WOYWW #205

Just popping in for a quick weekly update. It's Wednesday and time for another jaunt around the web visiting bloggers to snoop on their work-desks. If you want to join in pop on over to Julia's  to add your link to the list.
On my "work-desk" aka dining room table, this week is the project I am making on for   "For the Birds" blog hop with the gang at Sew We Quilt. I had to throw scraps on top of the project because It is not to be seen until tomorrow. Yes it will be finished.  I hope I hope I hope.

It's halfway finished ....... but I have to be finished and ready to share.
The fact that today is Pottery Class day doesn't help.  I need to learn to procrastinate around other commitments.

It's hard to take process photos while playing with clay. So a photo every once in a while is going to have to satisfy your curiosity. This is a shot of a bowl centered upside down in preparation to "clean the butt" and trim the foot.   I didn't get a shot of the completed task. Like I said it is hard to take pictures when your hands are oooey and goooey with slippery smooth clay.
( cue Patrick Swayze (sadly missed)   and the theme song from Ghost )

So that's it for today.  If you sew or are thinking about sewing....come back tomorrow for loads of fun and a giveaway....here.....on my blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Typos are provided for your entertainment. Enjoy !

WOYWW #203

Time to jump back into WOYWW on a more regular basis. This week I am showing you where I have been hanging out lately.    This is my Nook.  When we remodeled our kitchen last year I decided the half bath had to go. So now it is a nook. I spend a few hours a day in here .....mostly online. I am taking an online art course ( 21 Secrets ... link on my sidebar) and the videos are amazing.

Last week  Kay , aka, "505Whimsey Girl" shared a pattern for an easy lace stitch so I made a green one for my daughter, a lavender one for a gift for a friend,  and a pink one for the Pink Scarf Project.  It is a very easy pattern. Kay has it on her blog if you are interested.

Thank you so much Kay !   I love it.   The green one is done and my daughter took it before I had a chance to take a pic. The lavender one needs a few more rows and the pink one is half done. Love the pattern.  Not paper but fun just the same.

In other news... I was reading the latest issue of Best Friends Animal Society magazine and saw this:

That's my Bosley. I guess they took the photo before he came here to live. I love it when one of my "kids" gets published.

Well enough about me.
There are so many blogs for you to visit.
Clck here to go to Julia's blog for the list of blogs.
Have a great week

WOYWW # 191

One of the things I missed most about blogging was the friends I made and ideas shared among crafters and artists. One of my favorite weekly events was WOYWW. I loved seeing what everyone was up to each week. So of course when I decided to start blogging again I could not wait to see you all. I am currently on vacation in FL so I have a makeshift crafting area that envolved pushing my dinette table up against my desk. The table supports the weight of the quilt I am working on.
The other stuff on the table is from a recent spree to a local quilt shop and rubberstamp store. I had been working on quilts all month and had a severe craving to stamp and collage. This is going to be a very fun week.  I am going to make some blank note cards with the mermaid paper. The black roll tied with a piece of fabric is Chalkboard Fabric. I never worked with it before so I am excited to play with that this weekend. I also picked up some new fabric to make another quilt top.
Oh and the notebook is set on Pinterest.....I am very addicted to Pinterest. Are you?

Have a beautiful day!

here today, gone tomorrow

Well when will I ever learn?
If you happened to stop by yesterday you were able to read my WOYWW post.
But fat chance trying to read it now....
you see...
I linked to my edit page instead of the post..
then when I asked Julia to delete my link in the list...she did ...
but somehow I had managed to delete the post...oops.

I guess I have been away from my blog so long that I lost the skilz

anyway
the post was about this pile of photos

that I am converting to digital

to be stored on this
part of my effort to de-clutter

While going through the old photos, I found a few you might like to see

I am also posting these as a bit of a tease to Sunny.

If the stars align and all goes well,
Sunny will be visiting me here soon.

fingers crossed

wish you all could visit too

someday maybe you will

oh and before I forget. Happy Ground Hog Day
it looks like 6 more weeks of winter.
but if the next six weeks are like the last six weeks
it will be smooth sailing

WOYWW # 139

First. Let me thank ALL of you for your comments and emails
after my previous post. I love blogland and I am sorry I stayed
away so long. I am sure you all understand .

It's hard to connect with the outside world, when you are drowning in your own.

So in an effort to get back into the swing of things I am going to
start participating in my favorite link up parties.

Today is Wednesday and that means WOYWW.

as I said yesterday,  I am on vacation and I did not
 bring crafty projects with me.
But I did  bring a few organizing projects.
I brought this:
years and years of photos that never made it into scrapbooks.
I can't seem to be able to part with them ....so
this is on my table today

Although neatly organized in  boxes, they take up too much space
so, through the scanner they go

and they will be stored on this teeeeny tiny disk:

technology is amazing.
yes, that is a US Quarter that the disk is sitting upon.
So I will be here for a few days working on this fun organizing
project while taking a trip though the past.
In the meantime......
Here's a closeup of a common item....
What is it?

after you leave your answer in a comment here
be sure to go to Julia's to see what
everyone else is sharing today.

happy to be back in blogland !

butterfly box step by step / WOYWW #112

I've been away for a while but now I am back. And what better way to come back than to join in with Julia's WOYWW
(what's on your workdesk wednesday )

I have a project that I have been working on sporadically since January
and
It's finally  ( almost)   finish !

I started working on this  while on vacation
and while cleaning my craft room yesterday I found, it and decided it was time to finish it.
So instead of clearing out old magazines and folding new fabric...
I picked up my little box and started to play.

Who needs clearing and folding anyway?

So to recap
In January I found a cute box
added a layer of glue and paint
more paint around the edges

I used paper and paint tio line the inside

Found a beautiful piece of paper to cover the front

I chose to use the butterfly portion
covered with a few layers of paint and ink

I used ink and colored pencil to "age" the edges
more pencil to add definition and shadow
now on to embellishment.

well.....I said I was ALMOST finished

I need to finish this by mid August because I have special plans for it.
shhhhh....it's a secret

Thanks for stopping by.
If you didn't come from Julia's WOYWW Link party.
Go there now to see all of the other contributors work spaces.

woyww # 92 - paper, ink and more

It's time for woyww once again and I do have a few things to show you.  If you came from Julia's list you know what I am talking about. If you didn't then you need to pop over there to see what this is all about.
First,  I have been cleaning up my inks, pens and misc wall. Next week I'll  tackle paints and mediums.
The problem with having a large space is that while cleaning I always get distracted by the fun stuff and end up making a bigger mess,  instead of cleaning up the original mess....this problem keep multiplying until I can't move anymore and I end up on the dining room table.  My goal is to have the whole room clean at one time so I can show you the whole space. I would show you now ....but I really don't want to win an award for most clutter.

Second,  I have been making journals and gathered some paper and fabric on the dining room table ....because ... of course there's no room to work in the craft room.

And last,  The big project this week..... I have the boxes for my giveaway lined up and almost full. I have a few surprise gifts to put into each on then they will be sealed and ready for my giveaway drawing  this weekend.

and here's the database I am using to keep track of the entries.  It's actually five giveaways in one, and the way I am allowing the players to choose where their entries go takes a bit of organization.
Everyone gets three chances and can play them any way they want. So far I have 35 players, so that's 105 entries.  I am having fun with this.    There's still time to enter. Check out Life at RuffHaven to see if you might be interested in any of the goodies. Now off you go to see what everyone else has on their work space this week.

woyww - #88 ...four projects and some zen

I wasn't going to play today....But I am addicted to woyww....so sad ...so ...  pathetic.
If you need info on woyww go to Julia's Blog to get all the juicy details

Anyway here it is,  in all its glory

... on my table you'll see various scraps and  supplies used in the making of

the box with the butterfly....

the blue ribbon is from a heart I made for a swap
...I didn't join until the last minute then I didn't have enough time to mail it...so it's still here

This past week I also finished a small notebook

a tag

a  zentangle for the diva's challenge

 ....yes.... I    love    a    challenge....
see my side bar

I'll be adding more I'm sure.

My small dinette table has served me well during this vacation
I can't wait to go home...but I sure have been having fun.

Well
I've kept you long enough
off you go to see other work spaces

Thanks for stopping by.
