Pastel Fussy Cut Striped Card

Hello! I am back on the Blank Page Muse Blog with this card. The stamps I used on this card are the BPM Beyond the Border Mixed Media Set 1 clear stamps and the BPM Happy Birthday Phrase rubber stamp

Instead of using foam strips on this card, to add dimension to the fussy cut borders, I stacked several strips of scrap white cardstock cut at 1/4" wide. I stacked three pieces of the strips. In using strips, I created dimension without too much bulk a foam strip creates. The paper strips does not get squished flat like the foam adhesive when sent by mail. Best of all, I get to use my scrap paper stash.

I adhered the stacked strip to the back of the fussy cut stamped border.

I adhered the stacked borders to a 4" x 5 1/4" white cardstock panel.

I adhered the borders alternating the colors until the panel is filled with the borders.

I adhered the panel to an A2 top folding note card. The sentiment was heat embossed on vellum using gold embossing powder.

I hope you like today's project. Please visit the BPM Blog for more details on how I created this card. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

A Shimmery Christmas Card, a Blank Page Muse Post

Hello! I am back at the Blank Page Muse blog with this card for an alternate take on Christmas theme. I was going for a steampunk design but ended up with a shimmery design for a card. But before I continue with the card, let me greet you all A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you are enjoying the holiday with your loved ones.

I used stamps from the Blank Page Muse Country Vintage Christmas Rubber Art Stamps Sheet Set. I did some embossing, fussy cutting and die cutting to create the scene. I used shimmer paper on this card except for the curved strip.

I used a Glad Press 'N Seal to preserve the arrangement of the stockings as I add liquid glue to the back of the cut outs.

I hope you like today's card. Please visit the Blank Page Muse blog for details on the process of how I created this card.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Color Inspired Stitched Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created this card to join this monht's Altenew inspiration Challenge.

I added a lot of stitching to this card. I used the Altenew String Art Rectangles Die Set to add the stitching holes. I used the largest die, the third to the largest die and the fifth to the largest die to add the holes to a white cardstock panel cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I cut these into frames using a craft knife. I stitched on these frames using a chain link stitch. I used DMC embroidery floss following the colors in the challenge photo.

I trimmed the frames to make it skinny being careful not to cut any of the stitching.

I cut a heavy weight vellum at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I prepped this for heat embossing. I stamped the floral bundles from the Altenew Watercolor Flowers Stamp Set from the Craft Your Life Project Kit using Veramark ink. I poured Wow! White Pearl embossing powder to the sticky ink. I heat set the powder until it has melted.

I used some more of the dies from the Altenew String Rectangles Die Set (the 2nd, 4th & 6th from the largest dies) to add holes to the embossed vellum. I did a running stitch to these poked holes using a lighter shade of the same colors I used on the frames. I used less amount of floss on the running stitch than the chain link stitch.

I adhered the frames to the vellum.

For the sentiment, I die cut the word hugs from the Altenew Timeless Sentiments Die Set on a mirrored black cardstock and two pieces of it on black cardstock. I adhered the black die cuts on top of each other and topped it with the mirror sentiment die cut for some dimension. I adhered this on the center of the embossed vellum panel.

I adhered color coordinating sequins to the chain link stitching.

I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card.

I hope you like today's card. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Rainbow Greeting Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's card was inspired by this month's Pink Fresh Studio's Blog Challenge Rainbow Reverie.

I used the colors of the rainbow to color the frames. I used the PFS Decorative Frames Press Plate and Die for the background. I did the letter press first by inking the press plate with a black dye ink and using the Spellbinders Betterpress System and cardstock. I have not letterpressed for a while so I had a couple of rejects before coming up with this one.

Using the coordinating die, I die cut the frames. I used a metal shim in cutting the frames since the Betterpress cardstock is thicker than the regular cardstock.

I blended Tim Holtz Distress inks on the frames. I blend the colors where it overlaps. The colors I used are Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Blueprint Sketch, Mowed Lawn and Seedless Preserves. I used the reject scraps to layer behind the blended frames to add depth.

I adhered these frames to a scrap white cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I trimmed this panel to fourths to so I can rotate it and create a different pattern.

I stamped the flower from the PFS Lovely Blooms stamp set on vellum using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I poured black metallic embossing folder to this and heat set it. I die cut the flower using the coordinating die. I used vellum for a softer look. I colored the floral bunch using the coordinating stencil. I used the same ink colors I used on the frames.

I stamped the sentiment on vellum also. The sentiment is from PFS Humbled & Grateful stamp set. I stamped this using Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I die cut the sentiment using the coordinating die. I love sentiments with coordinating dies since it saves me time from fussy cutting it.

I die cut extras on white and black cardstocks. I adhered the vellum piece to the white cardstock. I used a sticker maker to add adhesive to the back of the vellum. I adhered this to the black die cuts slightly off setting it for a shadow look.

I adhered this to the panel where the frames meet.

I hope you like today's card. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

A Floral Background on Vellum

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I am also today's blog author at Blank Page Muse featuring the same card.

November is the month of Thanksgiving which is one of the inspirations for this card. Although the color is not a seasonal color, somehow, I am attracted to green so I created a card using this color.

The stamp I used for the background is the Blank Page Muse Henna Flower Decorative Motif Art rubber stamp. I stamped this repeatedly on vellum cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

I did not want the image to overlap and I want to fill the panel with the image. To achieve this, I used the handy dandy old tool Stamp a Ma Jig. This tool is very useful when using rubber stamps in stamping.

I prepped the panel with an anti-static powder tool. I stamped the image using Versamark ink. The embossing powder I used is Wow! White Pearl embossing powder.

Embossing on vellum can be very tricky. The slick surface of the vellum attracts the powder. To have some control over this, always pre-treat the paper before embossing. Another challenge with vellum is its tendency to warp with repeated heating. To prevent this, give the heat gun a good warming up before melting the powder. Also, continuously move the heat gun while melting the powder. I was amazed by the limited warping I had so I hope these tricks work for you, too. I also placed something heavy over the vellum after I am done creating my background to help flatten the vellum.

To make the flowers pop, I colored the flowers with a green metallic pen but instead of coloring it on the front, I colored it on the back. The metallic color was too bright for me. I muted the color by wiping it with an alcohol wipe. The effect was actually a happy accident for me. The alcohol did not only mute the color but it also made the color spread like a color blended look.

For the sentiment, I am stitching on an embossed die sentiment which lately has been my favorite technique. I embossed a sentiment die from My Favorite Things on green cardstock. I poked holes on the impressed outline created by the die. I used a DMC Variegated floss for the stitching. I fussy cut the sentiment leaving a border around it. I painted the sentiment with Finetec Mica paint.

I hope you like today's card. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Rainbow Tiled Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. My busy crafting schedule for the past weeks left me on a slump this week. I have more than one card planned to create this week but fatigue set in, slowing me down on a lot of stuff including creating this card. I almost gave up on this card because nothing seems to be working the way I envisioned it. Even up to the point that the card is all done, something just not seems right. This post is not only about creating this card but also on how I did not give up on myself during this down time.

I am using the Altenew Patchwork Tiles stamp set. I positioned the stamp on the Misti Stamping Tool so I can just move the cardstock panel to repeatedly stamp the image on a straight line. I stamped the image on vellum to have a frosted effect. I used different colors of Tim Holtz Distress Oxide, following a rainbow order. Using the Misti helped in re-stamping the image especially if the impression was not perfect the first time.  Since I heat embossed the images, I prepped the area with an anti-static tool first before stamping the image. I used clear embossing powder which made the color of think darker, getting a more tile look. Some areas are still not perfectly stamped. It seems like there is an area wherein the ink won't transfer to the vellum despite multiple stamping. I am not sure if my now non-sticky mat that's causing this.

I colored the back of the vellum with Copic markers following the color of the tile to add color to the tiles.

Now is when the fiddling starts. I can't seem to decide what to do next. To find inspiration, I search the internet for cards using vellum and take it from there. I settled with a framed card. I used a square die from the Kat Scrappiness Never Ending Square dies to cut the square opening on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock panel. I created three pieces of this framed panel. I adhered the vellum panel on top of one of the frames. I adhered the other two on top of each other, then adhered it on top of the vellum piece.

I added color coordinating sequins to the center of each tile. To cover the sequin hole, I added Nuvo glittered drop to the centers of the sequins.

For the sentiment, I die cut the Birch Press Design Big Thanks Sugar Script Craft die. I chose this die sentiment because its length and size are perfect for the bottom space of the frame. This was not my first choice for the sentiment on this card making adding one more thing to my struggles creating this card.

I die cut the sentiment three times on black cardstock. I adhered the three die cuts on top of each other for a dimensional look, then adhered it to the bottom space of the frame without taking a test look first. I cringed when I saw how the black sentiment stole the eye away from the colored tiles. Another struggle on with this card. It is at this point that I wanted to try and removed the adhered die cut but I know with the quality of liquid glue that I used, most likely I am going to warp that area. I walked away from my crafting space before I do more harm to the card. Talking it out with my sister, telling her why I don't like how the card looks made me come up with a plan on how to fix it. This time, with a little bit of confidence, I know I am going to get it right. I die cut the sentiment on a pearl shimmery white cardstock. I adhered it to the black stacked sentiment die cut, slightly offsetting it. Yes! I finally like how the card looks.

Thank you for baring with me with this post. I just want to let you know that a crafting slump can happen without warning, and it is okay. It is just like any struggle in life that comes our way. How we deal with the struggle is what matters in providing outcomes. I am hoping my crafting slump is just short lived. We shall see.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

6/2024: Altenew decided to change its affiliate program starting this month. Below is my affiliate link to the website. I don't think I can directly link the products I used with this new program. Please feel free to do a product search. I will update as I figure this out. The good thing about this new affiliate program is that I get to earn on each Altenew product you purchase and not only on the product/s I used on this project. As before, there will be no additional cost to you if you make a purchase. It is just a way to help a fellow crafter sustain her love for crafting. While in the Altenew blog, don't forget to check out their new release for this month. Thank you for your support!

Mini Envelope Christmas Card

Hello! I created this card to join in the Scrapbook And Cards Today's Blog Challenge Week as they celebrate the release of their new magazine edition. There are several challenges but I chose to participate in the Mood Board which you can see below.

The photos that caught my eye are the top right and the top bottom. I also love the featured colors in this mood board.

I die cut mini envelopes using a die from the Lawn Fawn Happy Mail die set. I die cut different colored vellum. I trimmed a cream cardstock at 1" x 1 1/2" and scored it at 3/4" on the long side. This will be the mini card inserts in the envelope. I stamped different messages inside each mini card using the LF Tiny Tags Saying stamp set. I stamped the sentiments using Versafine Onyx Black ink. To embellish the front of the mini card, I am using a Christmas tree foil tape. The Christmas trees come continuously. I snipped off every other tree following the tree's contour which is not hard to do since it is just a straight cut. I adhered this to the front of the mini card. I rounded the bottom edges using a We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

For the panel, I die cut a gray cardstock using a stitched rectangular die from Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. I splattered some W Plus 9 Shimmer Spray to this panel. I added white splatters using Copic Opaque White Ink. I set this aside to dry.

For the main sentiment, I die cut the word joy from My Favorite Things. I die cut this on a pink and platinum vellum. I adhered the pink vellum on top of the white vellum die cut hoping it will make the pink color pop some more. Since the color is still too subtle, I carefully blended Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink to this die cut.

I created sentiment strips to complete the sentiment. I used stamps from Ink Blot Shop and Hero Arts. I heat embossed the sentiments on a pink cardstock strips using Hero Arts white embossing powder. I blended the same Tim Holtz Distress Ink to these strips. I die cut the strips using Avery Elle Simple Sentiments Elle-ments die.

I adhered the envelopes to this panel the same way as the envelopes on the mood board. I adhered the die cut sentiment, then the strips.

Thank you for viewing my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day. Merry Christmas everyone!

Vellum Christmas Crystal Ornaments Card

Hello! I created this card to take part in Hero Arts' Blog Challenge. I am using the Hero Arts Christmas Crystals stamp set. I first stamped the crystals on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" typing paper to allow me to visualize how the cluster of crystals will look. I lined each crystal stamp to this template then stamped each crystal with Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Distress Ink using the Misti Stamping Tool. I am using a red cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I painted these crystals at first but with the type of vellum I used, it wasn't showing through the vellum. So I changed gears with this card. Remember the template I created? I made this into a stencil. With the use of a craft knife, I cut off the crystals which is not too hard at all since the crystals have straight edges. I lined this made up stencil to the stamped crystals. I applied Deco Foil Transfer Gel to the open area of the stencil. I removed the stencil and set this aside to dry.

After the transfer gel has dried, I covered the gelled areas with scrap pieces of foil. I sandwiched this inside a folded parchment paper and an extra piece of cardstock. I fed this through the Minc Machine.

I added some stitch detailing to this red cardstock by die cuttting it with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangular Wafer die.

I treated a piece of Clearprint heavy vellum with an anti-static tool. I stamped the crystals using Versamark ink. I poured Wow! Glitter Midas Touch embossing powder to this, then heat set it. I fussy cut the crystals. I watercolored the crystals using Finetec Pearl Colors Metallic Golds. I set this aside to dry, putting something heavy on top of it to control the warping. I added adhesive to these vellum crystals using a Sticker Maker. I then adhered this to the red cardstock making sure I lined the cut up crystal to the glittered crystal on the cardstock. I threaded a silver floss through the top of the crystals and taped this to the back of the cardstock. I created bows using the same thread then adhered this to the top of the crystals.

For the sentiment, I heat embossed this using HA White embossing powder. The sentiment is from the HA Holiday Sayings.

I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card. The vellum crystals remind me of the Capiz shells in the Philippines.

Faux Carved Paper Pumpkin

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our challenge is on Halloween and/or Autumn-Fall Colours. We are working with a new sponsor, and I am so excited to work with their images.

The first time I saw this image, I knew it will be best to use it as a template to carve a pumpkin. The problem is I am not a pumpkin carver. So I designed a pumpkin made of paper.

I am using a layered pumpkin image from Cricut Design Space. I uploaded the haunted house image to the CDS so I can make sure the sizes match. I used the slice feature to cut a circle window on all the layers of the pumpkin except for the back layer. I added inking to the front panel to make the pumpkin more realistic looking.

I printed the haunted house on vellum and set it aside to dry. I colored the back of the vellum using Copic markers. I die cut the image using a MFT Circle stack die. I ink blended one of the cut circles with Tim Holtz Distress inks to create a night sky and reinforce the sky of the colored digital image.

I used cardstock to create the dimension. I was hoping I can flatten the pumpkin without distorting the dimension the folded cardstock creates but it cannot be flattened. It must be how I adhered these cubes of cardstock. Anyway, I think it would have been better to give this in a box since you have to add a tea light to complete the effect.

I die cut a dome on the back two pumpkin panels to create a holder for the tea light. The tea light also supports the pumpkin but with the dimension, this pumpkin is sturdy. I used an oval die to create the dome cut.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope to see your creations on the challenge blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
