Cloudberry

Vi bruker å si at hvis rogna har mye bær, så blir det lite snø.
Har den lite bær, blir det mye snø. Dette pga at rogna ikke skal bære tungt to ganger på rad.

I fjor hadde vi mye rognebær, og vi fikk lite snø. Vel, hva som regnes som lite snø kan vel diskuteres, men mye er i allefall når vi ikke ser bilene som kjører forbi pga brøytekantene... Og som en kan se på rogna i år - ikke et eneste bær. Så det blir spennende å se hvor mye snø vi får...

We have a saying here in north of Norway which goes like this.

Little rowanberries = lots of snow.
Because the rowan should not carry a heavy load twice in a row.

Last year we had lots and lots of rowan berries, and we got little snow. Well little can be questionable, but a lot is when we can't see the cars driving past the house due to the hugh snowedge... And as you can see from the tree - not a single berry this year. I wonder how much snow we'll get...

And our outdoor blog got featured at Imagine childhood the other day :)

Endre needed new socks, and since he also has started kindergarden I have to knit several pairs.
So # 10 and 11 in the 52ppiii was a rather fast knit ;) Eirin also need a new pair, so I might be able to catch up by the end of September - I hope...


Pattern: simple k2, p2 - 52 st.
Yarn: Pair #10 is knitted with leftovers from Kieler Sprotte and #11 with leftovers from Erlend's k2, p1 socks.
Needles: 2,5 mm.

We are back to normal after the summer. Erlend & Eirin started school again on Wednesday. It was a bit hard to get up 6.15 in the morning again... But the kids falls asleep earlier too, so that means we have some more adult time in the nights :) Endre had his first day in kindergarden on Monday. It has been some tears, but he really like to play with the other kids. He will just be in kindergarden three days a week, so we still have some days with just him and me. I on the other hand just don't know what to do all alone at home *lol*

I just love all the socks in Socken aus aller Welt by Stephanie van der Linden, but had to start with a simple pair. My german is not what it was... and we don't learn knitting terms at school either.

Pair #8 is done - a pair of Nutkin's. I'm feeling very behind on this sock knitting *sigh*
But I need to knit up a few pair for Endre & Eirin, so I might catch up by the end of the month. Some (like Pinneguri, Irenesol, Mariannan, Bittami and Wims) have knitted over 20 pairs already...

We drove to Tromsø on Saturday, and went to Polaria. Great fun for the kids :)

I tried to get some good pictures of the seals (and the kids), but they didn't stand still ;) Even though it's great to be able to see these beautiful animals up close, I don't think they have a good time in this pool. The three of them just kept swimming round and round in circles...

I got a wonderful package from Claire today. I've been in a swap at Ravelry called Don’t be pea green with envy and as you can see I got a lot of great green stuff! (click on the pic to get it larger) There are cotton yarn, silk bamboo, some funfur and a beautiful handspun skein. I also got needles, stitch markers, a table cloth, tea , candles & candle holder, notepad and Hello Kitty pens and note book - which Eirin grabbed right away ;)


The handspun yarn is so beautiful! I think I will knit up a pair of mittens to myself with it :)


And I love the table cloth - just wish I had curtains that matched ;)

It's been quiet in here for some weeks and it's all because of summer! We are not used to great summer weather here in the north of Norway, so when we get three weeks with temperatures above 22 C, we have to make the most of it :) So there has not been very much knitting around here, but I have had my Vinterblomst mittens with me out and knitted a row now and then. So there's only one thumb left to knit now.


Some days have been just too hot, but the kids have had some wonderful weeks. Running in and out the house in barefeet, playing in the tent, having icecream...


... and even went bathing in the mountain lake. That's summer!


And there's a lot of berries in the forest this year. The bogs are full of cloudberries :)


The forest is full of bilberries.


And I got some sweet strawberries from hubbys dad, so we have lots of jam in the freezer :)
