Thought for the Day 12/19/2025

Friday Tale - You  Are Rich I  once asked my Aunt, Dora Jane, who raised me as if she were my mother where we stood on the spectrum between rich and poor. I said, "I know we live well and have money, but we don't have millions of dollars. What does that make us?"   She responded by saying, "I beg your pardon! We are rich, we have always been rich and we will always be rich!"   I responded, "But Auntie, we don't have money like the Getty's!"     She interrupted me and said as she pointed to her heart, and then to her head, "Rich is in here and up here.   You will always be rich in heart and mind. If you have a lot of money that makes you wealthy. If you have no money, that makes you broke.   You see, richness is a state of mind; not how much money you have.   It does not matter how much you have that counts in life.   It's what you do with what you have than counts.   And so long as you remember that you will always ...

Friday Tale - True Wealth T here  was a boy, whose family was very wealthy. One day his father took him on a trip to the country, where he aimed to show his son how poor people live.   So they arrived at the farm of a very poor family, as the father thought. They spent there several days. On their return, the father asked his son, “Did you like the trip?”   “ Oh, it was great, dad” – the boy replied.  “ Did you notice how poor people live?” “ Yeah, I did ” - said the boy. The father asked his son to tell him in more details about his impressions from their trip ” .   “ Well, we have only one dog, and they have four of them. In our garden there is a pool, while they have a river that has no end.  We‘ve got expensive lanterns, but they have stars above their heads at night. We have the patio, and they have the whole horizon. We have only a small piece of land, while they have the endless fields. We buy food, but they grow it. We have high fence for pro...

Friday Tale - "The Richest Man"   A rich landowner named Carl often rode around his vast estate so he could congratulate himself on his great wealth. One day while riding around his estate on his favorite horse, he saw Hans, an old tenant farmer. Hans was sitting under a tree when Carl rode by.          "I was just thanking God for my food." Hans said.          "If that is all I had to eat, I wouldn't feel like giving thanks." Carl protested.          "God has given me everything I need, and I am thankful for it." Hans replied.          The old farmer added, "It is strange you should come by today because I had a dream last night. In my dream a voice told me, 'The richest man in the valley will die tonight.' I don't know what it means, but I thought I ought to tell you."   ...
