Salt - His Presence

It was my turn to set the challenge for the next fortnight at
SALT
I chose the theme 'His Presence'
you can read all about it HERE

This is my piece for the challenge,

I chose to use Joshua 1:5 for my inspiration

To Me God's Presence is Perfect

Because He is Always with me.

I have used the 'fleur de lis' to represent the Trinity

Father, Son & Spirit

the large number represents the days of the year

and the 24/7 ofcourse that means the hours of the day and the days of the week

Have a lookie at the SALT blog sometime this week or next and see what the other girls have come up with for this challenge,

also we are always encouraged by the beautiful ART that the people who join in make,

their links are in our side bar at the Main Blog

or why not play along with us this time, we'd love it if you did :)

Salt - Believe

The New Challenge at SALT went live tonight
Esther chose the theme of Believe
you can read all about it Here

This is not only the first time I've drawn a human figure,

it's also the first time I've ever Drawn Jesus,

(apart from my childhood days)

I love the way my children draw Jesus without any worries or concerns as to how people will look upon their image of Jesus.... To them It's Jesus no matter how their drawing comes out, because they have Jesus in their heart and on their mind while they draw Him

Well thats what I've done too

I have Jesus in my heart and on my mind

Because I believe :)

Salt - His Princess

The new challenge has been set at SALT
'His Princess'
you can read about it here
My inspiration for this challenge came from
1 Peter 1:4
and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade
- kept in heaven for you
When I think of what a Princess is, I always think of 'fairy tales' and so would my little miss
So this is an ATC I made for my little maiden, to put with her birthday present
she collects and makes ATC's, I Know how much she loves the stories of the many Princesses who are Saved by their knights in shining armour...
The Joy of This verse is that it is NO FAIRY TALE, it's a TRUE story of being Saved, of Being Loved, of Being Given the Very Best Inheritance...

Salt - Inspiring Women of Faith

The latest Challenge at Salt went live tonight
you can read about the challenge here
and while you are there, maybe you'd like to leave your name in the comments box for the RAK we have this week :)
So this is my piece.
My little miss G and I make and swap ATC's with one my niece's
She is a very Creative young lady she Sew's, Creates with Paper, is a wonderful Musician
and a really Beautiful Young Christian Woman - and one I think is Inspiring...
I wanted to Inspire her with the Wife of Noble Character in Prov 31
and that's where this portion of Scripture comes from
I love that Right there in Scripture,
it shows us that being Creative can be a noble thing
it shows us that being busy with your hands
is much more Beautiful than being Idle.
I also love that she Shines for God

Salt - Lent

the new challenge has been set at SALT
it is LENT
you can read about it HERE
oh boy was this a challenge and a half
not just for me, but for a few members of the Salt DT
for me it was because I don't practice Lent
as part of my faith.
but it's always good to have to ponder why you do and don't believe certain things,
and that's what my piece reflects.
I have used Matthew 6:1 for my interpretation on
Why I don't Practice 'Lent'
it would have been so much easier just to have not done this challenge,
but it's been a good thing, to have to learn about Lent
understand why others practice it
accept that it is important to them in their walk with God.
so it's been a great challenge for those reasons
and I hope you'll join in to this week.

Salt - God's Astounding Grace

I'm a little late with my SALT contribution this week
but it's here now :)
Kim set a Wonderful Challenge for us all for this fortnight
GRACE
you can read all about it HERE

For my piece

I used 1Cor 1:3 for my inspiration

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

This verse speaks to me about the gifts of Grace and Peace that God gives us,

so I really wanted to make a 'gift tag' as part of my expression,

the wings symbolise 'transformation'

the crown 'child of God',

the Flourish at the bottom 'my joy'

the key 'Freedom',

the G2 (two G's) is for 'GRACIOUS GOD'

This picture just shows the back of the Scrabble tile, I stamped it then used embossing powder in both black and Clear to give it a lovely finish.

supplies - manila tag, Distress Ink,Karen Owen Image, American Crafts Rub-on, ribbon, key, scrabble tile, PBS stamp from TSQ, embossing powder, computer journaling, chain and jumprings

Salt - There your heart will also be.

It was my turn to set the challenge for the next two weeks at
When I chose this theme the time of year came to mind
The Start of a New Yearand so many of us make New Years Resolutions
we look at the New Year as a sign of Change & a time to Grow.
In order to Change & Grow
We must Examine
So this weeks Challenge is perhaps a verse
that may help you to examine
Matthew 6:21
For where your Treasure is,there your Heart will also be.

Well this week I mentioned to a friend,

I've never done a canvas piece,

So decided that was what my Salt contribution would be

I loved it, and plan on making some more

This really is one of my all time favourite verses,

it's one you can't ignore

It's speaks Volumes in just a couple of lines

I've married this verse with this paper,

simply because the way the 'vine' pattern on it,

reminds me that Jesus is the vine (John 15:5)

so one glance at this piece my heart is full of praise

not only do I see the written text

asking where my heart is,

I also see the symbolic reminder of Jesus.

Salt - John 3:16

This fortnight at
Salt it's Esthers turn to set the challenge and she chose,
The verse John 3:16 'For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son, that whoever believed in him shall not perish but have everlasting life'

I really enjoyed this theme, immediately thought of a piece of religious icon art

so I found this one on google images, & printed it off,

I love the way the Baby Jesus has His hands open and inviting,

ready to give the perfect gift.

So after I printed off my image, I glued it onto another piece of card, added all the little dots, then using a lead pencil drew ontop of all the lines (giving a sort of embossed look)then I went over all of those lines with a black pigment pen. Next I cut around the shape, then using embossing powder I double embossed the paper image, so now I had a lovely shiney durable piece of embossed paper. Next step was to tape it to two layers of felt, which I then stitched on my sewing machine and trimmed. Sewed the ribbon onto the back at the top and bottom, and threaded the star onto the ribbon (the star is a Vintage Brass Star from a Military Uniform)

Anyway, make sure you pop on over to the SALT blog and see what the other girls have done with this Challenge, they are all so beautiful!

And we'd love to see what you create too :)

The newest challenge on
is set by Casey
We all love celebrating Christmas because it is a time for us to stop, remember and praise God for the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. HE IS the true meaning of Christmas.
Not presents, not parties, not decorations, etc. JUST JESUS!!!
I made another 'skinny' page for Georgia,
to reflect this theme
The words I have on my skinny are
Jesus, light of the world
Shine through the darkness bright as the day
Jesus light of the world
Shine in our hearts and show us the way tonight
Who is this Child in the manger?
Kings bow down and angels sing
The Lord of the universe has come here to save us
A precious offering
All the heavens above and the earth below
Are filled with the light of Your love
This is part of a song written by Mark Lee and the Music is by Third Day
the song is
Jesus,Light of the World
from Third Day's Christmas album
THIRD DAY
CHRISTMAS OFFERING

Salt - Light

This week at SALT
The theme Ruth has chosen is
LIGHT
It is mentioned so many times in the Bible,
and has many facets of meaning and symbolism.
I am the LIGHT of the World...
The people walking in darkness haveseen a great LIGHT ...
The LIGHT shines in the darkness, but thedarkness has not understood it...In the same way, let your LIGHT shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Once again I've headed to the Psalms, I'm starting to think it's my favourite book in the bible

So I've made this little 'gothic arch'

and I wanted my 'light' to be symbolised by this 'hanging lamp' the kind that would have had oil in it hanging from a ceiling, filling the room with the warmth and reasurance of light.

Isn't it amazing how a childs fear of the dark, can be eased simply by turning on the light...

Well that's been the same in my life really,

So many fears and hangups, eased simply by

'TURNING ON THE LIGHT'

Salt - Jesus is Lord

This week's theme at Salt is
JESUS IS LORD!
Kimberly chose this because this is the start of our journey with God, acknowledging Jesus as our Lord and becoming born again! The wonderful thing is that it is so easy to join God's kingdom! If you confess with your mouth, JESUS IS LORD and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with the heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with the mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10:9-10
This is my little piece, It's a 'Memory Glass' project
the size is 2x2"
When I saw Kimberly's choice of topic I immediately thought of 'Sunday School'
Such a Valuable ministry in our churches.
The verse from Proverbs 22:6 came to mind
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it"
so I have made this little treasure for my sweet friend who co-ordinates our churches Sunday School.
Supplies - Memory Glass Frame, Glass & Vintage Image available from
The Stamping Queen,
computer journaling, page from old dictionary, American Crafts Minimarks Rub-on, and lace.
We'd love to have you come and join us at SALT

Salt - Creation

Kim S set this weeks challenge at SALT
CreationWe see God's sovereignty in His creation each and every day, from the beauty of nature to the miracle of birth. God has lovingly and mercifully created all that we see, hear, smell, touch, and feel, to bring glory to Himself and to bless His children."For thus says the Lord,
Who created the heavens,
Who is God.
Who formed the earth and made it,
Who has established it.
Who did not create it in vain
Who formed it to be inhabited
I am the Lord and there is no other."
-Isaiah 45:18
Loved this challenge Kim, I used a song from a
Rebecca St James CD 'Transform'
the song I chose was 'in me'
the journaling on my card reads
You said the words, And made the heavens, You breathed the stars, And put their place in the sky, You waved Your hand, Painted a sunset, You smiled and gave a heartbeat life,
Crazy to think that Your holy hands made everything I see
It's so hard to believe
That You the God of creation say
I've got this power in me
There is strength to move a mountain
In me
If I just believe.
a thought from me
Anyone can believe,
it's what you do with your belief that makes the difference!

SALT - God's Promises

It's my turn to set the challenge this week at
so I picked
God's Promises.
So many times we are guilty of breaking promises,
or have been on the other end of a broken promise,
but what a wonderful blessing to know
that when God makes a promise it's steadfast.

I picked this verse, because I am a 'loner' a 'happy in my own company type of girl' and made this little pencil holder so this promise from God is on my desk right in front of me, to remind me about spending time with God's people, too often I hide from the world happy spending time at home doing my own thing, and because of this I often miss the blessing of being apart of God's family, and as an encouragement to myself, I picked this verse to remind me that when I am in the presence of God's family I am also in the presence of God.

Oh that was deep...are you still with me..

That circle bit in the middle is a piece from an old belt, you know the macrame type with discs in between the thread, anyway I pulled it apart and sealed some words on, then I embossed it with embossing powder, and sealed it some more, the rest is pretty easy to see what I've done, I do like the look of the beading wire wrapped around like that, I think that might be my new thing, anyway... please note! no sewing machine... an no it didn't hurt! lol!

So Come Join us at Salt this week

Salt Challenge - Water

'WATER' is the challenge Esther has picked for the next 2 weeks at SALT
Water is such an important element in our lives, we can't live without it, just like our Lord and Saviour! It appears in so many places in the Bible, more than we realise.

This is my take on the Challenge, I created this little badge and a little tin to keep it in. the badge is 1" in diam to give you an idea of the size of theproject :O)
the badge is a made using the bible verse Psalm 1:1-3.

I want to be a tree who's leaf does not wither!

make sure you check out Salt and see what other ways the DT girls have interpreted this challenge, and keep an eye on what other people create too...

We'd love to have you join in the fun So come Join us.......

Salt - Life to the Full

This week at SALT it's Casey to set the challenge
the theme she has chosen is "Life to the Full."
This theme comes from the verse John 10:10b where Jesus says that He has come so we may have life and have it to the full (or in abundance)!

ok..for my piece, I looked up a couple of translations, and felt the 'message' version jumped out at me so that's what I went with, "I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of".

I'm so excited to be part of this fabulous group of ladies Lythan has pulled together, this is our second challenge at Salt, & we hope you'll come and Join us!

also, I've been missing in action a bit in blog land because after Georgia became sick, we all fell like a pack of cards, each of us in our family of 5 have all been quite sick and are still recovering... I'm off on retreat tomorrow afternoon for the weekend so am hoping to be much better for that, could really do with a weekend of Scrapping :O)

so I'll catch you all when I get back, have a wonderful weekend whatever you plan to do, and after our week, I wish you all GOOD HEALTH!!!

SALT - Praise

Finally I can tell You!!!!!!
is a new creative arts challenge blog.
We are a diverse group of card makers, scrappers and altered art fans from across the world who have been brought together through our love of Jesus Christ and our desire to express our faith in creative ways.
Once every two weeks we will produce work based on a challenge which we hope will inspire you to produce work of your own - and we would love to see it.So that we can all know Jesus more clearly; love him more dearly; and follow him more nearly, each and every day.

The first challenge is given by Lythan. It's ...
Praise.
Express your praise to God in whatever way you choose.Praise is such a wonderful word. We give praise to people - especially children when they have done something that makes us proud and pleases us. We give praise to God because he has done everything for us and we are proud to be his children.I think the team have come up with the most amazing selection of delights, especially considering this is our first go! You can find out more details about how, why and what we have made by visiting our individual blogs.
We would love to see your work too - a card, a layout, a canvas, a mini book... there are so many ways to praise. And if you link your blog here then we can visit and praise you too!
I'll have to come back shortly and add the details of my first 6x6"LO for my new SALT album
So come Join Us
