Retro Rubber Challenge #54...Let it Snow..
Hey,
Time for another awesome Retro Rubber challenge.
This time we want you to use snow on your card -
I am not a big fan of snow, living in NYC it can be a bit much for this Londoner... But I do like making pretty snow based cards :)
I learnt this awesome technique in Cheiron's holiday class last year.
Basically you blend together your inks, starting with the light one and work up to a darker colour. Then flick your blended paper with water and lay a paper towel over it - voila! Instant snow effect - ah.mazing!!
I love it and have totally been over using this lately..
Once I had my background I dug out two stamp sets by Simon Says Stamp (Hand Lettered Wishes from 2015 and Cute Snowflakes from Jan 2016 - both from SSS cardkits ).
I stamped the sentiment in Navy Blue and the snowflakes and flourishes in Grey. I wish I had considered stamping snowflakes in Grey before!! They look so much better.
I added a couple of teeny bits of bling to finish it all off.
I love the Wintry feel of my card.
Your turn to get your snow on, but first go over to Retro Rubber and see what my awesome teammates have been making.
Challenge ends on January 27th don't forget to tell us how old your stamp is, that is half the fun :) And please limit your challenge entries to 10 including ours.

Jenn Shurkus' Coolest Card Series..
Hey,
A late post from me today.
As I am waiting to watch the Pro-bowl, I thought I'd play along with Jenn's Coolest Card series..
There were three weeks, all had to be snow themed + something else that was announced each week..
Week 1 - Stencils and Paper Smooches. This week you had to make a card that was snow themed AND used stencils.
I used Lawn Fawn Winter Fox stamps and dies. The snow was made using Lawn Fawn stitched hillside borders, I added a bit of stickles to the curve to make it more snow like.
I had a freebie snowflake stencil that I have never used..which turned out to be perfect for here.
I added a Simon Says Stamp sentiment as the finishing touch.
Week 2 - Watercolours and My Favorite Things. This week make a card that is snow themed AND used watercolours.
I decided to go with a resist here, I stamped my Sizzix snowflakes using clear versamark ink and white embossing powder. I heat embossed it and then watercoloured over the top. I love the splodges you get. I used a MFT stitched die to die cut my watercolour piece out and then stamped a Simon Says Stamp sentiment onto a darker blue panel. I added a blue doily for a bit of texture.
I love this card, it feels like being out in the snow!
Week 3 - Valentine Colours and Lawn Fawn. This week make a card that is snow themed AND uses Valentine colours.
This is the main photo today.
I used one of my fave Lawn Fawn sets here - Yeti, Set, Go. I thought a pink Yeti made sense..after all there must be a Ms / Mrs Yeti right? Once again I utilised my Lawn Fawn stitched hillside border die and keeping with the colour scheme I stamped pink snowflakes..
Finished off with a sentiment sticker by Crate Paper.
What a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
I'm also pretty excited that Kathy Rac over at The Daily Marker is starting her latest 30 Day Colouring Challenge tomorrow - whoop whoop!

WOYWW #244...Hello Beautiful!
Hey there,
Happy WOYWW from Snowy NYC...meh! So OVER snow..
Don't know what WOYWW is? Well pop on over to Stamping Ground and join our wonderful hostess Julia for the weekly global desk nose.
So what can you see on my desk this week...well that LARGE thing of beauty is my shiny new TechBaby, an All-in-One computer - no need for a tower, it has all the gubbins neatly inside and its a touchscreen - YUMS. It is a congratulations on your new job present from me to me :) As a nice twist / treat you can see me taking the photo in the screen!
You can also see a big bag of hearts (Valentine's cards), glasses, pens, tweezers, there are various (hidden) cards in progress, some DT makes and some for challenges, my notebook is there - I keep all craft related notes in there, I love a notebook. My notepad is on my desk too, along with a letter from my Grandma.
Obviously my desk had to be re-arranged to fit in the new tech baby, so a few things have been relocated around the room..but the Promarker storage remains!
Finally before I go off to have a nose, here is a photo of a card I made over the weekend for my Brother in Law..he loves a pun! The camera and the wording - except Birthday - were cut with the Silhouette.

Snowy Sunday
So yesterday was a snow filled day, it snowed over night and didn't stop all day. Which to me meant that I had the perfect excuse to stay home, bake and craft!
The main photo today is the view of my street from the craft room - brrr.
Following Mexican night on Friday (see Facebook for the embarrassing photos) we had quite a lot of defrosted raspberries left over. So I went in search of a recipe to use them and came up with this Raspberry Bakewell cake - yum!
It's really easy to make and here is a photo of my finished cake..
It tastes as good as it looks :) and I will be making it again.
I also started a new project today, I've been nosying around blogs this week and discovered there are a lot of people creating mini journals based on an idea called Project Life. I don't really get scrapbooking, but thought that making a mini journal for 2013 might be fun and as I am about to be a 'lady of leisure' it should keep me out of mischief..
I'll show you how I've been putting the journal together later in the week, but for now here is a photo of the back garden on snowy Sunday.
