Vin: It's like a fellow I once knew in El Paso. One day, he just took all his clothes off and jumped in a mess of cactus. I asked him that same question, "Why?"
Calvera: And?
Vin: He said, "It seemed to be a good idea at the time

SUBJECT:  Cacti & Flower

I spent my day attending Genealogy seminar held at the Shrine.  On the way out to the highway, I passed this clump of cacti.  It looks like they have been enjoying the heat we’ve been experiencing this summer.

Prickly Plant (098/366)

What is this beast, she thought, with muscles on his arms like a bag of snakes? What is this moss on his legs? What prickly plant grows on his cheeks? What is this voice as deep as a dog?

Anne Sexton (1928-1974), U.S. poet. "Rapunzel."

I needed a new water pump for a small fountain that I keep on my porch during the summer months.  DramaQueen accompanied me to Home Depot to search for one.  While we were there, she decided that she NEEDED a cactus for her room.  Why?  I don’t know.  Maybe because it’s a bit prickly, just like she can be sometimes.  Ha!

Bob (026/365)

“I have learned the difference between a cactus and a caucus. On a cactus, the pricks are on the outside.”

This is DQ’s cactus, which she purchased from Home Depot last year and named “Bob” <= why?  I don’t know…because she could I guess.  All that green – the wall, pot, cactus flower and cactus rind – is natural.  So are the shadows.  The one on the left is from a piece of MonkeyBoy’s furniture that is temporarily residing in her room while I’m painting his and the one on the right is from a display case that sits next to the cactus on the top of the bookcase.  I like serendipitous surprises when I take pictures.  I couldn't have colored/lit it that way if I tried.
