Don’t make me get my flying monkeys. By Tracy Blackwolf

Hello all! And Happy October! My favorite month…

I hope you enjoy my card for this week.

For this card, I started by stamping all of the images first.

Then I painted the whole background with distress spray stains and water and a brush. I really love doing water color with them as I like the way they blend.
I kept playing with color and adding more color until I was happy with the sky. It was pretty wet and time to walk way for the day so it got to dry overnight. Which is rare for me but it definitely has a different look than when I heat dry it. I came back and added more color to the sky again. Not too much.
Next I painted the bat and the witch.
Things always look different on camera than in person and I had issue with part of the sky by her broom. It was not blended right to me. I can be a perfectionist. It’s annoying. lol.  So, of coarse I had to fix it. I also felt she needed a bit of magic mist to be flying on so I added so white pan pastel. Then I layered the card onto cardstock. I was going for a bit of old time Halloween card look so hopefully that comes across.
The little bat seems just curious but the witch isn’t up for any shenanigans.

I hope you enjoyed- enjoy fall…it’s far too short.

TGIF the 13th! - by Cheetarah

Hey all, it's Cheetarah here and I have a fun mixed media postcard to share with you for today. Since it's Friday the 13th I thought I would make a Halloween version of TGIF!
Little Nosferatu likes to unwind on friday the 13th and have brains for happy hour!
As usual a full list of stamps and materials used is at the end of this post.

I made this card on packaging, added other left over bits and pieces to it (I hate to waste stuff), applied gesso over it and worked with layers of distress paints. I also lightly added some texture paste over the Marbles stencil from the Crafter's Workshop to give it some "brain like mass" texture. Then stamped over it with some great mixed media and skulls stamps.

You can see the texture a lot better here. I have used distress crayons and pearl rubs in black and gold to give it shading. Nosferatu was stamped on a piece of sticker paper and "Brains fuck head" is made with two different stamps. I used letter stickers to form TGIF the 13th and lastly added some spatters in white and gold.

Hope this card made you chuckle and wishing you an awesome friday the 13th! (TGIF!)

Stamps used:

Materials used:
Distress paints: Hickory Smoke, Carved Pumpkin, Barn Door, faded jeans
Liquitex inks in Gold and White
Distress Crayons
Staz-On inks in Cherry red, Jetblack, Midnight blue, Stone Grey
Perfect Pearl rub ons
Marbles stencil from the Crafter's Workshop
Modeling paste

I Want To Be Your Mummy

Next to Christmas, Halloween is my favorite time of the year!  Halloween is a time of fun and harmless mischief.  I love the little children coming to the door in costumes, excited for treats.

Last year's Halloween Plate is one of my favorite plates.  AND - this mummy is Fantastic!!!

VLVS Images:

12961 Bat
18918 "31"
18907 Cemetary
18911 Full Moon
18919 Spiked Fence
14748 Mummy
19230 Coffee Ring Stain (dots only)

Start with a plain tag.  Rip word/dictionary paper and adhere in random spots on tag.

Use paint and stains to create creepy backdrop. Stamp images except mummy.

Moon stamped over painted yellow area.  White Sakura of America Gel Pen added for accent, and more yellow for shading.  The cloud part was stamped on right side of tag without moon.

Mummy is stamped, highlighted with white Gel Pen, and then stained for shadows.

Wire at top adds extra dimension as well as a die cut bat on middle left of tag.

My mummy's calling so I must go........................

Is it The Headless Horseman????

Is it the Headless Horseman??? Is it Paul Revere??  Is it the Pony Express????  I don't know, maybe the Headless Horseman decided to put his head back on!

Taking a non-Halloween image and mixing it with Halloween images is wayyyy too much fun!  You can interpet this art in many ways!

Take the Cowboy Carring Letter and the R.I.P. and Jack O' Lantern image and combine them to create a creepy look!

VLVS Images:
18992 Cowboy Carring Letter
18897 R.I.P. Jack O' Lantern
18916 Small Left Raven
12961 Bat

Stamp the cowboy first (Using permanent black ink) and color the way you prefer.

Next, ink up only the pumpkin area of the R.I.P.  and Jack O' Lantern in orange (I used Mementos ink).

Referring to illustration of completed project, use first yellow gelly roll, then black permanent marker to fill in the pumpkin.  The eyes were made more slanted to look evil.  Cut the pumpkin out and adhere on top of the cowboy's head using Miracle Tape

In my last post I told you how you can use a Miracle Tape Sheet to mount behind the square of paper, then cut out the image in order to cover the whole area in adhesive.  You may choose to use one of the smaller widths of Miracle Tape as well.

Added a few "pumpkin lines" as well.  For the grass I used a green Memento ink and just inked up the grass area of the R.I.P. and Jack O' Lantern image and stamped.  I used an Identipen in green to connect all the grass more together.

Lastly, stamp the bat twice and the raven image.  I added acouple dash marks to make movement.  The background is easy to make, use your die cutting machine or a Martha Stewart punch made to go all around the page.  This was done on the yellow cardstock.  The yellow cardstock was mounted on Orange to compliment the pumpkin.  A little epoxy sticker was added on the bottom right.

Play and have fun with your stamp images!!  I like letting out the child within to create unusual and different type of illustrative art.  I imagine all sorts of stories.  What do you imagine????
