Thank You Card with Gerbera Flowers

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? We spent most of our travelling back and forth to see my parents. My mum was taken into hospital on Thursday evening and my dad is at  home being taken care of by the carers. We went up on Saturday and Sunday. This week between both me and my husband are very busy so we won't be able to visit again until next weekend. We are waiting for tests to find out what has been wrong with my mum.

When you have a birthday and you get nice presents you need thank you cards. All mine are made now and given out to people. I had lots of bits left over from making another card. So I decided to make them into a thank you card.

All the card I used for the layers was left over from another project.

When I was travelling to Winchester once a week I treated myself to the Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlets Dies  Mixed Media set two. I used one of the dies in the set to cut this flourish into the card. The thanks die is from Crafter's Companion.

The flowers were cut with the Gerbera Flower die from the John Next Door Range. I used the Leafy flourish die to add the foliage. The butterflies were cut with the Small Butterfly die set.

The friends who received this card liked it a lot.

With all the things going on at the moment, I am not sure how much crafting I will be able to fit in. I will just have to see.

Weaving with Snippets

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I have a busy week this week and on Thursday we are going away so that we can attend my uncles 85th Birthday lunch that he is organising himself. Today I will be helping at a Felting Workshop I think we are making bags.

When I made my thank you cards back in January I created background papers for them with Distress Oxides. I made the papers  a bit bigger than I needed. When the backgrounds were trimmed down there were small inky strips left over. Being  me I had to save them they just couldn't go to waste. So until now they have sat in a box waiting to be used. I saw a demo from Maria at Clarity stamps and she was weaving with strips of paper. I just had to have a go.

This is just a small card in fact just 4" x 4". I used the Gerbera Dies Square Background die, from the John Next Door range,  to create a pretty aperture. Then on the reverse of the aperture I stuck double sided tape. I only removed the top of the tape from two adjacent sides. Then I stuck strips going down along one side. Finally I used the remaining strips to weave the background. Once I had finished I exposed the rest of the sticky and stuck the ends down. All the ends were trimmed so they didn't show.

You can see the detail of the weaving behind the Thanks die.

I added some of the butterflies cut with the Small Butterflies die set from the John Next Door range.

I do like to have a few thank you cards in my stash you never know when someone will be kind and you will need one.

Enjoy the rest of the week

Thank You with Flowers and Butterflies

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

How is your week going? Are things back to normal for you now? Round here the children go back to school on Monday so they have a few more days to enjoy. My husband is back at work and I am slowly getting the house back to normal. I am hoping to have a big sort out this weekend. All the bits we have for Christmas have got a bit out of hand.

What do you need when you have had lots of lovely presents? Why thank you cards of course. So once I had got my craft desk sorted out after its Christmas move I was able to start crafting again.

I started by making a background with my Distress Oxides. I used watercolour card and lots of colours. I used lots of dies from the John Next Door range designed by John Lockwood. starting with  the stitched edge dies from the Snowflake background die set to make the two mats. I cut the Gerbera Square Frame die in dark purple.

This thanks die  (from Crafter's Companoion)  cut from the waste  from  middle of the of the Square Frame die.

I cut the flowers and leaves with the Gerbera Flower and Star Flowers dies all from a sheet of patterned pape with a white background. I changed the colour with Distress Ink. The butterflies were cut with the Small Butterfly die set.

I did enjoy making this card. I need quite a few thank you cards so the rest will probably be a bit more simple.

Crafty Catz Challenge blog theme Beautiful Blooms

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

This is the first of two posts from me today. Being Friday the new challenge starts on the Crafty Catz challenge blog. The theme is Beautiful blooms and the sponsor is A Day for Daisies.

I do like the combination of pink and blue. The paper was in my stash. The Thanks die is from Crafter's Companion.

There are many wonderful images in the shop. If you click on the logo you will be taken there.

The image I used is called Baby Cherry Blossom and is available HERE. I printed three onto Neenah card and I coloured them with Promarkers. Then I cut them out with the ScanNcut.

I hope you have a great weekend. I will be back with my second post soon.

CRAFT Challenge blog challenge 455 - Guest Designer

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends

I hope you are well and having a good week. It is a bit of a busy week for me one way and another. Later I am meeting an old work colleague for a coffee which will be nice. Having worked in a school the holidays are the only time I can see some people.

Way back in January I won a challenge on the CRAFT Challenge blog and because of this they asked me to be guest designer for challenge 455. The sponsor is Sweet'n'Sassy and the theme is Mother's Day/Female.

I did colour the image first then I found a backing paper with a similar colour. The frame I cut with an older Creative Expressions die. I think the card I made is feminine enough.

This is not a brand I have used before and I was impressed by the images in the store. If you click on the logo you will be taken there.

This image is called Cone Flowers and Butterfly and is available HERE. I printed onto Neenah card and coloured the image with Promarkers.

The thank you ribbon came from a gift box.

The thanks die is one from Crafter's Companion.

Thank you for stopping by. Things seem to have been a bit odd in blogland lately. I will be back tomorrow with two Design Team posts.

Enjoy the day.
