SAGA - System for Automated Geoscientific Analyses - is a Geographic Information System (GIS) software with immense capabilities for geodata processing and analysis. SAGA is programmed in the object oriented C++ language and supports the implementation of new functions with a very effective Application Programming Interface (API). Functions are organised as modules in framework independent Module Libraries and can be accessed via SAGA’s Graphical User Interface (GUI) or various scripting environments (shell scripts, Python, R, ...). Niche Analyst (NicheA) was developed based on the BAM framework which allows users to create virtual spaces and virtual species, and to analyze ecological niches in both multivariate environmental and geographic spaces, linking views of the niche in the two spaces. The unique functionality in NicheA, not available in other software programs, is estimating Grinnellian niches of species based on environmental variables and occurrence records, but with a clear focus on fundamental ecological niches. Raman Data Search and Storage
A Raman spectra library with search and storage function.
Raman Data Search and Storage (RDSS) software was developed as an analytical tool for a fast and accurate identification of unknown minerals by comparison of their spectra with the indexed library of data. A search function was implemented to enable users to find a specific peak value. Using the asterisk character (*) as a placeholder for one or more unknown peak value(s), the software will return the best match(es). Besides the search utility by the Raman band positions, which was proven to be priceless in the interpretation of Raman spectra, the RDSS software gives the user the ability to display and inspect the Raman spectra quickly and very efficiently. Users can zoom into the Raman spectrum, shift in any direction the wavenumber and the intensity axes, and if any part of the spectral display is clicked, that region will be highlighted and the specific wavenumber returned. A photo for every sample entry stored in the database is also available. -

metaf2xml can download, parse and decode aviation routine weather reports (METAR, SPECI, SAO), aerodrome forecasts (TAF), synoptic observations (SYNOP), observations from buoys (BUOY) and meteorological reports from aircrafts (AMDAR). Data can also be taken from decoded BUFR messages. The extracted data can be written as XML or passed to a user-defined function (all done in Perl). It also provides XSLT style sheets to convert the XML to plain language (text, HTML), or XML with different schemas. A web-based (CGI) user interface can be used to download and display up-to-date weather data from NOAA, Ogimet, and other sources. -

PyRadmon Reborn. This project started after the original programmers quit supporting it. The project now contains support for audio*, has a version that supports two Geiger counters** and a cleaner, more stable code. * = PyAudio is used as library for the audio support. ** = The two counters both run in their own thread. UPDATE-2015-2: * Added timeouts to sockets to prevent crashing of the script. * Updated some comments. UPDATE-2015-1: Since there have been some passed time I decided to pickup the keyboard to write for PyRadmon again, hence the new updates. Most significant changes: * Added a logger for catching and storing messages to a log file. * Complete cosmetic overhaul, fixing ugliness throughout the code, in the hope others might find it easier to read/more standardized.
