here I am again, back at my blog. At one point I was so lazy that I didn't want to do any more updates, but now I've decided to revisit blogging casually, maybe even start another blog with a specific topic.
As I was fiddling with the new interface (not sure since when this was implemented), I realized that there are some new templates available, like the one you see currently (dynamic template - flipcard), which looks quite awesome.
Anyways, some updates even though you might not be interested to know. I've been doing quite a bit of travelling last year (if you've noticed from some posts back then). When I look back and made some calculations, I've spent about 8 months out of Malaysia in 2011. About 2 months was in Singapore, while another 6 was pretty much in Toronto. Kinda scary because my 2011 just zoomed by without me realizing, and suddenly it's 2012 already.
For this year (2012), so far I've spent about 1.5 months in Jakarta already. And next up I'll be going to Singapore again for about a month. Anyways I don't foresee this year to be travelling as much as last year, but I better not speak too soon. :P
Actually I'm kinda surprised with all that travelling in 2011, I still managed to squeeze in 2 dive trips to Tenggol. This year I have yet to 开斋, which is kind of worrying. Supposed to join my friend's trip in May, but now seems like I won't be able to make it because I will be in Singapore. Oh well, let's see how things go.
Also, another side effect of the travelling is that my progress in Aikido took a hit obviously, as I am not in town to join classes. I did try to join some classes in Toronto, but wasn't very consistent. I think I probably should seek out the Singapore Aikikai group and join their classes. Sometimes I do feel kind of sad when I came back and join the local classes, seeing most of my juniors surpassing me and obtaining higher rankings. But then again, I remind myself that my main purpose is to train and learn, and in fact I didn't want to progress in ranks in the beginning. So it's all good.
Just an average guy, living an average life, trying to be extraodinary once in a while :P

It Just Struck Me...
As we know and have observed, the world we live in today is very much different from what it used to be like 20 years ago. Geeks are being celebrated (was just reading about a feature on the topic some time back), and homosexuality is no longer hidden (in certain countries like Canada, which held the Pride week celebration this week).
I think one of the reason is as we move towards a more and more advanced information age, geeks has become the icons of the era. With superior ability to wield the power of information, it really reflects on the term "the pen is mightier than the sword".
As for homosexuality, avoiding the physical attraction factor, I think the reason why there are more and more people who embraces homosexuality, is because they find people of the same gender most of the time to be more understanding as they would have probably gone through similar experiences, and have similar train of thoughts. So I guess these people would prefer to spend their lifetime with someone whom they are comfortable with, rather than following to the norm of being with a partner of the opposite sex.
Hmm... typing out my thoughts in words doesn't seem to reflect the whole idea. I think this post needs more refinement.
Anyways it's late. Good night.

HOT!
Tomorrow Toronto might hit a record high temperature of 33 degrees (feels like 41) since 1949 (31.7 degrees). Then later that day might have some thunderstorms to lower the temperature. But overall a pretty hot week.
Some observations lately... seems like quite a lot of homicide cases in Canada. Read about an Asian teen being shot dead near downtown just over last weekend, and just now over the news, a 32 year old white male was shot dead in Mississauga, and a homeless man and bystander died from gunshot in Montreal.

Greetings from YYZ
Once again, I'm here in Toronto. Just arrived on Sunday evening and 2nd day at work now. Kinda interesting to experience a different (season of) Toronto. Lovely 10-ish degrees weather, and no snow.

Shift of trend
We pretty much knows that a lot of trends come and go. More so for technology. When Facebook started to gain popularity in Malaysia, that's when blogging began to dwindle. And now with Twitter alongside, I would say probably about 70% of the bloggers dropped blogging sites, while maybe 29% posted less. There's probably 1% who still blogs regularly, refusing to give the fort up.
A quick browse on all the blogs that I frequent shows that this is quite true. Most of them have already stopped blogging, a number of them have probably like an update every 1-2 months (I'm guilty of that too), and there are a select few (especially those who bought their own domain name) who still diligently keep their blog sites up to date.
In fact, I have not been checking on blogs much anymore now that I can get updates by the minute of my friends through Facebook (well not exactly by the minute as I can't access from work, but you get the idea). As for Twitter, I have yet to succumb to it for now, though more and more friends are asking me to join in. It has been said by some that Twitter would be a FB killer, though I think it's highly unlikely. From the way it looks, Twitter will probably blend in as part of the vital tools of social networking (for quick updates of status etc), while FB will still be the mammoth that offers everything from sharing of pictures, bulletin boards, events scheduling/invitation to games and so on.
I wonder what the future holds for social networking... we'll just have to wait and see.

Another month passes by...
... and we're almost half way through 2009 already. Man, time sure does fly, innit? Today's post is gonna be very random... just random thoughts off my head.
Have you guys ever thought about this: the color that I saw might not be the color that you see. Yeah, some time back I was reading about friends doing color blindness test on Facebook, and this just suddenly hit me. What if not everyone's eyeballs are created equal? Maybe the color which I see and recognize as red, your eyes might see it as blue (in my interpretation), yet that is what you would label as red. You get the drift? Or are you confused now? :P
So if it really is as above, then that would probably explain why some color matches look nice, while some others might disagree.
Ah, screw it. I'm off to bed. Nite!

Random
Last Friday I was hanging out with some buddies in a cafe, listening to live band while playing "chor dai dee" (also known as Big 2). Though no $ involved (we always play for fun), I've been losing quite a lot of games in the beginning... until I get this...

Yeah, royal flush... ROYAL FLUSH... hahaha... first time I got this in my life :P Too bad we're not playing for $... hehe.
The biggest thing happened over the weekend would have to be the 12th general erec... err I mean election on Saturday. Results weren't that surprising, considering the string of disappointing events happening in the country for the past few years. Most people are looking for a change, and seems like we're gonna be getting a change indeed.
On Saturday night, as the results are being revealed, there are fears that riots might ensue. I actually still did went out "yumcha" with some highschool friends, and the whole town is pretty empty. The usual happening places in town are probably having 1/5 of the usual crowds. Other than that, everything seems very peaceful.

Stolen... Again
Yesterday was our first day back to work after the long Chinese New Year break... and our notebooks got stolen by intruders at the client's office during lunch time... aiyoh -_-"
What happened was that the client place is a factory with pretty ok security, so all this while we always leave our notebooks in the office when we go out for lunch. Furthermore, usually the factory canteen is open and thus there's always staffs around the area. But, this week the canteen is not open, so all the staffs have to drive out for lunch.
So from the CCTV, it seems that during lunch time, an indian fella came to the guard house and started talking to the guard on post (usually there's 2 but one went for lunch). While being distracted, the CCTV caught 2 more guys went past the guard house into the compound. Usually there should be another glass door that can't be opened unless you have a magnetic card... but probably the 2 sneaked in when someone is coming out. A staff claimed to have seen them roaming and summoned the security guard to chase them out, not realizing that they've already stolen 3 notebooks.
By the time we got back from lunch, I walked in and noticed the notebooks are all gone, leaving the charger and network cables dangling. At first my colleague thought someone pulled a prank, but apparently from what it seems, I got a bad feeling that the notebooks have been stolen. (A similar incident happened to me 2 years back at my ex-ex-office). And after verifying with the CCTV, it's pretty obvious there's a theft.
So, the whole of yesterday's afternoon was spent at the police station reporting the case, then move to another bigger police station to notify them, and they followed us back to the office trying to get some finger prints and stuff.
Anyhow I think there's a very slim chance of recovery, as these thieves should be quite pro. According to the inspector, there's a similar case last week at another factory, involving 9 notebooks... *sweats*

On my way home today...
and saw this at the toll booth...

I was wondering... what's going on? Doesn't seemed like a road block to me. Then as I move in closer to the queue for toll payment, I barely see this:

Yea it's not too clear, I guess you can't really see what's going on. Apparently a car rammed right into the toll area (SMART tag lane) and seems to have hit on the divider stone. The car is badly damaged, virtually wrapped around the divider.
As much as I don't like lunatic drivers (assuming he/she is one...), I do hope the person survives the crash... o_0"

Spoke too soon
Just when I was saying how I enjoyed driving recently... My new job requires me to be stationed at...

No, not Seremban... but then, Semenyih. Dang. That's about 75~80km from mah home. And it's not really my job function to be stationed there in the first place. I hope my involvement in this project ends soon.

On the road
Thanks to the road closure in KL, I was practically jammed all the way to customer site today.

Crawl... crawl... crawl...
Then I noticed something beside the fast lane. 1... 2... 3... ... ... I think I counted about 6 of them just on a stretch of the road for about 1 to 2km.
Guess what are they?

Weekend Updates
Happening weekend. Too lazy to post so I'll just put things in summary. Hahaha :P
Friday meet up with my buddy for dinner. Went to try out this new Korean place called BBQ Woo Ga Chon in Sunway Mentari. Not bad, first time I'm trying Korean food. Maybe I'll blog more about it in another post.
Saturday my ex colleagues bought me buffet dinner (for my birthday) in Midvalley Cititel Cafe. So happens that the menu was BBQ, so most of the stuffs are BBQed, and there are quite a lot of meat. Service is so so, and they are quite slow on refills. After that we went "yum cha" in Hartamas.
*Looks at time* Wow, very late/early already... time to hit the sack. Ciao!

Untitled
Another untitled entry... my creativity is at it's all time low these days :P
These 2 weeks have been madly busy with work stuffs. First is meetings after meetings, then have to prepare myself for a couple of presentations, and then have to support customers.
Tiring... Just writing an update to let you all know I'm still alive. Hahaha. And yeah, I'm still going for my dance classes, formal and informal ones.
Oh yea... before I forget, 端午节快乐! (By the way, Safari browser is quite hopeless at posting mandarin :P)

Traffic Jam
When I said traffic was smooth yesterday, I guess I spoke too soon.
Today's traffic was a nightmare. I left office at about 6:45pm today, and reached home almost at 9pm. This is like double the time it usually takes me to reach home from work, WITH the normal jam. Heard on the radio that there's some road construction work going on around Sunway... ROAD WORK AT RUSH HOUR? Idiot people are at it again. And mind you, this is not the first time I've encountered such situations. There was once, on my way to work (about 8am), they closed down 2 lanes of a 3-lane stretch on the highway. What were they thinking? Really "boleh" lah.
*UPDATED*
I'm now packing my bags and doing some work stuffs and blogging at the same time. Will be spending my weekend with a bunch of ex-colleagues in Cherating.
Woohoo... Cherating, here I come. :P
Actually I've been there before, and as some would say, there's really nothing much to see. But it's the companies that matter, right? Hope I have a chance to grab some nice nice lekor on the way too :P

Unfathomable Entry (II)
So, continuing from the previous post, with assumption that we can ignore the high heat and high pressure, plus the lava and stuffs won't leak out, we dig a tunnel through earth.
If we're able to make the tunnel all vacuumed up (i.e. no friction, no energy loss), if we dump something through the tunnel, we should be able to have a scenario as below:

(Note: Got some problem getting the animated GIF to work in thumbnail. Until I get it fixed, you'll have to click on the image to see what I mean)
So in this case we could probably travel from one place to another (example: India to Mexico in illustration) and back using the power of gravity.
You get what I mean? :P

Unfathomable Entry
Recently I was reminded of something I thought about long long time ago. You know, in a way, I'm quite a thinker kinda guy. If left with nothing to do my mind will wander and think of all kinds of things.
The thing is about gravity. We all know that source of gravity pretty much is at the center of the earth. Assuming that we ignore the high heat at the core level, as well as the high pressure, if we are able to drill a tunnel through the center (as seen below), if something fall through the tunnel, it will fluctuate between the center, and ultimately stop there.

Err... -_-"
HAHAHA...
PS: actually story haven't finish... please stay tuned till the second installment :P

Witnessed an Accident
Early morning on my way to work, saw this accident right in front of me at the Kewajipan Road. It was right at the beginning of the fly over heading for Sunway... 4 cars involved... I think the first one was a Suzuki 4x4, 2nd car don't quite remember, 3rd was a Kelisa, and the last one was a Civic. And I was right behind but trailing from quite a distance (about 4-5 car distance - since today not very jam, I was taking my own sweet time driving :P )
Doesn't seem like a very high impact crash... but can see the Kelisa and the Civic's debris all over the floor.
