PKmusik is proud to announce the release of ARBOR, the highly anticipated debut album from the jazz quartet of the same name, set to be released on December 6th, 2024. ARBOR is a collaboration between guitarist Michalis Tsiftsis and bassist Yiannis Vagianos, who first crossed paths at the Franco Ambrosetti Jazz Awards in 2022, where they took home the first and second prizes, respectively. This serendipitous meeting ignited a creative spark that has blossomed into one of the most exciting new projects in contemporary jazz.

ARBOR derives its name from the Latin word for "tree," symbolizing growth, resilience, and deep-rooted connection. The quartet’s sound is a fusion of modern jazz innovation and ambient, contemporary influences. Tsiftsis and Vagianos’s compositions traverse a rich landscape, balancing dynamic improvisations with intricate, emotive harmonic textures. The band’s music evokes a profound sense of place and connection to nature, making ARBOR both a sonic journey and a tribute to the resilience of life.

Michalis Tsiftsis: A guitarist and composer, Tsiftsis holds a Master’s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music. His work has been praised for its versatility and elegance, from delicate leads to soaring improvisations. He has played in renowned international ensembles and composed for both film and television.


Yiannis Vagianos: A versatile bassist, Vagianos holds degrees from Codarts University of the Arts and Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Known for his wide-ranging influences from traditional jazz to world music, Vagianos’s talent has brought him to prestigious stages, including the North Sea Jazz Festival.


Joining Tsiftsis and Vagianos are:

Yiannis Papadopoulos: A pianist extraordinaire, bringing his unique flair to the band’s sound.

Nick Thessalonikefs: The dynamic and talented drummer who completes this innovative ensemble.
