2024 Hops: Mini Hops

Hey,

This is the 3rd post in my 2024 hop series.

Kelly Santi organises all of the hops. This year I have done 6 hops with Kelly and the gang -
  • Ring in the New Year
  • Spring Hop
  • Sunshine Awareness mini hop
  • Shark Week 2024 mini hop
  • Summer Soiree
  • Fall Friends

In this post I am showing the cards from the 2 mini hops we did.

My main card is from the Sunshine Awareness hop in May - basically highlighting the risks of being in the sun without protection. Skin cancer from sun damage is sadly on the rise. I used an all-time fave stamp by Unity Stamp Co and wrote my own sentiment.

The next card, probably doesn't need explaining, but it was for the Shark Week hop, as a fan of Sharks, I love Shark Week in the cardmaking world, as I get to use all my fave Shark stamps! This one is 'Seaprise' by Avery Elle.

Both fun cards and it's always nice to do a hop that raises awareness about something.

Did Somebody say Cake?..

Hey,

Happy Monday.

I hope you had a good weekend? I spent mine having a Zoom call with the craftgang, doing more of the Spring Card Camp over at Online Card Classes and doing a ton of digital scrapping. Busy! I also managed to watch a few films with Hubby and Clint.

I made today's cheery card a few weeks ago, partly because I wanted to play with the great 'Swell' background stamp by Avery Elle that I got from a AE grab bag last year.

I thought it would pair well with the shark from their 'Sea-prise' set.

I stamped the background and cut a circle out of the centre, so I could house the shark. I went backwards and forwards on what background should go in the centre. ugh. Eventually I settled on the scrap of Lawn Fawn spotty paper.

Because my whole life is about cake during this lockdown, I thought my shark would be popping up looking for a piece of cake!

It all came together really well and I believe the recipient loved it!

Duh-nuh...

Hey,

Happy Monday!

I had a great weekend, hanging with Hubby, as I am semi-housebound due to the crutches and the boot!

I LOVE pun cards and I had this fun idea to make a pun card from every punny set I have for a friend.

I have been cracking myself up with some of these cards.

I am in love with today's card.

It's actually a CASE of Kelly-Marie from Lawn Fawn's card.

I thought it was so clever, the way she made the 'card' in a frame and it gave me an excuse to break out my We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board.

I started my version of the card, by creating the sea, using the MFT 'Make Waves' stencil - I am super pleased with my sea, it is perfection and I am so happy to have finally mastered this stencil (big shout out to Jen at Newtons Nook for her tutorial..).

I blended more blue ink to the top part of the sea panel and then heat embossed my clouds in. The clouds stamp is from the Clearly Besotted 'Trouble in a TuTu' set and I had never used the clouds until I made this card!

This version is no longer available
I stamped, coloured and die-cut the Shark, Fish and Fin from the Lawn Fawn 'Duh-nuh' set and using the great Ocean Wave Accents dies, I added them to my frame.

Final touches were to stamp the sentiments, mount onto a card blank and add washi tape and a sequin.

LOVE this card, I'll be making it again.

CASE: Shark Birthday...

Happy Friday!!!

Obviously I am SUPER happy today, as it is the first day of my Summer vacation!

Hubby and I arrive in Tampa later on today and our bestie / wife joins us from London on Monday for the rest of the week. We have rented a house with a pool, so cue mucho lounging, pool party action.

What better way to celebrate vacay than with a Shark card?

I love the Avery Elle Sea-Prise set and CASE'd one of the DT cards that they made to signal the new release a few months back -

I die-cut my aperture using a MFT stitched oval die. I coloured and die-cut my shark and recreated the 'sea' by using corrugated card.

I love the 'Hope your birthday is swell' sentiment, but as this card was going to a little boy in the UK, I didn't think he would be familiar with it, so played it safe with Happy Birthday.

The banner die is by Simon Says Stamp and I have had it forever and it's the only banner die I own surprisingly!

Fun CASE, I love it, I'm gonna make a few more I think.

Have a great weekend..if you need me I'll be by my pool!

Word!

Ha ha ha

Happy Friday!

As it's Friday I think it's totally the right time for some silliness..

During my Sunday playdate with JT I found a pre-printed shark from a batch I'd made a while back.

I die cut him using a MFT stitched rectangle die, added googly eyes and then consulted JT on the sentiment.

We agreed it should be something from a fun set that I got us both in the Michael's Black Friday sale, from the Creative Chaos Recollections range.so cheap..

We settled on Word..

Because of course that's what a Shark would say...

Ha ha ha..

I love Sharks, here is a photo I took at the Lisbon Aquarium on my PHONE!! - no filters..

Have a great weekend everyone.

I'm hoping not to get snowed in again..

Challenging kids

I wanted to enter a couple of challenges this week and yesterday I realised the week is almost over!! I think it's because I'm working on kids cards for an order and it's tough because of the age groups, so that's where my focus has been..

Anyway, I've mangaged to figure out a plan for most of the kids cards and for the challenges I've settled on -

Mojo Monday - #281 - and here is the sketch -
Kenny K - #131 Going Round in Circles

My entry is the main photo today. It's a good match to the sketch and it's a bit fun. I think I might send it to my friend in Hawaii!! I like the circle paper - which is by Pink Petticoat. The stamp is one of the ones that I won in a Kenny K challenge. The ribbon was a gift from JT and it's amazing, the pale pink parts are textured. I am loving the flower punch, embossing thingy too! It makes superb flowers. This card was fun to make, although colouring the teeny tiny stamp was a bit tough..

WOYWW yesterday was fun as always and I got asked if I would show a better pic of the shark card. So here he is along with his friend Mr T-Rex!!
