Handmade

Ok, so they are not that great.. but they are made from scratch, totally original! Fimo beads.. first attempt. And made this little bracelet for Sarah... they might as well have been diamonds from Tiffany!  The "thank you Mummy", huge smile and big kiss were way more than I expected!
Aren't kids just wonderful!  I'm a very lucky person!

Beading! watch this space!

Ok so I haven't made any jewellery for ages for various reasons but now starting to think about it again (lots of online orders winging there way to me as I type!) and I'm excited to say that the Scottish Bead fair is on in August in Perth.  It's a great show and I'm looking forward to it for (I think) the 3rd or 4th time?!  Just need to save up the spending money! (isn't it amaazing how much it's possible to spend at these shows!) Hoping to make a weekend of it and enjoy either Perth or Pitlochry!

It's all too exciting! lol! Something to look forward to every month until Christmas! (which I can't believe is so close!)

Low hanging fruit

Just going to call this one "low hanging fruit" as the red beads made me think of cherries!
The beads are strung on 7 strand beadalon through a small belcher chain.

The set together

A better photo. I still need to get to grips with PhotoShop Elements. (maybe I should just read the instructions??)

Lariat, with green porcelain handpainted focal

To go with the earrings! This was the focal bead to match - probably should have made the necklace first then the earrings! This lariat style necklace is strung on .015 beadalon 7 strands (Bright). The little silver beads are Miyuki silver lined seed beads - size 11. Quite a quick wee make!

Ceramic Earrings

A quick make using longer length kidney wires. The beads are hand made and hand painted (not by me!) ceramic. I liked the bright green!

Beads

Hello! So much for me blogging every day! I just never seem to get time - although I've no excuse as I've been on holiday for a week! Thought I would try some beading again as it's been absolutely ages since made anything!
I found some gorgeous David Christiansen furnace glass beads that I got at a bead fair about 2 years ago so I thought I would have a go at a bracelet. I made the earrings just to match using some two tone lustre crystals in a very pale blue and lilac. The silver beads are sterling silver so really shiny!
Might go and make some more earrings now!

Some lucite flowers, seed beads and thread...

I love this and I can't believe how quick and easy it was to do. Now I think I might be hooked on making these! might try some bag and phone charms in a similar style!

Feeling blue!

Three strands of beads twisted together.

Update on progress (!) with the Miyuki kit

Ok... try not to laugh! I now realise that the reason the kit has a difficulty level of 4 out of 5 is because it's NOT EASY!!!
Did I under estimate the rating?? ... or over estimate my ability???
I've been trying Peyote stitch which, on paper, is as easy as... threading the needle!! The instructions are all translated to english so now I know a few very important pointers, including:

"Beading needle tends to bend, so be careful when handling it and KEEP IT OUT OF CHILDREN" (Wheeeww, thank goodness it warned me!!)

Also, "some materials have extra"... lets hope that applies to the beading thread!!

I'm not going to give up though... OH NO.. but I might wait until I've had a glass of wine before trying again.. who knows.. peyote stitch may just make sense to me!!

By the way.. peyote stitch was used by the Native Americans and the Ancient Egyptians.. I will do it!
