Quilled Lotus

Dear friends,

Indian Quilling Challenge group is set with new challenge and the new crew today. The challenge we set for the month is Anything goes with pink in it.

My Inspiration is a quilled lotus - my longing desire to do this art has come true.

Lotus - the national flower of India. Emerges from muddy waters but un-spoilt and pure. It is considered to represent a wise and spiritually enlightened quality in a person. The unopened bud is representative of a folded soul that has the ability to unfold and open itself up to the divine truth.

Lotus represents eternity, purity, divinity, and is widely used as a symbol of life, fertility,ever-renewing youth. It is a symbol of awakening to the spiritual reality of life.

I really enjoyed peace while doing this artwork.

Submit your entries to the challenge blog.

Textured tissue paper background card

Hi Friends,

Last Week celebration Challenge from Create Something Catchy is the challenge from Pallavi Iyer.

Challenge Theme - Create your own background. It could be on a card, layout or an altered project.  No pattern paper allowed.Use tools like stamps, handmade or commercial stencils, paints, watercolours, texture pastes, embossing or anything else that strikes your fancy and show us your creative experiments.
Here is my card

An easy tutorial for tissue paper textured background

Material required:

1. Tissue paper - 1 no
2. Glue mixed with water
3. Card stock
4. Colours (here i used distress ink)
5. Sponge

1. Apply a thin coat of glue to the cardstock and place the tissue on top, and allow it to wrinkle. Just flatten gently with your hand.

2. I  sponged the distress inks over it, the colours will blend well when it is wet.

3.  Allow it to dry and flatten it under some books to get rid of the curls at the edges. Your textured paper is ready.

I have used textured paste with floral stencils and fixed some quilled flowers to it.
