Happy Birthday Google!

Whenever I'm in doubt, whenever I need an answer, whenever I need more information, whenever I'm lost in cyberspace... you're always there for me (provided I have internet connection lah...)
Thank you, Google... Happy Birthday to you. :D

Ninja what?

On Monday I met up with my buddy for lunch. This place was reviewed before by Winn Winn. Called the Ninja Jones... Makes you wonder who comes up with such a name. Maybe the guy's name is Jones and he's a ninja? Or maybe someone misread Indiana Jones as Ninjana Jones? I wonder. :P

Firstly, I thought the place was located in North Court, but when I double checked, it was in North Point. Well basically it's somewhere in the new condominium block across Mid Valley Megamall.

When we finally arrived at the place after bracing through the hot weather walking across the bridge, we saw this...

Darn... not opened yet? We checked the operating hours... open at 12pm. Checked the time, 12-ish. Should be open. Then we realized there's a red button beside. Once pressed, the door slides open and someone was at the door to greet us.

We were brought to be seated upstairs. Pardon the picture quality as it's quite dark inside, and I'm only using camera phone.

The set up is pretty funky. I bet the owner spent quite some money to renovate the place.

This is my buddy's Tempura and Soba set.

This is my Grilled Salmon set. Again, pardon the picture quality.

This is the view from the gents. You'll see 3 katanas near the window. The toilet seat is pretty fancy, I think they flew it in from Japan. It's the same kinda seat you'll find in a lot of places in Japan. It's got the bidet function and all.

Overall the food is quite good. My grilled salmon was really yummy. The environment is darn cool. Price wise, expect to pay about 30-50 per pax.

And that's that. ;)

More Meet Ups

The yummy Tiramisu.

The other day, I suddenly received a call from Winn Winn. It seems like the hamsap Cocka was in town and they are planning for an informal meet up in Bangsar. And so I said, yup, sure, I'll be dropping by.

By the time I reached the venue, nobody was there yet, so I just loiter around aimlessly. After some while I bump into Angel as well as Moz and thus we went in together.

After a while, Winn, King's Wife, and Cocka came one by one. The 6 of us sit there and chat the night away. Very funny bunch of companies. I think the guys at the next table probably thought we're mad, laughing so loud. :P

Ipoh Day (makan) Trip

Yesterday, I had a food tour to Ipoh with some ex-colleagues. A bit lazy to elaborate, so I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.

On my way to pick up the rest of the gang. The sky looks pretty gloomy, I just hope it doesn't rain all day.

On the North South highway. Darn cool mountains with clouds lingering around them. Feels like heaven. LOL.

Finally exits the highway and got into Ipoh town.

First stop, the famous dim sum place called Foh San. Everyone was real hungry so nobody bothered about taking pictures of the food. Overall I find the things so so, probably because I expected something better after many good reviews about the place. One thing worth mentioning though is their eggtarts, very nice indeed.

After filling our tummies with dim sum, we walked over a nearby biscuit shop called Yee Hup for some "Heong Pang" to bring back home.

Not far away is the famous Lou Wong beansprout chicken. Time is still early, as they are only open at about 5pm.

And right across the street is the main competitor, Ong Kee. Also not opened yet.

Because we're still quite full from the dim sum, we went to the oldtown area for the famous white coffee. Stopped by this shop called Sin Yoon Loong. The coffee is very aromatic, but a tad too sweet. I guess the next time I'll have to ask for "kurang manis".

Next up we dropped by Sun Seng Fatt for their famous curry mee. As you can see at the background, a storm is already brewing and seems like it's gonna rain anytime soon. Luck was on our side as it started raining cats and dogs after we stepped into the shop. It took us a while for the ordered things to arrive, and by the time we finish eating, the rain has almost stopped completely.

Next, we went all around town to hunt for the famous Hong Kee Mah Chee. We made a mistake and ended up at the other side of town. Tried asking some guys at a petrol station but they are unable to give us very clear directions. That was until we dropped by a Vegetarian shop. The operator of the shop gave us a very clear directions to the place and we managed to find it without much difficulty.

After the Mah Chee we actually dropped by the Ipoh Parade to look see look see until about 5pm. Then we came back to Lou Wong for our early dinner. Everything tastes pretty good, but a little bit too salty for my taste. Maybe another time if I ever come by Ipoh I'll try the competitor, Ong Kee.

Finally, we depart for home with a happy tummy. :D

Meeting Up with Strangers

Yesterday, after work, I went to this place called Bijou in Mont Kiara to meet up with a bunch of people from one of the Facebook network groups.

It was my first time visiting Bijou so I did not know where exactly is it. So I stopped by the roadside in front of Wisma Sunrise and called for directions from one of them guys. After given some directions I managed to find the place.

When I stepped inside, I was wondering whose reservation should I ask for, of course it's probably the organizer's nickname, but I'm just afraid she might use her real name, so I say "I'm joining the biggest group reservation, prolly about 30-40 people". LOL. And luckily we're the only big group that night. So I was being brought to the right section.

On the table, I only see one of the member sitting there anxiously waiting for others to appear. And the time is already about 8pm (which was the time to meet). Well I guess most of them stay true to the Malaysian spirit of "punctuality". LOL.

After some chit chats with the ONLY member, people starts to pour in slowly. The guys who organize this reserved for about 25 people but I think easily closed to 40 appears. All these people came from very different backgrounds but they have one thing in common, they are a fun lot to be with. So we just dine and chat the night away.

I'll definitely look forward to meet up with this gang in the future. :D

Symbian Mobile Phone Tips

This is a tip I picked up from the symbian phone forum, DotSis. Supposedly speeds up your phone, and works with most symbian based phones (esp Nokia n-series). I personally don't see much different, but since it's just a few simple steps, why not try it?

First of all, create a To-do item:
Subject: Speed
Due Date: 29-01-2005
Priority: High

Then create a second To-do item:
Subject: Qoukie
Due Date: 29-01-2005
Priority: Low

Now go mark the Speed item as
done, followed by marking the Qoukie item as done.

Finally, reboot your phone (or Off then On).

Does it work? Well, many swear by it, some even claim 40% increase in speed. I personally don't quite feel it. And why does it works? I've no idea. Maybe you can give it a try and let me know if it works for ya. ;)

Lunch with a Friend

Today a friend of mine, AC, happens to be around my office area and so he called me up. Since it's about lunch time at that moment, we decided to meet up for lunch. We pondered on where to go and finally decided to go here:

If I'm not mistaken, this place has been reviewed by a friend and fellow foodies blogger Babe some time ago. Although it's not that far from my office, this is the first time I'm patronizing this eatery.

Because AC just had some food earlier on, so he just ordered something simple. This is the Chocolate Orange cake thingy (can't remember the name :P) Mille Crepe.

And this is my Iced Peach Tea... pretty standard Lipton stuff.

My erm... darn I've forgotten what this is called. It's something like an eggplant lasagna. Inside there's layers of sliced eggplants rather than the lasagna noodles. This dish is very yummy if you're a cheese lover, because it's loaded with cheese. But somehow I find the eggplants within still a bit hard (not well done). Not sure if this is how the dish should be though.

The place seems to be quite popular as it's almost fully seated during lunch time. In fact, half of the patrons seems like college students.

I’ve Finally Joined PayPerPost

I believe many of you would have more or less heard about making money through blogging. Of course, I’ve heard much about it too. Among the methods of making money, the 2 most talked about ones are putting ads on your blog and get paid to blog.

In actual fact, I’ve been hearing about the famous get paid to blog site, PayPerPost, since last year, but all this while I have been procrastinating to find out more about it. It was until somewhere like last week when I was chatting online with a blogger friend who has just joined PPP that I’ve decided to find out more and sign up to PPP.

PPP gives you the opportunity to write about stuffs and at the same time get paid for doing so. Nothing beats being able to express yourself through writing while earning some extra pocket money. And it’s always good to have these extra cash to pay for things that you have always wanted to get.

For my case, I’m actually quite a fan of fancy gadgets and gizmos but it’s always a bit hard to budget for a purchase due to other commitments. If I can have some extra income, there are oh-so-many things that I would want to get, for example a handheld GPS device, a new digital camera, and some day maybe I could even afford a laptop computer paid fully by PPP.

Just got back...

from client's place in Mentakab. Tired tired tired. Got to meet up with my secondary schoolmate over there. What a small world huh.

Will update this post with more details. Time to hit the sack.

*UPDATE*

Well, actually nothing much, because this is a work trip. It's actually supposed to be the same trip as mentioned in a previous post.

That fella die die also refused to go. So me being a nice (actually more like stupid) guy said OK when my colleague asked me to go instead.

So I left home at about 7:30am, estimating that I should reach there by 9-ish (I heard it's about 2 hours drive). But I've forgotten about the traffic condition around the MRR2 stretch. Stuck in a minor jam for a while before moving forward.

I used the MTD Prime's KL-Karak highway, then connect to the new East Coast Expressway. It was a really pleasant drive, although the toll can be quite expensive. Love 'em curves :P

I managed to reach Temerloh exit at about 9am. Then I asked the toll booth guy for directions to my client's place. Luckily it was quite straight forward, just left, right, left, left and I should be there. Finding the place was no sweat too, although I did went a bit too far because the signs are not clear.

When I reached, I proceed to find the person in charge, and was led to the server room. For the next few hours I worked on the system. Yes, Winn Winn, I did complain sian because I had to wait for the installation which takes about 2 hours to complete.

At lunch time, I joined a bunch of them for lunch. While driving there, I asked about a secondary school friend of mine because I know he always come to Mentakab to supply things for this company. And surprisingly, they know him quite well and said he should be around. One of them talked to him on the phone and asked him to come over to the place we're gonna have lunch.

It's quite funny meeting my friend in a remote place like this. Seems like they know each other quite well because it's not such a big place afterall.

After lunch we went back and I proceed with the setups. Halfway through, they suddenly told me they forgot to set something. I'm like "Uh oh", because I might need to reset everything from beginning again. And in fact I did do that, and thus my time was dragged until night.

Managed to get everything up and leave the place at about 10pm. Phew... lucky I don't need to stay overnight there. :P

Driving back was a little more challenging because it's raining quite heavy along the way. The ECE is not as brightly lit compared to some of our highways here. To make matters worse, there are quite a lot of water puddles along the way due to the rain.

Along the way I saw a Wira that lost control most probably due to the water puddles was stopping beside the road with the front bumper damaged and the whole car facing the opposite direction.

Managed to reach home at about 12:30am. Quite tiring indeed. :P
