Nothin says lovin like somethin from the oven

And what might be coming from my oven these days? Well it was surprisingly easy and oh so yummy
I mixed one cake mix with one can of pumpkin and one bag of chocolate chips. I used a yellow cake mix but next time I think I'll try a spice or chocolate mix instead.

I dropped spoonfuls of the ooey gooey stuff on my ancient and well used cookie sheet and popped them in the oven for 14 minutes

I made them rather small so I think I got about 4 dozen but they sure are going fast. The best thing about a little cookie is you can eat two and not feel so guilty because they were only LITTLE cookies.
So where did I come up with this recipe. Well I found it on Julie's blog The Harwards. That links to the post that has this recipe and another one for some delicious looking cinnamon rolls. While you're there take a look around, not only will you enjoy the blog but you'll find that Julie is just the sweetest person.

Something from the oven

I got the urge to bake. Why I would want to do that at home when I bake 40 hours a week at work is beyond me but I did. Wade has a thing for shortbread cookies so I thought I would make him some.

I gathered my ingredients

Before you say it, I know, that's imitation vanilla. It's also super cheap dollar store vanilla. I can't help it, remember "thrifty".
I got out my ancient hand me down cookie press.

I haven't used this thing in ages. I'm sure one of the new fangled ones would be much easier to use but this one works.
And here are my cookies.

These did not last long at all. He had them eaten in no time.

Shortbread cookies
2 cups butter
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla (feel free to use REAL vanilla if you must...lol)
4 cups flour

Mix butter and sugar until creamy. Add vanilla. Slowly add flour. Put through cookie press. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Before I go I want to send a big THANK YOU and hugs to Audrey at Audrey's Country Crafts. I was checking out her blog earlier and what a surprise it was to see that she mentioned me as the blog of the week. What a sweetie she is.

Can you say YUMMMMMMY

I'm posting a little earlier than I usually do tonight so as not to lose track of time once again and try scrambling to get it done. Like I said yesterday, Amanda came over to make dinner for us. It was a casserole that's called Baked Penne and Smoked Sausage.

I took the lazy way out here. If you aren't able to read this and want the recipe let me know and I will type the whole thing out. She also rewrote it but it's on 2 sides of the paper so it would have required 2 pictures. But I do have a picture of the special note she left at the end.

I found this really amusing because it was her idea that I use this as a blog post. The reason I think it's funny is because my family has NEVER taken an interest in my blog what so ever.

Duke of course was right there to supervise. But of course any time Amanda comes over he's all over her.

This recipe really made him sit up and take notice.

And the finished meal. The verdict is, while it's not really Wade's kind of meal he did at least it eat. Me on the other hand, I went back for a second helping. I thought it was fantastic. I'm not just saying that because Amanda made it either.

Cleaning or lazy Saturday morning

It's all in how you look at things. You could say that I'm being lazy this morning and not being very productive. Or you could say that I'm working very hard at cleaning up my computer files. I prefer the second option. Some time ago I had a great idea to make a cookbook of sorts. I was going to take pictures of things I cooked or baked and then turn them into recipe cards. I got as far as 3 which doesn't make for a very good book. Anyway, I decided this morning to just delete them and if I ever decide to try the project again I'll just start from scratch. Before they go to the recycle bin I'll share them here just in case anyone is hungry for something sweet.

Cafe Mom Scrap Challenge Week 6

Another scrap challenge at cafe mom has ended. This weeks challenge was to do a recipe layout.

Here is Miawa's. My mouth was watering when I saw all those chocolate cookies. I just realized she even used my favorite color for the background, no wonder I liked this one so much....lol
Here is one by whiteprincess2k This one sounds so yummy. I may just have to try this one out. (I just want to know if she makes the soup, does she get to have a bowl with the guy?...lol)

And finally here is mine. I just love stir fry. I added a note to the cafe mom post that I don't know what the symbols stand for on the left hand side of my layout. So if I happened to have made any inappropriate statement with them I plead guilty by reason of ignorance....lol
It occured to me just now that I have posted my stir fry recipe in a previous post. Hmm guess I really do like it. I should have thought about that before I did my layout and used something else. Oh well, that's another layout.

Hungry?

I made one of my favorites for dinner tonight, stir fry. Being the camera junkie that I am I took a picture of my plate before I sat down to eat.

I found the recipe for this in a cheap dollar store book a couple years ago. The page has since had something spilled on it and then chewed by the dog, so I've had to just sort of wing it.
If you want to try it out and don't have a recipe of your own, here is mine.

Chicken stir fry
1 boneless skinless chicken breast
1 tbs. cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup vegetable oil
frozen stir fry vegetables

Heat oil in skillet on medium high heat. Add chicken and cook 2 minutes or until browned. Remove from skillet Add vegetable to skillet and cook till heated through (or until crisp-tender, whichever you prefer) Return chicken to pan. Combine cornstarch, water, chicken broth and soy sauce. Pour over vegetables and cook 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve over rice.

I realize that this post isn't exactly related to digital photography, editing or scrapbooking but I did throw in a picture. For a change I actually took a picture that really didn't need any adjusting. The only thing I did to this one is crop.
