Postage Collage Valentine

I finally broke down and bought the Waffle Flower Postage Collage Bundle with a few extras including the 8.5" Square Grip Mat. Wow!!! I LOVE all of these things. This was my first attempt at these ever-so-popular supplies that have endless possibilities, so I basicly copied THIS  Card by Galina Filippenko, who designed this wonderful collection. I omitted the white dots, stamped different postmarks in different places, and used the Postage Coloring Stencil on white for the card base instead of solid black. I love this postage collection, and I LOVE the Grip Mat.

Love

Less Is More #468 starts today. We are challenged to create a CAS card with embossing.

To create my card, I dry embossed a card base of 110# Neenah Solar White card stock with Anna Griffin's Regal Braid 1"x7" EF from Cricut Cuttlebug. I then die cut my sentiment from a sandwich of black mirror card stock, Stick It and fun foam using the Paper Smooches Love Word die. I glued the sentiment onto my card base and my card was complete. I needed a wedding card and this fits the bill perfectly.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple which we define as designs that include large areas of CLEAR AND CLEAN space with NO PATTERN, NO INK and NO TEXTURE See challenge guidelines on the Less Is More Blog.

National Peanut Butter Lovers Day

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list. Your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation.

Today's festivities are inspired by National Peanut Butter Love's Day, which takes place on Tuesday, March 1st. The challenge runs from February 18th to February 28th.

I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the theme. For this one, I dug into the deep, dark recesses of my stash and pulled out the Perfect Match stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop. I've had it since 2012 and never inked it up. It was time! I stamped the peanut butter and jelly bread images along with the sentiment, colored them with Copics, added a little WOS and die cut the panel with Spellbinders Square Hemstitch dies.

The peanut butter reference is obvious, but in looking to add some texture to the background, I found my also never-before-used SU Painted Texture Embossing Folder, and it really reminded me of smeared peanut butter on bread. I embossed a piece of kraft card stock, swiped it with some Tea Dye Distress Ink for more definition, popped up the white die cut panel, added some twine to match the grape jelly adhered it to the kraft card base,  and my card was complete.

I used neutrals, brown, texture and twine from the inspo list.

Come play with us! Remember that your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation!
A favorite technique of mine is to add texture with embossing folders swiped with ink.

You Are Loved

Today, I watched THIS video by Jennifer McGuire, and immediately wanted to try this technique. It uses sanding blocks, and I actually had SU sanding blocks in my stash that have not seen the light of day for at least 10 years! Oh happy day! Here's to hoarding supplies... and I have about a million embossing folders. I am so glad to see EFs having a bit of a renaissance in the craft world these days. Since I still have Valentine stuff all over the place, I chose to try this with my Sizzix 3-D textured Impressions Hearts embossing folder.

I applied and blended 3 shades of Pink Distress Oxide Inks from dark to light onto Neenah Solar white 110# card stock. (next time I will use more contrasting colors). I ran the embossing folder through my die cut machine, then sanded the raised areas with the sanding block. The SSS You Are Loved Word and Shadow Die Set was already foiled and assembled and in my snippet box waiting to be used. I popped it up with foam tape and adhered it to my background. Done!

I just love the way this turned out, and of course, I went shopping afterwards from Jennifer's supply list, as I really loved doing this. Of course, I bought more embossing folders. Oy! It all started with a visit to one of my favorite crafty friends, and her wonderful card made for Let's Squash It, though she did not use this technique. The rest is shopping history. Tee hee hee.

You Are Loved

I wanted to use this gnome and large die cut sentiment together. I could not find a way to like whatever I tried on an A2 sized card. I am not so comfortable with the slimline craze, but when I laid this out, and added the stenciled hearts with the delicious new Distress Oxide color - Kitsch Flamingo, it made me very happy. The pink background behind the die cut sentiment is pink vellum. The DO ink, SSS Gnome dies & sentiment dies are "Never Before Used Schtuff"!

Stick With Love

When I saw the cue for this CASology challenge, I was touched and inspired. I wanted to play so much, and I am screaming in at the last minute to do so. There are a million thoughts and emotions behind my intent, but suffice it to say, I am pleased to join this challenge. The word "unite" can mean so many things. We have seen it demonstrated of late in both the positive and the negative. I choose that word to be positive and healing and good. So glad that I was able to take the time to make this card tonight.

I used an image and sentiment from the We Stand With You stamp set from The Stamping Village that came out in 2020. I am pleased and proud to own it. Huge thanks and hugs to those who created it.

I used a strip of Washi tape to represent the world, and repeated the hands holding heart image in different skin shades, coloring them with Zigs. I love this card. I am feeling full as I post it. Stick with love. Cheer for love. Live in love. Let love win.

Lucky To Have Each Other

A new challenge is up at Less Is More where the challenge is Scribbles, Drips and/or Splats.

To create my card, I used a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor card stock, wetting the bottom right corner generously. I sprinkled it with Brushos and moved the color around a bit by blowing on it. I die cut the heart from Neenah Solar White 80# card stock using Sizzix Scribbles and Splat die set. I added a sentiment from SSS, and die cut it with a die from Pink and Main Sentiment Strip Dies. I also splattered a bit of gold Heidi Swap metallic spray in the bottom right quadrant.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations and for a chance to win. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple.

To be eligible for showCASe and PRIZE WINNER choices you will need to carefully follow the guidance on our GLOSSARY OF TERMS and our HOW TO PLAY pages. Your design should feature lots of clean / white / blank / non patterned / non textured space. All challenge details are on the Less Is More blog. Good Luck!

Love You

Hello!!
It's a new month, and it's time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS. Our Code Word for ATCAS Challenge #177 is OMBRE. Barb is our lovely hostess!

For my one layer, very simple card, I stencilled one of the hearts from Funky Fossils Four Hearts stencil with three red shades of Distress Oxide ink. It really does have an ombre look, but the picture does not pick that up well. I then stamped the sentiment from SSS Kristina's Love stamp set over the stencilled heart with VersaFine Onyx Blank Ink.

Please head on over to the ATCAS Challenge Blog, take a look at the wonderful inspiration pieces the Design Team has created for your inspiration, and make something to share in the gallery. Challenge winner will be offered a Guest Designer spot for a future challenge. Happy crafting!

Please remember that this is a CAS challenge. Here is a definition to remind you:

Love You

Time for a new challenge at Addicted To CAS: ATCAS #153: Code Word GRID.

Our Guest Designer is Eliz Stewart. Elizabeth's work is full of creativity, inspiration and fun. Be sure to treat yourself to a stroll through her blog. You will be so glad you did.

The code word immediately put me in mind of Simon Says Stamp Cling Stamp Lattice Grid. I embossed a piece of Neenah Solar White 80# card stock with white embossing powder. I then blended 3 shades of Distress Oxide Ink over the embossing. I cut the embossed panel, adhered it to the card base along with a 1/8" strip of dark gray card stock. I die cut the word "love" from a snippet of watercolored card stock with Papertrey Ink Wonderful Words Love Die and stamped "you" from Simon Says Stamp's You Matter.

Please remember that this is a CAS challenge. Here is a definition to remind you:

All Things Grow With Love

Time Out Challenge 107 is up and running with a theme of Spring and a twist of a one layer. I bought a set of Derwent Metallic Watercolor Pencils a long time ago and never used them. Lately I have been seeing lots of dark backgrounds with embossing and coloring with pencils and Distress Oxide Inks among other mediums, so I decided it was time. I really love the way this came out. The black background is a little off the beaten path for Spring, but that's how I rolled with this inspiration. I love this image from Uniko's Orininally Organic stamp set and I think the sentiment is very hopeful and springy too.

Our challenge sponsor is Uniko - thank you, Bev! The winner, chosen at random from those participants who twist, will receive an "in stock" stamp set of their choice from the Uniko Shop.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Kimberly Wiener of Wienerhoneymooners. Treat yourself to a visit to Kim's blog - you will be so glad you did. Inspiration abounds!

So head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog and check out the wonderful creations of Guest Designer Kimberly and the Design Team. Be inspired to make some art!!! Join us in the gallery for a chance to win a prize from Uniko Stamps. Most of all, have fun creating!
