MCC-LIDAR is a C++ application for processing LiDAR data in forested environments. It classifies data points as ground or non-ground using the Multiscale Curvature Classification algorithm.

The BioEnergy Allocation and Simulation Tool (BEAST) is a tool dedicated to assess political goals of woody bioenergy production in the context of available biomass potentials and corresponding economic and ecological criteria on a regional level. It is a useful tool in participative decision making processes by iterative simulation and visualization of complex issues. BEAST is a data- and model-driven Decision Support System (DSS) evaluating woody biomass potentials from forests, hedges and trees outside forests as well as short rotation coppice (SRC). The latter one is modelled spatially explicit. This opens the possibility to identify prefered areas for SRC production under different restrictions and goals. Forest wood and wood from outside forests are treated only aggregated.

GIS data for Greece has been scarce. This project aims to provide methods, instructions and data for the construction of environmental maps of Greece with the help of open source GIS tools.

RS Downloader offers access to satellite image data pools. Via web interface the user is able to search and download specified satellite images. This version is an alpha and while running stable, currently only retrieves products from NASAs LP DAAC data pool (see https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/data_access/data_pool). Further versions will include updated parsers and spatial selection UIs to access other available sources.

A collection of Dashboard Widgets generally focused on displaying information provided by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Examples include river levels information of interest to whitewater kayakers amongst others.

This software uses data gathered from published biodiversity inventories, together with physical and vegetational maps, to build a biodiversity map (darkening geographical landscape according with the richness/diversity of species).

BioSARN (Biological Species Approximate Realized Niche) refines environmental niche model output using topographic, soil and land class filtering, enhanced temporal corridor definition, niche area quantification and output to a high spatial resolution land class model. The Forestry Commission and Natural England commissioned a bespoke data collection and presentation tool for calculating the potential for increasing the extent of tree cover across the north west of England. The data was divided into sub-regions by landscape type using Natural England's Character Area classifications. The potential within each of these Character Areas was then estimated by working groups of local experts who were capable of making reasoned assessments of both the opportunities and constraints to woodland creation. Subsequently, this project was considerably extended and adopted as a national system. It is currently being used to compile the National Woodland Potential dataset for the whole of England.
