Other crafts I've been working on...
I've been keeping myself pretty busy crafting. Grandma E taught me how to knit dish cloths so I've been making those like a mad woman! I gave some to my friend Sue for her birthday and she loved them. Yay!!
I've also been making lots of baby bibs for all of my friends and co-workers who are pregnant.
I've added some new pics here.

What I'm working on now...
The Montana scarf. The color is really more of a mustard yellow but I'm loving it. I am knitting two stands of yarn together to make it really thick and chunky and I'm loving it!
I got the pattern from here.

Old Shale Scarf
I've been just crafting away lately. And since I make so many scarves I figured I better learn how to make some patterns. My friend Lisa told me about this site called Ravelry.com where you can get patterns for knitting and crocheting. I haven't made it to Jennie caliber yet so no crocheting for me. But I found quite a few patterns in want to try to knit. Here is my first one. What do you think??

Hand Made
Another baby shower at work... this time it was for Ryan!! She is so cute pregnant!! She is one of many having a baby girl so I made her 2 bibs in the same format as the rest of the baby girl bibs...
I'm getting pretty efficient at making them. This time it only took about 45 minutes to make 2!! Woo hoo!!

Hand Made
Martha Lynn and Marcus had their baby!!! His name is Mason and is he not the cutest thing ever...
I hadn't gone to a shower so Wednesday night I decided that I need a gift for him when I go to their house Friday. I have been making bibs for all the showers that I have been going to however they were all for baby girls. I have baby girl fabric but no baby boy fabric. No time to go to the store to buy some, here is what I came up with...
I made it from an old t-shirt. What do you think??

For Rachael T
All the women at work are having babies!! Well, all but me it seems. Which, if I'm going to be honest, I really am ok with. I'm not ready. But its so much fun seeing everyone else having babies!!
Wednesday we had a shower for Rachael T, which was super cute!! I made the Ramen Noodle Salad that I previously blogged about. I also made her a present...

I'm getting quicker at using the sewing machine!! It took about half the time to make 2 bibs as the first time I made one. Woo hoo!!

Reupholstered
It took some time but I finally have the chair reupholstered!! Woo hoo!! Look how beautiful it is :)
This was my first attempt at adding the ribbing around the pillows. I broke a few needles in the process of learning but I think it was worth the time and effort!! It turned out better than I imagined it would. Yay me!!

Crafty
I went to a baby shower on Wednesday and needed a gift. I'm kinda tapped out of money so I had to do something on the cheap. What that generally entails is making something. I'm also tapped out on time, so what could I make in a snap. I found it online!! I pulled a pattern from this site and made this...
Do you like the bib?? It took me only a few hours Monday night from start to finish.

How to Make Your Own Beach Hair Spray
I have been missing Florida like crazy (especially with this crazy cold weather we have been having). I also completely miss the feeling/smell of my hair after we spent the day at the beach. I was finding some beach hair sprays that I could purchase but then I found one that I could make. I haven't made it yet however I want to give it a shot. Check it out!
What you need:
plastic spray bottle
sea salt
coconut oil, olive oil or light conditioner
essential oil
lemon juice (for lighting, optional)
What you need:
plastic spray bottle
sea salt
coconut oil, olive oil or light conditioner
essential oil
lemon juice (for lighting, optional)
- Buy a plastic spray bottle from your local drugstore and pour water into it until it is mostly filled.
- Add a few tsps. of sea salt (make sure it's sea salt and not just table salt). The more salt you add, the more "crunchy," textured, and beach-like your hair will be.
- You need to add something moisturizing to combat the drying factor of the salt. You can use a little coconut oil, olive oil or even some light conditioner. Just don't add more than a dash so it doesn't weigh down your hair.
- Add a few drops of essential oil for fragrance and additional benefits. For example, rose essential oil is hydrating and smells great. Choose your favorite oil based on scent and healing properties.
- Shake all the ingredients really, really well to get the ingredients to mix, or the oil will remain on the surface and the salt on the bottom. Spray all over your hair until very damp.
- If your hair has a little natural wave, just scrunch your damp locks with your fingers a little and let air dry. If your hair is more naturally straight, you may need to twist your locks. Twist them into buns and pin on your head with bobby pins. When your hair is almost dry, unwrap your locks and shake them out gently.
- If you plan on being out in the sun and want to add some lightening power, squeeze some lemon juice into your mixture. Then store the mixture in the fridge.
- Enjoy your wavy, beach hair and tell everyone you just got back from a day by the sea!
