Wild Birthday

wildbday

Time for another CCEE challenge! Anne tells us that .... "March comes in like a Lion" So our challenge this week is to create a card with a wild animal theme.

Mine may not be as wild of an animal as you would think of when you hear wild animal. But he called out to me more than the other wild animals did.

I used a stamp from Imaginisce and colored with prismacolor pencils. Sentiment comes from Cornish Heritage Farms birthday set. Added some ribbon and a brown layer and there is my card.

Inlaid Die Cuts card

diesomething

Time for another challenge over at CCEE! Sabrina tells us that It wouldn’t be a month of challenges from her without a technique challenge,  so here’s a technique challenge pure and simple...or not so simple; it’s up to you.

Inlaid die-cuts

Here are a few links which might help you create something using this technique.

Easy: Inlaid Die Cuts

More Complex:

Puzzle Piece Resist

Inlaid Die Cuts Tutorial

I wasn’t sure how I’d do this so I just pulled out a die that had multiply layers and went to work. (yes, the sentiment is a little crooked as I worked the entire card backwards! lol)

Kept it simple by just making it two tone. Used new set from Cornish Heritage Farms called Scripture Essentials. Added some bling in the corners.

Kiss the frog

frog

Yes, I am still alive even though my blog would say otherwise. Sorry I have not been posting much, have lost my mojo and am slowly finding it again. I am also down a team and another team is taking a break so I don’t have as many weekly postings as I use to have. But enough about me…..

Time for another CCEE challenge! New month means a new challenge hostess, Sabrina!  February 6th 1952 was the day Queen Elizabeth ascended to the throne. So for our challenge this week Sabrina has challenged us to Make a card featuring crowns or "royal" images. Remember that playing cards could work for this too!

I decided to go a complete different route in using a crown/royal image than the same old princess way. I used some fun design paper for my card. Made the hearts all sparkly by outlining and filling in with pink Stickles.

For the inside of the card I stamped the following sentiment from a retired set I have and colored the crown with copics.

You make me happy

hotairballoons copy

There is still time to do the CCEE challenge! This past week’s challenge was Stamp Etching. You can find a tutorial on how to use this technique over on Splitcoast Stampers

For my card I used Love is in the Air from a company no longer in business, Our Craft Lounge. I did the stamping etching on the balloons, at first I wasn’t to happy about it but the more I looked at the card, the more I did like how it turned out! I positioned each block to make it seem as if the hot air balloon was raising up in the sky. Colored them with copics and did a little masking with for the cloud.

With Sympathy

withsympathyajh

It is time for another CCEE challenge.

This week Vicky Gould continues as our challenge hostess for the month.

Today is the 20th anniversary of Vicky’s mom’s entrance into heaven… so for our challenge this week Vicky has asked us to make a sympathy card for your stash in her memory.

I used Cursive Greetings II by Paper Pretties for my card. Kept my card pretty clean and simple. Cuttlebugg’d the background, added a black trim and a black prima flower.

Christmas Tic-Tac-Toe

snowdog

It’s challenge time again over on the CCEE Stampers blog. Our challenge hostess is Lyn McAultry.

For our challenge this week, Lynn has challenged us to
Create a Christmas card using the tic-tac-toe board below. Use all three items in any row: across, down, or diagonally. You may add additional items to your card if you like, but you must include the 3 in the row you have chosen.

image

I went with Snow, Embossing, Glitter.

I used Snow Angel Murphy from North Coast Creations for my card. Colored Murphy with copics and cut him out completely. Attached him with dimensions. Used some fun papers for the background and a scallop die for the checked paper.

As for my snow, embossing, glitter….. I embossed the snow with Iridescent ice embossing powder so it looks like glitter when embossed. Hard to tell in the picture but it looks like Murphy is making a glitter snow angel.

Noel

Well it is time for another challenge over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week Maryann Einam continues as our challenge hostess for the month.

Maryann has asked us to create a card using photos, photo stamps etc.

Well I don’t have any photo stamps and my printer is out of ink so I can’t print any photos. What to do? I decided to share a Christmas card I made back in 1996! Since I have 4 kids, I decided to take a picture of them each holding a letter that would then spell out Noel.

Noelajh copy

Easy you say? Sure, if you didn’t have a 9 month old holding the letter L wanting to eat it! lol

JordenL1 Only took a handful of shots of her to get the one I used on the card!

Stamped snowflakes in the background and used matching ribbon and cardstock to finish off my card.

Movember Gnome

mustachgnome

Time for another CCEE challenge!! This being a brand new month, it is time to introduce Maryann Einam as our challenge hostess for the month.

Maryann has asked us to celebrate Movember by created a card that features a moustache.

I racked my brain for the longest time trying to think of what image I had with a moustache. I thought I was going to have to sit this one out as I didn’t have a single thing and then it hit me. I have the Gnome What? set from North Coast Creations! duh! The Gnome has a moustache!!  So that is what I used.

Colored image with copics and used a white gel pen for his moustache and beard. Did a little out of the box cutting with the mushroom stamp.

Happy Anniversary

amberfallinspiredcopy

Time for another challenge over at the  CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week our challenge hostesses for the month Liz and Lynn has another fun challenge for us.

This time round the challenge is to Create a card using the rich, wonderful colors of autumn.

I used an image from Paper Pretties for my card. Now you may say well that doesn’t look like an autumn card. Well let me explain. Today, 21 yrs. ago I was waking up for one of the most important days of my life…. my wedding. So this card of course represents that crisp fall day using fall colors. The clothes are paper pieced.

amberfallinspiredcopy

Of course the above looks nothing like my husband and I so I thought I would share a picture from that happy day oh so many years ago. (and really we were happy, this was just one of those serious shots)

Happy Halloween

pumpkinscary

Challenge time over at the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Our challenge hostesses of the month, Liz Williams & Lynn McAuley continue to bring us fun challenges.

Create a card using your favorite ghoul, ghost, monster, or witch to scare up some Halloween fun.

I don’t do Halloween so I have no ghoul, ghost or monster images so I went with a Jack ‘o Lantern cupcake using Paper Pretties Holiday Sweets I instead. Colored the image with copics. Added yellow stickles to the stars. Pulled out some “Halloween” design paper that I have and made my card. The sentiment also comes from the Holiday Sweets I set.

H.U.G.

HUGajh

Time for another challenge with the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week our challenge hostess for the month Lois Bak has another fun challenge for us.

This week Lois has given us a Wordplay Challenge. In honor of “Hug a Greeting Card Writer Day,” include on your card something that starts with each of the following letters – H U G.

My H.U.G. is hiding, ugh and green, read on to see how that all fits into my card.

I decided to use Gnome What? that was just released from North Coast Creations.  Pulled out my prismacolored pencils and went to coloring. The plan was to color the mushrooms and cut them out completely which I did. But I needed an “U” so how about Ultra thick embossing and do some cracked glass? Sure! Well, I embossed it, stuck it in the freezer and worked on the gnome.

The gnome is also colored with prismacolored pencils. Added some clouds behind him and went and got the mushrooms. When I started cracking them, pieces of the UTEE actually started falling off!! Great now what am I gonna do? I ended up peeling most of it off so hence my UGH!

Mushrooms are popped up with dimensions so the gnome can hide behind them.

HUGajh

See, you can see the ultra thick embossing on the thin pieces that I just couldn’t get off! ugh

CCEE Challenge - Odd Day

elepantbday

It is Thursday so that means time for another CCEE Stampers challenge. This week Lois Bak continues to bring us fun challenges.

Today we are celebrating Odd Day (although I think we are a year late, but better late then never) – use an odd number of the same embellishment on your card (e.g., 3 brads, 5 pearls, etc.).

I used Fairy Special by Paper Pretties for my card. Colored with copics and added some stickles to the toe nails, wings and wand. My odd number of embellishment is 3 flower brads.

What Cancer Cannot Do

Well it is last week in August which means my month of hosting challenges for CCEE Stampers has come to an end. I decided to leave on a fun challenge…Technique challenge! (I know, I  can hear the groans from here but believe me, you’ll like this technique.)

Herringbone - A fun technique using up scraps of paper. Directions can be found over on Splitcoast Stampers.

I made the following card for the teacher my son had last year as she was diagnosed with cancer this summer. She is a strong lady but I hope this card still brings her some strength on those days she needs it. Love you, Emily. You’ve got this!

Sentiment comes from Verses Rubber Stamp. Used 3 different design paper scraps for the Herringbone and added a little bling in the corners.

Good Bye for now

goodbyeajhcopy

Time for another CCEE Stampers challenge. The challenge is a good bye card or sympathy card or farewell or….. Why?

Well as I am the hostess this month, my oldest leaves for college tonight! When I say leave, I mean all of us as it is an 8 hr trip so we are loading up the family tonight, driving all through the night to her new home till we see her at Christmas time!  Hence the challenge of a good bye card.

I had to use Message Pup as she will be leaving her baby, Keeper (a boxer), behind so really this card is from Keeper.  I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. Cut it out with Spellbinder oval and layered with Spellbinder scallop oval. Used border punch on bottom layer and added a bone eyelet over top of some twine. Of course I stamped “I miss you” instead of “good bye” as I couldn’t find the stamp that said it! ugh

Fair time challenge

pigshowing copy

Time for another CCEE Stampers challenge! And guess what? I’m the challenge hostess this month!!

The first week in August is my County Fair. So make a card having some object or animal that you would find at the fair. Extra points for using some green on the card as that is the color for 4-H. 4-H is a big part of our fair and the reason I’m there all week long. I was in it for 10 years and now my kids are in it with different projects.

My project today centers around my Cloverbud, my youngest. Each day the Cloverbuds take a tour of a different animal barn at the fair. She was so excited for Wend as that was the Pig Barn tour as she wants to take a pig next year! (She will be old enough next year to be a 4-Her) Of course I took pictures and made a digi scrapbook page! And yes, my background paper is green!

pigshowing copy

She loved “showing” the pig. Thought that was the best part of the tour and is now excited to have a pig next year. She even made a piggy bank using a 2 liter pop bottle with toilet paper rolls for legs for her projects to display at the fair this year. Used tissue paper all over it that was Mod Podged on.

My middle decided to sew this year in 4-H for her sister and got an honorable mention on the outfit!

My son shows llamas (our show is Thursday so as of writing this, I have no clue how he will do). But here are a few more pictures of our week at the fair.

I did enter my Key Lime Cupcakes and they took third place in their category.

These boots are made for walking

AmberGlittercopy

It is challenge time over at the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week Shirley Quarry, issues her last challenge as our July challenge hostess.

Our challenge this week is to create a card that is related to a song title.

I am really bad at these types of challenges as I draw a blank. For some reason first song to pop into my head was “These boots are made for walking”.

I used Paper pretties Howdy Girlfriend Sophia for my card. Did a little paper piecing with the image and used some star eyelets too.

    What’s Happening and Cake

    recipeovalcircleajh

Time for another CCEE Stampers challenge. Our challenge this week is a Recipe Challenge … Use 2 circles, 1 oval and two or more octagons (or hexagons/decagons) on your card.

I used this fun set from Paper Pretties and paired it with a chicken wire background stamp I have for my hexagons. My sentiment is in 1 oval (even though it killed me not to layer it!!). Colored image with prismacolor pencil and blended with odorless mineral spirits. Used a little watercolor paint for the sky.

    Ambersnodesignpaperajhcopy

It’s challenge time over at CCEE Stampers again. This week’s challenge is "Watch out for those chickens" - make a card that has a chicken theme.

I used Paper Pretties “one of those days”. Colored with prismacolored pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. Stamped sentiment below and added some bling.
