Retro Rubber Blog Challenge - #196 - Tic Tac Toe...

Hey,

Welcome to another awesome Retro Rubber challenge - the penultimate one of 2022! That went fast!

We have a fun tic tac toe board for you this time.

Tic tac toe boards are so much fun! I went with the first vertical row - Orange/Pens/Pattern Paper.

How cute is my sledding Yeti!? I love this stamp set 'Baby It's Cold Outside' by Evelin T Designs... sadly I have had it since Sept 2021 and despite cutting him with Big Sexy (Brother Scan n Cut) he has never ever been inked!!

I recently sold all my Copic markers, as I decided I preferred Altenew's markers and that is what I used to colour him, along with my fave Sakura Gelly Roll Starburst pens, that add a ton of shimmer.

I added some glittery snow paste through a Clearly Besotted stencil (snow day) for a bit of additional interest and created the hill using a Lawn Fawn 'Stitched Hillside'. The stripey paper is actually from a Halloween kit!

I love it and he is actually going into my 2023 Christmas card stash..

I can't wait to see which row you choose! Be sure to pop over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things the DT have made.

Challenge ends December 2nd.

Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

Retro Rubber Challenge #157 Time to get your Sketch on...

Hey,

Welcome to another fun Retro Rubber challenge.

We have a sketch for you this time, created by me!

You know how much I love a sketch!

I actually can't provide a link to the stamp I used here, as it was a free gift from a Mama Elephant event in 2016 and I couldn't actually make it and my friend Lisette gave me hers, as she knows how much I love a monster!

I love this stencil cloud technique (stencil is by MFT and I have it in both sizes) - it is getting some serious overuse LOL.

Here I stamped and masked my Yeti - I am a big fan of masking and then I blended the clouds in. I decided at the last minute to add the stars and little birds, but it worked out fine. The sketch is so simple I just used little scraps of patterned paper and an enamel dot to complete my card.

I'm crushing on this card a teeny bit!

Show us your interpretation of the sketch and pop over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things the DT have made.

Challenge ends May 7th

Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

MFT Creative Olympics 2018: Event 1..stamping slalom..

Hey,

I saw on Instagram that MFT are celebrating the Winter Olympics with their own version -

I thought it would be fun to play along.

The first 'event' is called Stamping Slalom, this is 100% a creativity test, use x3 MFT sets on your card.

I misread that part initially, but I got there in the end!

First I created my background by smooshing my paper into distress inks that had been spritzed with water. I added some Glitter Snow paste through a stencil for the snowy effect. I repeated both of these steps with the bottom sentiment panel.

I cut the 'snowy hills' using a Lawn Fawn stitched hillside die. I added a white panel too, as the polar bear was getting a bit lost.

I am pretty pleased with my creativity here, I used Beast Friends (Yeti), Polar Bear Pals (Polar Bear) and Happy Hippos (Balloons). To me it feels like the Yeti is watching his Polar Bear buddy skate...but that's just my opinion..
I coloured all of these elements using Promarkers and Spectrum Noir glitter pens.

The sentiment is a mix of Simon Says Stamp and a freebie hand lettering alpha set I got. I didn't have a scripty 'fun' in my stash, so I created the one you can see on my card using the letters from the alpha set. It is so easy..I am now slightly reconsidering my desire to learn to hand letter..if I can cheat this well...

I'm super happy with my card. I'll be back with my Event 2 card tomorrow.

Retro Rubber Challenge #74.. Sketch time..

Hey,

Welcome to another fantastic Retro Rubber challenge.

This theme is one of my faves..I do love a sketch!

I was stuck for a while, I tried a few things and then decided on a Yeti in Palm Fronds. Yes it is official I have gone mad!! Yeti's live in the cold!!

Anyway, I blended the background on Tim Holtz woodgrain watercolour paper, I love this paper, this is my fave look, when you lay a baby wipe down and pat it a bit, you kind of get snow?

Then I die-cut the finished panel to size and then added the handcut triangles.

I popped my stamped, cut, coloured Yeti under one of the 'Fronds' and then stamped the sentiment, I love this stamp set, it is by Lawn Fawn and I've had it since 2014. It was my first Yeti stamp and I use it a lot.

I love the end result, he's a bit weird and that's ok.

Check out what my awesome teammates have made over at Retro Rubber and show us your interpretation of the sketch.

Don't forget to use a stamp older than a year on your project and tell us all about it, that is a big part of the Retro Rubber fun. Also please feel free to combine our challenge with others, but keep it to a maximum of 10 challenges including ours.

Challenge ends on October 24th.

Yeti in the City...

Hey,

Happy Monday.

I was a bit upset that I was going to miss the Mama Elephant Anniversary party - with Kathy Rac there (sobs at desk)..

I was even more upset when I saw the Anniversary party only exclusive set 'Yeti in the City' - I mean are you kidding me?! How me is this set!!

Fortunately for me Lisette came to the rescue and gifted me her set (Lisette thank you again, you rock).

So here is he in his glory, all inked up and coloured.

I LOVE him.

CASology: Cold...

Hey,

Happy Friday!

Gotta love a short week...

I am super happy to be back playing along with the first CASology challenge of 2017.

The cue card this week is -

I have SO many stamps that would fit this word.

I decided to use my all time fave Lawn Fawn 'Yeti, Set Go' set and combined him with a Poppy Stamps tree die.

The sentiment comes in one block, so for my idea to work, the Misti, my new Jonas tape dispenser ($3.99 at Home Goods..yay!) and I had to do some serious masking, SO worth it.

In my head Yeti's are HUGE, so it was only fitting that my Yeti was behind the trees and a teeny bit taller than them!

I popped the trees up using foam pads and added some Stickles to the panel for a bit of shimmer. I decided at the last minute to add a couple of snowflake stamps and I am glad I did.

This card keeps making me laugh when I catch a glimpse of him on my desk..I love it when an idea tickles me continuously.
