up a bit. She has done so much for our church I hope that she gets better soon.

I am enjoying having the time to craft that the summer holidays brings. I hope you are having a good week.

I would like to enter this for the Challenge 72 at Crafting from the Heart and

Happy Crafting
