The TESTIMAGES archive is a huge and free collection of sample images designed for analysis and quality assessment of different kinds of displays and image processing techniques. The archive includes more than 2 million images originally acquired and divided in three different categories: SAMPLING and SAMPLING_PATTERNS (aimed at testing resampling algorithms), COLOR (aimed at testing color rendering on different displays) and PATTERNS (aimed at testing the rendering of standard geometrical patterns). itom is an open source software suite for operating measurement systems, laboratory automation and data evaluation. One main application of itom is the development and operation of sensor and measurement system for instance in a laboratory environment. Therefore, the software has to be able to communicate with a wide range of different hardware systems, such as cameras or actuators and should provide a diversified and as complete as possible set of evaluation and data processing methods. Additionally, the rapid prototyping of modern measurement and inspection setups requires a system, where parameters or components can easily be changed at runtime, necessitating the availability of an embedded scripting language. Finally, when operating a measurement system, it is also desirable to extend the graphical user interface by system adapted dialogs and windows. Overhead Imagery Research Data Set (OIRDS) - an annotated data library & tools to aid in the development of computer vision algorithms

Reconstruction and Visualization from Multiple Sections (ReViMS), an open-source, user-friendly software for automatically estimating volume and several other features of 3D multicellular aggregates (i.e., cancer spheroid, zebrafish, fruit fly). ReViMS requires a z-stack of 2D binary masks, obtained by segmenting a sequence of fluorescent images acquired by scanning the aggregate along the z axis, using a confocal or a light-sheet fluorescent microscope. It provides a number of tools for: (a) segmenting z-stacks of fluorescence images; (b) reconstructing the 3D surface of the aggregates and estimating several features (including the volume). ReViMS is written in MATLAB (The MathWorks, Inc., Massachusetts, USA). It is an open-source tool and the source code is freely available at: http://sourceforge.net/p/revims Requirements: MATLAB R2017b and Image Processing Toolbox 10.1 or later versions.

This MATLAB-based program enables analysis of AFM images. In particular, it allows the user to measure the volume of all distinguishable features in an image and to isolate and sort those particles. As the name implies, LAVA uses Lloyd's Algorithm, also known as k-means sorting, to identify a small set of volumes representative of the actual distribution of particle in the image. Although developed for determining feature volume, LAVA is also completely compatible with other types of image analysis, such as fluorescence intensity. Work is in progress to provide three-channel functionality, allowing comparison of relative intensity of red, green, and blue channels in multi-color images.

BFS-CS uses a brute force search to solve a given rubiks cube. It aims at finding the shortest solve possible. The tool provides a cube editor using OpenGL.

DSAquire allows you to download and plot trace data from a Thurlby DSA524 digital storage adaptor (it's a 25 year old instrument, but better late than never, eh?). The data is downloaded via an RS232 serial link using a null modem cable. You can export the plot as an image or export the data in real-world units as a csv file. This software runs under Linux and also under Windows XP and later using Cygwin. Pre-compiled binaries are supplied, as are full sources under the GPL. The interface of provided via FLTK. Also hosted here are the service and operators' manuals for this instrument, as well as dumps of the firmware from the EPROM. Many thanks to those who have preserved these for posterity (the 2.79 and 2.86 firmware dumps where generated by me - the rest has been collected from around the 'net).

A .NET UserControl designed to display simple line-graph-style plots, X-Y scatterplots of data, or polar charts. Direct3D rendering is used for maximum performance, and hundreds of thousands of points can be graphed on typical PC hardware in real-time. The view can be panned, zoomed, and stretched using simple mouse controls.

Composight is a cross-platform toolkit for 3D-image processing in the domain of composite materials science. It is written in C++ and provides small, problem-specific applications for viewing, filtering and segmentation of volumetric data such as micro-CT scans. The main objective is not to provide yet another complex application for volume data visualization and medical image processing. Instead, Composight is a collection of small and simple apps that have already been successfully used to solve various problems in materials science.
