Family Rules

I made this a couple of weeks ago. I printed it on 11x17 paper, laminated it and am hanging it on my fridge. I have seen some really cute ones that are done on wood and hung more like art work. Maybe one day. For now, here is my easy version.

Oma & Poppa Come for a Visit

We were blessed to have my parents with us last week. Poor Asher ended up having double ear infections the whole time they were. It turned out well though, because 1) Asher was still in a great mood, as always and 2)I was glad to have them here to take care of my sweet baby.

He might have gotten a little spoiled. They brought Asher the cutest Easter basket full of great stuff! It was all wrapped up so cute and I forgot to take a photo of it. (Kicking myself now).

We had a great time with them. Even though we weren't able to get out and do as much as we  normally would if Asher had been feeling well. Friday night Ben and I got to have a bonafide date night. It was WONDERFUL! We ate dinner at Dyron's Low Country (a delicious place to get Shrimp & Grits in Mt. Brook). We filled ourselves to the gills on the super yummy food and TWO desserts before heading to a movie. It was so nice! Although, I think Oma, Poppa & Asher had just as much fun as we did. Asher got to do a little shopping. Since he grew out of most of his pajamas almost literally overnight, Oma and Poppa took him out and restocked his PJ drawer.

Saturday we spent some time driving around town and showing my parents some great places to live! Maybe, just maybe...

With things being so low key, I kept forgetting to take pictures. But we got a few the morning my parents were leaving. It was bittersweet. Seeing them leave is always so hard. But we look forward to seeing them again in June for a trip to the beach and maybe even again before then!

We love you, Oma & Poppa!

Christmas in Ohio

We traveled to Ohio on December 22nd. When we arrived, Asher's fan club was waiting on us. My grandmother, her twin sister, Aunt Joy, and my great grandmother were so excited to meet baby Asher.
5 generations.
Oma was so excited to see her grandson.

My mom had everything ready for us when we got there. I didn't need to bring a thing for Asher. She had clothes, bath stuff, a bassinet, pack and play, bouncy seat, diapers, wipes, baby q-tips, bottles, towels, bibs, you name it. She was prepared! I think she might have been looking forward to Asher's visit. What do you think?

Poppa was excited too.

It is our tradition to go to my dad's parent's house for Christmas Eve. It just doesn't feel like Christmas to me if I am not there. I was so thankful to get to spend time with my family and for Asher to meet his relatives.

Asher and his Grandpa Amel.

Asher and his Grandma Angel (my grandmother's mom). If he had been a girl he would have been named Audrey - after her.

Asher and his Grandma Judy, or as we all call her - Grandma Jude.

Asher and Camie, my cousin Eric's wife.
Asher and Eric. Eric doesn't like to hold babies, but Asher won him over in the end.

The great grandkids, Madi, Brent and Asher.

On Christmas morning, we woke up to find that Santa thought we were VERY good this year.

Asher got a lot of great stuff!

He was so excited about it!

All the excitement soon wore him out so Mommy and Daddy opened his presents for him.

I got my mom a blanket that was monogrammed with "Oma". She loved it.

Disclaimer: Mom made me promise not to post any pics of her in her pj's on facebook. Good thing this isn't facebook. :)

We got more gifts than we could fit in the car to come home. But my favorite gift was having Asher and spending time with our families. We got to see both families this year. We are extremely blessed to be surrounded by caring, Christian families that love us and love our son. I look forward to the relationships he will build with these amazing people for years to come. My heart swelled with joy this holiday season as I was continually reminded that God has poured out his blessings on my family.

Christmas with the Grizzles

Ben's parents and his brother and family came to visit us the weekend of the 17th for Ben's graduation and to do Christmas. We had a great time with them as always.

I got Ben a Nook for his graduation gift. He opened it while everyone else was opening Christmas gifts. I think he thanks me for this gift about once a day now. He really likes it.

Poor Asher never got any attention that weekend... Poor Asher never got any attention that weekend...

 I love these boys.

Bob & Elaine kept Asher for us on Sunday while we enjoyed watching Beauty & the Beast on Broadway. Thanks, Gigi & Papa!!!

Dad the Grad

Ben graduated with accounting honors on Saturday. We are so proud of him. He has worked so hard. Working and going to school full time while still maintaining to be a wonderful husband and now father. He had a bunch of balls in the air for the past few years and never let one of them fall. He made a 4.0 nearly every semester (I think he might have made ONE B) and continued to be a good employee, even earning an award that no one in his department had ever won before. All while, being an AMAZING husband, taking care of his pregnant wife and doting on his precious newborn son. Asher and I are so blessed to have him as the head of our household.
