Retro Rubber Blog Challenge #227 - Colour Challenge..

Hey,

Welcome to another fun Retro Rubber challenge.

This time we have a fun colour challenge for you.

I loved working with these colours.

I saw an idea by Susie Moore using the set by Pink Fresh Studio 'Birds & Bows' that I have had since 2018. So I thought I would CASE it. Mine is a bit different as I stuck to the colour palette for the challenge and I used less bows!

I added a cake from Ellen Hutson's 'Wish Big' set - another one from 2018. The sentiment is by Mama Elephant from 'Mixed Birthday Sentiments'.

I love how it came out and it was fun to CASE a card.

Show us your interpretation of the sketch and pop over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things the DT have made.

Challenge ends April 5th.

Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

Retro Rubber Challenge #174 - Can you dig it? 50s colours

 Hey,

Welcome to the first Retro Rubber challenge of 2022 - YAY! I hope you had a wonderful break and brought your mojo into 2022, so we can have some creative fun.

Also, the RR team is sending a warm welcome Heather Heroldt to our team - WHOOP!! Heather is super talented and has been a big supporter of RR, can't wait to see what she creates as a DT member.

This time we have 50's colours for you!

I love these colours and you know I am a huge fan of creating cloud backgrounds. Perfect for my card here, as I just cut this amazing bunny by The Cats Pajama's (Bunnies in Flight I have had it since 2017) using my BSNC and it all just worked so well.

Show us how the colours inspired you and pop over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things the DT have made.

Challenge ends January 28th.

Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

Retro Rubber Challenge #143 Colour Me...

Hey,

Can you believe it's already September?!

Time for another awesome Retro Rubber challenge.

This time we have a colour challenge for you, use only yellow and green.

I thought it would be fun to pull out a set that I really haven't used very much and I have had it since 2018, it has been thoroughly neglected - Avery Elle Balloons & Banners.

I stamped my banner and balloons using Altenew inks - Sweet Leaf and Maple Yellow. I love their inks, they stamp SO well. I am slowly buying them when they have deals on :)

As I was putting it together with the pretty polka dot Lawn Fawn paper, I thought it was a teeny bit dull. So I was going to add my default Monster to jazz it up and then I thought how about an actually 'green' creature and went with the fun Croc from the Heffy Doodle Happy Snappy Crocs set (I've had this since 2017).

The end result made me smile a lot! I love a card with a happy Critter!

How will you use the colours? Be sure to pop over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things the DT have made.

Challenge ends September 18th.

Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

Colourful Challenge Combo part two..

Hey,

Happy Friday.

I will be glad to see the back of this week, having been so unwell..

I stumbled across another great challenge this week that involves colours, so I decided to play along and combine it with the current CASology challenge for a second entry.

AAA Cards do CAS challenges with a twist. This week this is what they have -

I love the idea of using just 1/3 of the card front to create a fun card.

I decided that I wanted to use repeat stamping to create a bold mini pattern. I used a coffee mug from the Pink Fresh Studio 'Itty Bitty Elements' set - a fave for creating backgrounds.

I coloured it in bright colours using Copics and added a simple sentiment by Waffle Flower from their 'Books and Coffee' set.

I die-cut the white panel using a stitched rectangle die and mounted it onto my card blank.

I love the simple feel of this, it will be great to accompany a gift card!

Colourful Challenge Combo..

Hey,

I have been rather unwell this week - AGAIN!! This time it has been diagnosed as strep - ugh.

So to cheer myself up I thought I'd try and make a card for both the Global Design Project and CASology challenges, which I thought would go together really well.

I really liked the idea of combining these two colour challenges.

I decided I would use the Avery Elle Peacock stamp - it is a fave of mine, because I think it is super versatile. I stamped and coloured it using my Copics and a Promarker for the Grape :)

Then I die-cut it out and added a touch of Nuvo Aqua Shimmer.

I then created a heart mask - I create these by keeping all the inserts from stamp sets and then I die-cut shapes out of them, creating the mask. Means you have a lot of cover, so you don't get ink on the rest of the card. I used the mask hanging slightly off the edge of my white panel and blended distress oxide Fosilized Amber into the heart shape.

I die-cut the white panel using a stitched rectangle die and mounted it onto a white card blank.

The sentiment is by Market Street Stamps (no longer in business) and I stamped it in a coordinating grape coloured ink, added my colourful Peacock and voila! Finished card.

Love how the card combines both challenges so nicely and I do love a slightly unusual Anniversary card.

The Paper Players: Colour Challenge..

Hey,

One of the reasons I like challenges so much, is that they give me the opportunity to use my stash in ways I wouldn't have considered without a little prompt / inspiration.

The Paper Players challenge is one of my faves and this week does not disappoint -

I had an idea how to use the colours, forming in my mind.. and so that it would work with minimal effort, I tried something I have not done before.

I stamped the MFT + Pure Innocence Girl (now retired) onto two white panels. I coloured one using promarkers and spectrum noir sparkle pens. I applied Cracked Pistachio distress ink through my fave ancient (and most overused item in my craft room) The Crafters Workshop stencil.

I die-cut the coloured girl and popped her up using foam tape, covering over the girl that I had stenciled over. GENIUS..It meant that there was no masking needed and the dots are coming from behind the girl perfectly.

I know that I could have just stenciled the background, but I wanted the girl in a specific place, so that I could fit the sentiment on and not cut off too many of the stenciled dots, when I was die-cutting the panel to size.

I'll be doing this again!

I used a sentiment from the set, as this card is going to a friend to say thank you for an unexpected gift she sent me.

Double Challenge: You are so Awesome...

Hey,

Happy Monday.

I was lucky enough to get an honourable mention for two of my cards over at CAS(E) This Sketch and The Paper Players.

How awesome is that?

I was going to play along with both challenges anyway and then JT's card inspired me by combining them.

This week The Paper Players have a colour challenge for us -

And here is the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch -

I needed to make a leaving card for a friend and colleague and thought this would be a great way to nail that project!

I rotated the sketch, as I thought it would work better for the idea I had in mind. I've had the Neat & Tangled 'Awesome' set on my desk all weekend, I've been itching to use it!

I pulled out papers from my stash that matched the colours for Paper Players, I thought I'd use a spotty piece for a bit of interest.

The awesome die matches the set from Neat & Tangled and I totally over use it!

I love the simple, bright and cheerful end result and I think the (rather picky) recipient will love it too.

CAS Colours & Sketches: Creative..not messy..

Hey,

Happy Monday to you!

It was an early start for me today..7am PT session in the gym - blurgh!

I loved the colours over at CAS Colours and Sketches this time -

I actually have a few Stampin' Up inks and one of the colours I have is Flirty Flamingo, so that was fun to be able to use that. The other two colours are by Tsukineko.

I have recently bought a few things from a newish company called The Ink Road, I love the simplicity of their stamps and the set I used here 'Full Circle' is totally a new fave.

Keeping my card super CAS, I  randomly stamped the circles in the 3 colours around the sentiment, in the bottom 2/3rds of the card. The sentiment also comes with the set and made me smile.

I thought this would make a bit of an unusual thank you for a fellow crafter, so it will be leaving my desk later today.

Retro Rubber Challenge #63...Photo Colour Inspiration...

Hey,

Time for another awesome challenge with the Retro Rubber team.

This time, we have a colour challenge for you, use the photo for colour inspiration..

I picked out the grey, yellow and turquoise from the image and used these three colours to inspire my card.

I went nautical because the awesome digital boat stamps were already on my desk uncoloured. They are by Pink Petticoat and are part of the Beach Cottage set and I have had them since 2013.

I die-cut my panel using a MFT wonky stitched die first, so I could see where the waves should go.

I used a fave Simon Says Stamp set called Sailing from 2015 for the waves and the stars. I stamped both in the three colours from the image.

The boat I coloured using Promarkers and then fussy cut it out (despite hating fussy cutting I seem to do a lot of it..)

Final touch was to add the sentiment, which came with the digital stamps, I affixed it to my card using a tiny staple.

I love this card, the colours make me so happy. I recently acquired a penpal (LONG story) and so I think this will be going to her

I hope you are going to show us what you can do with the colours and pop over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things my teammates have made..

Challenge ends June 2nd. Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun (and our rules) of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

Throwing down some bright colours...

Hey,

I had a fun day hanging out with the craftgang at Jamey's studio today.

As usual I ate too much, but I had a very productive day, more about that next week.

Tonight I am entering the latest Color Throwdown challenge -

I fell in love with the super cheery and bright colours.

I decided it would be fun to use the great watercolour brushstrokes background stamp by Stampin' Up to create my focal point.

I recreated the colours using Distress Inks - Barn Door, Carved Pumpkin and Mustard Seed. I die-cut the awesome (by Frantic Stamper) out of a piece of purple cardstock.

Once I had positioned the awesome die-cut in place, I stamped 'Hey Friend' (by Impression Obsession).

As I am OBSESSED with Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets right now I added a couple to my card.

It's going in the post to a friend tomorrow.

Just Add Ink: Colours..

Hey,

Happy Monday.

Today I am playing along with the Just Add Ink colour challenge -
I thought the colours would be great for a baby card.

I am a little bit addicted right now to using the Neat and Tangled Skunk for baby cards..

I stenciled some Turquoise ink onto my white panel using a Tim Holtz grid stencil and then added the pink spotty washi tape and a scrap of grey paper. Then I ran the whole piece through the Big Shot using a Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle die.

I coloured (Zigs) and cut the Skunk out, as always using artistic license with the colour...

The Skunk is popped up using foam tape and the sentiment is by Simon Says Stamp.

I am loving the Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets right now and so added a few here for a bit of interest.

I am really happy, such a sweet card, I love making baby cards.
