The toolkit glpk supports methods for mixed integer linear programming (MILP). These methods solve Capital Budgeting Problems (CBP). Unfortunately, glpk does not support any multithreading and there is no feature to distribute problems via network connections. Today, this is a pitiable sight, because modern computer systems are coupled by networks and support multi threading. We create a distributed system with Apache thrift and the C-API of glpk. Now, it is possible to use as many cores in a network as you want. With a focus on the MILP methods we implement a load balancing and speed up the solving process in a multiplicative way. Sometimes we have super-linear speedup with a small set of hardware. With a splitting of problems, parallel computing and distributing the actual best solution to all running processes we solve CBP much faster than a sequential processing can do.

ADOMA stands for: Alternative Display Of Multiple Alignment. ADOMA can create four different displays of a multiple sequence alignment: a ClustalW alignment in HTML format, a simplified ClustalW alignment in HTML and/or txt format and a colored ClustalW alignment in HTML format. For examples of these outputfiles check the screenshots. ADOMA uses ClustalW to create the multiple alignment from DNA or protein sequences and displays them slightly different than the normal output of ClustalW. Cress (Communication Representation Employing Systematic Specification) allows graphical description of a wide variety of services such as in data communications/telecommunications, but Cress is not limited to this. The approach allows services to be described graphically as (work)flows of activities. Cress diagrams are automatically translated into formal languages for rigorous analysis and verification, and are also automatically translated into implementation languages for deployment and validation. Cress aims to make service design as easy as possible without requiring specialist development knowledge. It simplifies service creation to drawing diagrams, clicking buttons and defining a few tool parameters. All key functions of Cress can be controlled from the Chive diagram editor. Cress is written using portable and widely used languages (Perl and Java). It can be extended by a developer for other kinds of services that can be characterised by activity flows.
