The first time I tried cooking something I could barely reach the stove or the sink, but the smell of the cake in the oven and my father’s reaction to my making his favorite cake made me come back for more.
That was a long time ago, back when I was 11 years old. Now I’m 40 – I might not have grown much (5’3”!), but my passion for food definitely has. :)
As a teenager I loved being around pans and pots, but my friends thought that was sort of weird. So can you imagine how wonderful it was for me to discover the world of food blogs? So many people like me out there, who think that making food for the people we love is absolutely fun. And they were kind and welcomed me in such a warm way – I was spoiled for life. :)
I started blogging in English in November, 2006; all the recipes posted here have been prepared, styled and photographed by me. I have no professional training, nor work with anything related to food, but have learned a lot trying, reading, researching and with the help of my blogger friends. I’m addicted to cookbooks and magazines, too. :)
Most of my posts are sweet recipes, because I think desserts are the best part of a meal. I’ll choose a fruit dessert over a chocolate one anytime and citrus flavors are my thing – give me anything lemony and you’ll put a huge smile on my face.
Up until this post I used a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P200; from this post until now I’ve been using a Nikon D40 with the lenses that came with it (18-55mm). I also use a very simple tripod and a large piece of Styrofoam to reflect the light; I don’t post process much, but when I do I use either Picasa or PicMonkey. I always, no matter what, use natural light and never use flash.
Besides cooking and photographing my food, I’m also crazy about movies – hence the name of the blog. Martin Scorsese is my favorite director; I don’t give a damn about the Oscars but every year I get mad because of all the talented people that never win it. I love TV shows as well – "Damages" and "Breaking Bad" are the best I've ever seen. And even though I’m not a comedy kind of gal "Seinfeld" has a very special place in my heart.
To me, Smiths are the best band in the whole world - I started listening to them in 1987, the same year they broke up, and haven’t stopped ever since. Silverchair is #2 in my list.
